omg. I am in grade 9 and this is so hard to understand. My teacher told me to first get the same dominator then do the sum. I was just stuck on this question but this has confused more. She is to fast
and the multiplcable inverse or whatever is as easy as fliping the fraction and doing the opposite, if multiplying divide and if dividing multiply that fraction to both sides, again to cancle it out and getting that variable by itself
It's simple, you just do the opposite(if divide,then multiply and vise versa) to both sides to cancle it out, leaving you with the value of the variable.Although these are the simplest form of the equations.
usually i understand this but this is a very bad tutorial. its is going too fast for beginners. explanations and numbers are getting crossed out too fast for any beginner to figure out whats going on
So these dummies understand terms like multiplicative inverse and reciprocal? (Or to be fair, maybe I'm watching these out of order. In which case they need to be numbered.) I think this would be better if the narrator had plugged the value of the variable back into the equation and proved that the solution was correct.
Explanation could use a lot more clarity. The speaker on the video assumes that "for dummies" viewers already know what certain terminology means. She also doesn't explain the rationale of why it must be computed a certain way. I recommend checking out KhanAcademy Far better explanation, but the graphics aren't as good.
your not alone, i think it's kind of lame for this to be considered for dummies. some people just can't figure out math. my whole life ive deeply focused on math and tried so hard, and i just cant comprehend it in my head. like when the teacher does a problem on the bored, it makes sense..but when it comes down to solving on my own...i cant do it .
@w0mblemania I totally agree, it looks so darn simple and at the end im still like what the??? I dont like math, but its a class I totally have to pass this year!
I bet the narrator is just reading off a script and has no clue how to actually work linear equations either.

@dude7872002 don't worry.... it's SIMPLE!!!(I'm indian btw....)
k..
eg. 7x=35
7x is in the L.H.S of the equation so..TRANSPOSE IT TO THE R.H.S
on the other side(since 7 is being multiplied) IT WILL DIVIDE 35!
and so..x=35/7
x=5!
banjirox 2 months ago
IDIOTS!! You can easily solve the first equation or any other equation using the transposition method..
eg. 20x=170 (like in the first method)
so transpose the constant!
x=170/20(also 17/2)
x=8.5

If you expect anyone to learn any of this, you should slow down and explain why you are doing what you are doing to solve. Still a good job though.
