@ukadmin, I did not have to play it in a compatability mode. I've had the game ever since I had Windows ME. I upgraded to Windows Vista, and no problem. I upgraded again to Windows 7 and still no problem.

@ukadmin, I never played it on a laptop, but, when I had VIsta, I never had any problems with it. Now I have Windows 7 and I play it in Unreal Tournament so I can use the Tournament weapons in the game.

Id like to make more unreal gold movie but since buying my new gaming laptop in 2010 windows vista does not seem to like it and it wont run smoothly.

During gameplay everything seem slow and laggy so i assume it does not like vista.

This problem has nothing to do with my laptop specification but any ideas from you might be helpful.

I need help!

I have Unreal Gold, and when I customize my bots they just don't look like I wanted them to be. I mean, they remain those you can choose by default.

For example, I want the character to wear green clothes, but in the match he doesn't look like that.

Are there any patches (official) fixing that problem? My version is 226.

There's 226b, but I don't know what it does. Please reply!

Its been a while since i played unreal gold and unreal tournament but lets see if i can assist you.

When setting up a bot match make sure you browse the the server tab options before launching the game.

For team deathmatch you will need to set a default colour for your team and choose a skin to suit your team.

In the bot options tab if i remember correctly you must also select auto balance teams.

Colors just don't work. They change back to default when I switch to the next bot I want to customize.

That's the problem.

Also, on the map choosing screen there's no picture of a map like in Unreal Tournament. There's just a black space. I don't know if these pictures are supposed to be there, but if it's some sort of bug, I'd like to fix it too.

But the color bug is just terrible for me...

Download version 226b and install it.

You will need the installation cd to hand before you install this patch.

This patch fixes many bugs in the 226 version and should resolve the map display and skin colour issues.

Just google unreal 226b patch and download it.

the best place to get it will be from the unreal website which a google search should show.

Hi.

I tried to update Unreal Gold using the patch, but it didn't work for some reason. I launched the game and it was still 226, not 226b. Maybe I just didn't use that patch correctly, I don't know.

When I doubleclick on the patch a menu appears. It's similar to the one where I install the game. And it actually installs it. Again. I thought patches are supposed to go to the game folder, but this one is just weird.

Oh, and I tried the steps you suggested. Didn't help, unfortunately...

I did say in my previous messages to you that you will need the installation cd to hand to complete the installation of the 226b patch.

Without the cd you cannot install the patch and you will be waisting your time.

You will see a same menu etc etc but it should prompt you to insert the cd to complete the patch installation.

If you have downloaded this game and are hoping to update the game you should give up now.

I have a downloadable version for the moment. I wanted to see which one is better for me to get, and having some problems with Gold edition. I'm not sure if that patch is going to solve the problem or not. In the description of the patch it was written that it corrects something in "start menu server link". Don't know what it means, but these words were included.

I guess I have to try Anthology or just Unreal 1998 (not Gold) version of the game. So many problems with these PC games...

As i thought not a cd owner hence not being able to install the patch sucessfully.

I would recommend unreal anthology if your going to buy anything and own it because the anthology pack is designed to work on vista and windows 7.

I have unrealy gold but it wont run well on windows vista.

It install and launches absolutly fine but its not happy whilst im playing.

Ive tweaked the windows vista compatability settings but nothing helps.

As far as I know "Anthology" includes: - Unreal Gold (what patch? the latest 226b? does it include "Fusion Map Pack"?) - Unreal II: The Awakening (does it include "eXpanded multiplayer"?) - Unreal Tournament Game of the Year Edition - Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor's Choice Edition Is that correct? Then I'll get UT 2003. I doubt UT3 is gonna work on my PC. What about Downloadable Bonus Content for all these games? Is everything included in Anthology?

I personally do not own the anthology pack but it is to my understanding from people i know that the unreal anthology pack comes complete with everything you need and im pretty sure its the 226b version and fully up to date.

I would recommend googling it to find out more and whats involved but for such a cheap price its a great pack.

Im even considering buying it myself now lol.

Version 227 is fine its what i use.

Launch the game and go the preferences section and broswed through the tabs until you find all your game controls.

One more thing are you running a legal copy of the game from the cd. ?

In your unreal game control options scroll down the list of controls until you see chat or team chat etc etc.

Bind the chat and team chat buttons to a key of your choice and use that key to begin typing to friends in the game.

Once you message has been typed just press enter to send it..

Yes unreal gold is a awesome game but i cant run it on my new high performance laptop which is a shame.

My laptop is running windows vista home premium but even changing the compatbility modes to run the game it still wont run like it did in this video on my laptop.

The graphics are awesome but the gameplay is jurky.

The Unreal Gold version that comes with Unreal Anthology is compatible with all new windows, so that should be the way to go.

Yeah the Unreal Gold version in Unreal Anthology was made to be compatible with XP and Vista.

I can even play the game in Windows 7.

Unreal Anthology have Unreal Gold + expansions, Unreal II, UT, UT2004 and a CD with music.

About 4-5 months ago i browsed all over the internet to find the download for this game but i ended up buying my own copy off ebay.

I did find a few links on some torrent websites but after downloading the files i found they where bogus and no use.

They had files missing or no setup files.

I would suggest you buy a copy of the game from you local store or online.

I spent like over a week trying all the biggest download sites and torrent sites to get this game.

It prooved to be a pain in the butt so i just baught if dirt cheap off ebay.

I suggest buying yourself a copy because with the game being very old most downloads are either out of date or the files to this game are not being seeded anymore.

i miss a few of these guns :( Loved the assualt rifle, the 8 ball launcher and the gernade launcher and the special inserts u could get for the very first gun they start u out with. The ones that make that like the ultimate gun lol after u get like all 3 gatherd up

Yes fuckzezima the game supports single and multiplayer modes.

It also supports bot matches, which is pretty cool when your bored.

You can fight up to 15 other bots all at once, on different skill levels.
