@perpetual1994 True. Virgin Steele have written some of the best metal songs and ballads ever. This, ''Prometheus the Fallen One'', ''Crown of Glory'', ''Child of Desolation'', ''Invictus'', ect are all awesome songs. Too bad they're so underrated.

I remember starving on the East coast streets before I was age 6. The blessed one trying to knock it back with a needle in vein; the baby of all glory. Not a single soul noticed or cared. I tried to extinguish the torment of trials & prevent the jealousy of my destiny. Its a very imperfect world. I remember having the shoes taken off my feet for a bottle of booze. Had not eaten in days & I was give a bag of raw white sugar. I lost my bf when she said I was spoiled as a child when I needed her.

In the world your shelter is your family. Yet I found some of my father's cold & I was trapped in a quest for superficial power that had leeched upon my blood from my birth date unknowingly. Then the masses of blood traitors just rise & rise & rise. Your hatred swells within. My Aunt only cared when it was a holiday to entertain. I don't think she ever bought a car on her own earnings even. I tried to protect her sons for I knew a marr in pedigree that would devestate if I didn't.

You will hear David's soul bleed more knowing that it was his side of the family that caused me greatest distress, pain & anguish & then some. He knows it well & yet I love him dearly. It is likely I go for benefit of all I love but I never really leave David & i still adore Shatar. The band is warm & welcoming & they are always welcome where I am if they are just as they are. But life leads me to dysfunction & running from a past I can't escape to nowhere in sight.

@xxxGandixxx-I agree that they leave a bread crumb trail to lead you by. It is because it is not contrived music but serious truth from deep down within the soul. It is for the hatred of blood traitors & vengence & it is in infinite love of past, present & future. How many times has conflict caused the stupidity of our own to rise against the best of us that paid the toll?? What did you expect but something of magnitude & power & beauty from Greek Gods?

@xxxGandhixxx Yeah that's cool. Virgin Steele wrote those ''hear a new thing every time'' albums. Have you heard ''The House of Atreus'' series? Listen to ''Child of Desolation''. It's an amazing ballad!

@calastiur yeah, i have, i have heard the whole "marriage" trilogy and the two atreus albums dozens of times ;)

noone can write majestic music like virgin steele does, everything is somewhere linked together, melodies and lyrics are reused and you are always reminded of an earlier song. damn, even the little interludes which i tend to hate most of the time are great the way virgin steele does them..

@xxxGandhixxx Yeah. That's what I like about Virgin Steele. They're not the most talented band out there, but they're really great songwriters. I don't really like the latest two albums though. They sound so overlong with so many random sections. Have you heard them?

Yes, i have heard those albums (didn't buy them) and you're right, there are much more filler tracks than on the five albums from the "golden era of VS", and even the few interesting parts seem overlong and not that good. It's like some songs also try to be as epic as emalaith and fail.

VS should release a symphonic album in the way of ''Transfiguration''. It's from ''The Marriage of Heaven and Hell'' part two. Good song. Not metal, but way better than every song on the new album. Even ''Visions of Eden'' still had some cool stuff, but the new one..mweh. So damn confusing.

@calastiur Yeah, i like that song too, my sister got me the marriage part two album for my birthday ;)

On the new one, i kinda like By the Hammer of Zeus (and the Wrecking Ball of Thor), it's kinda catchy and has some power. but nothing really special either like veni, vidi, vici or this song.

I think there's a point where every band has to run out of ideas and steam, for VS, this point might have been reached.

Yeah, the new album has some decent tracks, but they still lack power. The openings track, third and fourth are alright. Personally, I even liked some songs from ''Visions of Eden'', (''Immortal I Stand'' and ''When Dusk Fall'' sound great) but even your favourite bands can release crap once in a while. I hope their next album will be better!

@xxxGandhixxx They haven't run out of ideas I think they just need to take a step back a bit. As much as I love the extended conceptual pieces they do,on the new album and VOE they have gotten far too caught up in those kinds of pieces, and perhaps too caught up in the theatrics and story part of the band with less emphasis on the music or the metal aspects.Their albums from this era were very elaborate as well, but better paced and if the next album exercises a tad bit of restraint it will work

@calastiur "Not the most talented band out there" are you kidding me? You know songwriting has a lot to do with that! Plus Edward Pursino is perfectly capable of shredding in the same league as greats like Gary Moore or Criss Oliva, and David is a very technically skilled singer and so is Frank Gilchriest on the drums. In fact, are you sure you were even talking about the right band?

@Whackooyzero Oh yeah, hah, you're right. Well, yeah, songwriting is the bands best thing. As far as musicianship goes, they're solid I think. Not awesome, but good at what they can. I agree that VS (or mainly David Defeis as he wrote all the songs on TBLB need to take a step back when it comes to writing songs. Their new album sounded too complex for its own good. As far as future albums go, I hope David will sing it better. On the last one it sounded like he wasn't even trying.
