I did the Lutheran school thing from preK to high school, & what is confusing (among a lot of other things)is the inclusion of strict religious law, a law that is not really found in Christianity, it’s almost Jewish or Islamic in nature

What is the ordnung for the Swartzentruber Amish on shaving? I see you don't have a beard. I was wondering why there is a difference? I suppose I thought Amish did not shave because it would be considered vain. Would you mind explaining this? Thank you for the videos. It's very facinating.

Why do they where all black on Sundays when they go to church? To me it looks dark and sinister!! No harm....but why?

The macintosh style coat is actually very fashionable and looks very well made. I doubt that lining would tear out at any point in time in the life of that coat.

oh how fun I remember us dressing like that when we see my husband's family in penn. They dont make us but I think because they have to so we feel we need to also for the love we have for them. Also why should we stand out from them. Wow your a very handsome man

Absolutely amazing. I've become aware of many of the differences between English and Amish men's dress. Apparently the shirts serve the purpose of an undergarment, with a couple of top layers such as the vest and the cloak.
