I use Donkey Kong as my MK counter.

First of all, smashboards agrees...

Second of all, most Metaknights don't play DK's often because most don't believe this is the case.

Third of all, once you start using backairs and dtilts to keep the MK away, all you have to do is mindgame into WANTING to come in and take an fsmash with invincible frames.

Thanks for the help...I'll also check smashboards for more details. I've seen a lot of arguments in favor of DK and many in favor of MK....by good, experienced players on both sides of the argument. I'll look into this more, but you make a good case for DK -thanks.

The uptilts, upairs, and backairs are your friend against MK. It worked for me, I just won a best of 3 against an MK with it.

Yay, I may not be a falco mainer but I've read that meta is one of their worst matchups.

Personal experience has also shown me that this is the case, as I play Falco and I have a hell of a time against MK players. The better hitbox, the better attack speed, the better movement speed, the better recovery, etc...Falco's laser & shine don't come close to providing enough compensation! Arguably a harder time beating MK with Falco than vs. any other character in the game. Seth has superior skill than his opponent, but even with that it's obvious how much he struggled to win against MK.

I suspected that MetaKnight was Falco's counter in that he's such a pain to defeat. He's very hard to edgehog against, very hard to predict, has annoyingly good up and down smashes (best down smash range in the game?), and even has a speed advantage over Falco. Probably other advantages I overlooked too. I've looked online but sadly enough I haven't found any posts that show good counters to MetaKnight...ANYONE KNOW A GOOD COUNTER TO METAKNIGHT AND WHAT A GOOD STRATEGY IS TO USE AGAINST HIM?

To answer your question. I attended a Brawl Tournament in UC Santa Cruz not too long ago. There was this amazing MetaKnight player and he was owning everyone. I was actually afraid of facing him, but you know what?

He got beat by a R.O.B. Player! He got 3 stocked.

In the finals, I went up against the R.O.B. Player and I beat him. =]

Try using R.O.B. Vs. MK

Yeah, thanks, I also read a thread where some players who played as MK said they had trouble vs. ROB. Was this ROB player you speak of spot-dodging then d-smashing a lot? What kinda moves was he doing that owned this MK player? And congrats on beating the ROB player lol.

Err...I go on smashboards all the time. I am in the SBR. I think I know what I'm talking about. Snake/MK is 50/50 or SLIGHTLY in MK's favor. Since I main both of them, I know their strong points and weak points. It's not a counter. And Falco has all the tools to give MK problems. 50/50. kthx.

Too many things to say, too little time.

First of all, the SBR thing is a fallacy to assume as reason to be "right" in your opinion.

Second, Metaknight has an easier time counter picking Snake, and without B-moves an easier time keeping pressure on Snake that simply can't be withstood.

Third, Falco is great, I main him, and though he can handle MK on the ground with chainthrows and lasers, he has no chance off-edge - you can't argue that.

Last, DK only needs one good combo on Metaknight to KO.

Okay. First of all, you must not have seen M2K fucking up DKs. He's not a counter in any sense of the word. Hell, even I fuck up DKs, it's not hard. Next. Falco/Fox were practically dead once in an edgeguarding situation in Melee. Did that stop them in their matches, or stop them from being the top of the top? No. Edge guarding is only a part of the game, and sorry, but it's not enough to make it a counterpick for MK. Third. Snake wins on stage, MK wins off stage. Even match.
