Thumbs up if you wish you could have a sequel where the children of the Bhaalspawn find out the fate of Minsc and Boo. Minsc is still my favorite NPC of any game.....
Epic Theme, still creating a huge emptyness within me! Baldurs Gate have become a legend of his own. Meantime many didn´t know anything about this great story, hidden in those three tremendos games. The graphics are like true paintings they don´t became ugly or old in my opinion. So they do not need to make a new one, the old one is pretty fine after all those years passe by and i still love it!
Favorite Char? I go with Jan, because he made me laugh so hard everytime he open his mouth! :o)
I'm not afraid to admit that I too get choked up when I hear this. Am I weird that Minsc almost seems like he was once a real friend of mine? Gah, it's just a video game but it's left a lasting impression on me to this day, damn you Baldur's Gate for being so incredible that I will never get over the fact that this epic series had to end!
I keep forgetting Minsc is a Ranger. I just slapped some plate mail on him, gave him the biggest sword I could find and let him and Boo go to town on the baddies! Go for the eyes, boo! Go for the EYES! RRAAAAAGHHHH *squeek squeek*
Strange how a fictional character can have such impact on people.
Reading the last sentence always makes me sad, becouse he followed your party trough the Whole Baldurs Gate story and was that "Odd but Awesome" hero.
BG2 did a marvelous job at making you care about the characters, and I don't think any game has since quite duplicated that feeling of "We've been through much together" between the player and the group.
It's like at the end of a great book, you just don't want to let go of the characters you've grown so close to.
The most important thing is to keep the rpg genre going. I'd like it very much if they made another big game in Baldur gate style with 2D graphic but with great art.
I think neverwinter nights and dragon age 1 and 2 are also good, they also have their strong points and good NPCs. But they are not as big as Baldur gate.
In dragon age 1, the best character was Morigan and in dragon age 2 the best was Varrick.
Minsc effected my life big time, when I played BG1 15 or so years ago, I got a hamster that looked just like Boo and named him Boo. This was and still is my favorite game, nothing can replace it. Now time to dig threw a billion boxes to find the game, it does not belong in a box, it belongs on my desk and to be played
What of Boo? I'll tell you what happened to Boo: He spent his twilight years watching and judging the adventures of a young Commander Shepard, trekking the stars with a knowing squeak of approval.
some say they are together still, up amongst the stars where hamsters are giants, and men become legends. that last line was epic! It made me reminisce about when I first met Minsc in BG1.
BEST ending of them all.."where hamsters are giants and men are legends" Minsc always stays with me...my gf played this game and quit once she realized she couldn't romance him lol
oh man, what a beyond-excellent game. probably the best rpg that i've ever played. hopefully not the best that i will ever play, but i wouldn't be surprised. the entire story was just so perfect and epic, and the endings were very fitting.
I grows tired of yelling battle cries when fighting this mage! Boo will finish your eyeballs once and for all so he does not rise again! EVIL, MEET MY SWORD! SWORD, MEET EVIL!!!!
Camaraderie, adventure, and steel on steel. The stuff of legends! Right Boo?
" Well, what is Minsc without Boo? The two would never be seperated, and some say they are together still, up amongst the stars where hampsters are giants and men become legends."
@Essefen Agreed - a bossmob that does not say a line until the end... The story of Dragon age sucked compared to that of Baldur's Gate (especially 2). And it was still not that bad.
BG's story was just epic and moving. In that order.
@Essefen Till Dragon Age my fav RPG was Baldurs Gate and in 2nd place Baldurs Gate 2. But now my fav is Dragon Age and it is a successor of BG. And yes, ive played my share of RPGs, NWN, BG, Kotor, Icewind Dale series, the witcher, diablo 2, fable, fallout series and oblivion and morrowind and i say without a prob that Dragon Age is the best and a great comeback of Baldurs Gate. I just dont see what BG fans prob is with DA...dont be ignoran, if u dont like it ok, but dont smash it.
@Essefen You know, lame, shitty nwn2 is the worst ''RPG'' ever and insult to Forgotten Realms and fantasy in general. Compared to nwn2, Dragon Age is very goood.
@Narania234 I have played nwn2 and although it's not as good as BG, it is still very very good. Especially once you go into motb, the storyline gets quite big. The thing about BG is that every single NPC you come across feels so real, and that's the main difference.
@ssdiothor Actually, nwn2 is a polar opposite to authentic Forgotten Realms and D&D. In nwn2 plot is plagiarist, lame crap, electron interface is shit, music is retarded. What's most horrible, most companions was killed by falling boulders. Ridiculous ending.
motb is the worst expansion ever, instead of actually sensible chars killed by boulders, they replaced them by inbred scum. Throne of Bhaal is the greatest FR expansion, ALL PARTY MEMBERS ARE ALIVE except Yoshimo but Sarevok is a badass.
@Essefen Im sorry guys but i just find that so pretentious, i love both games and to be so stuck up about it is just so narrow minded... i suppose im trying in vain to get through to you however since you are clearly the sort to dismiss anything that isnt up to what you think i should be.
@dgabbless Im talking about origins, im a DA2 hater... i belive Origins was a brilliant game, also reviews are the perspective of one person no matter how many call a game terrible. Although i do think DA2 was a rushed mess, reviews are not something to go on and be percived as Fact. Its opinions.
@ItIsTheInvisibleMan DAO was pretty cool for a while, really felt like a throwback to older style RPGs, i got a bit bored with it and stopped playing at the wizard tower.
Spiritual in the sense of character, that feel of an epic story, a new world, amazing companions and such... it does not have to be on par with Baldur's gate, because it will never be. But in a sense, it's more close to Baldur's gate than any other CRPG made today...
I think what would be more fitting would be pretty much a 2 1/2D game. You know, having the same overhead view, but also being able to zoom to an extent, and rotate the camera. That would more or less preserve the nostalgic feeling and functionability of a 2D game, but be much more accessible to newer audiences, and more maneuverable to us veterans.
@darken27 Ya sorta of like that game Torchlight have you played that? I enjoyed it but got old really fast. Not a very good comparison to what your talking about but I agree with you. But add more voice acting lol.
Well, never played that game, but you get the idea.
And of course it would have more voice acting. If it were the same group in charge of the game as were for the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series, no doubt it would be chalk full of voice acting, to ensure the player is thoroughly entertained while playing it, and even has to replay it to experience the majority of the content.
Even BG2, with 360 degree camera rotation alone, would make for a game twice as great.
@BGEndings: I agree. But if the art design is really good, 3d graphics work too. You should try out Drakensang and Drakensang 2, they remind me very much of Baldur's Gate (even though they're not D&D games).
@BGEndings i totatally agree with ya..updated graphics are kinda starting to get..ugh..let's just have a game that makes me have an emotional reponse..no next gen game has yet...this game..oh it brings up a ton of late night conversations and emotions
@BGEndings you know, i have been thinking about that.. Why is it that most 3D RPGs tend to suck and all. I think it has to do with the fact that a big part of what made a RPG a hit in the old days was the fact that it gave way to imagination. People who like RPGs tend to do so cause those games connect to their creativity and imagination. In 3D RPGs, we see everything right on the engine. The environment is there, the expressions of the characters when they speak (most of time awfully done) etc
@BGEndings In the end, there is really nothing left to imagine about the games. That takes away all the fun. It is the same thing about books made into movies : the movie versions end up sucking most of the time. I fear the age of great RPGs is ended :-( There might be a time in the future where the 3D will be astonishing and the graphical rendition so great we will have great RPGs again, but it will never be coming from our imagination (which is still the best medium for RPGs).
@finaltorment The world of Forgotten Realms is simply an amazing setting, you get so much glimpses and references to ancient adventures, myths, legends and people, you simply can't help but to give in to your imagination which in my case was never truly satisfied and that's something that has never happened with any other games. It sucks you in and won't ever let go. I hope it won't.
@BGEndings I don't think the problem is that 3d looks worse. It's more that a locked isometric view is much better for these kinds of games, yet all of the newer ones are trying to be third person and let you see all the details of the action. I think this is also why modern RPGs play much slower. Compare how fast a character swings their sword in BG2 to how fast they do it in NWN for a good example.
@BGEndings even with dragon ages 1& 2 as well as nwn2 and all of its expansions, i still end up playing icewindale 2 more often than modern titles, weird.
@opiumthoughts i'm afraid that it would spoil it. when i play BG i kinda imagine more the battles and etc. with modern graphics it would just give you everything on the silver plate. a proffesor who teaches screenwriting once told me that the viewer tells your story at best , becouse he tells the story to him/her self and can fantasise things. That's why old legendary games like BG,Fallout 1&2 doesn't have a match nowdays. Becouse the player was a part of creating the world like in paper rpg's
MInsc was the BEST character ever! You know, it's funny, Minsc and Imoen were pretty much with my party from the beginning of the first game. Great characters.
Ah, do not speak of the most unholy of monsters!:D
I loved having minsc in my party, even though he seemed to be a damage magnet, just because he was minsc and ofcourse where would minsc be without boo. GO FOR THE EYES!
What I wanna know is why no D&D game after Baldur's Gate hasn't even mentioned Minsc or his justice fists yet? The most he's gotten is an item that supposedly belonged to him in NWN2.
Hell, the first Expansion pack for NWN2 actually takes place in Rasheman! There is no reason the Justice fists couldn't have at least gotten a cameo.
This is one of the best lines from the epilogues in the game. The other is the final line of the Imoen epilogue where she repeats the classic line from the start of Baldur's Gate.
Minsc was my favourite character. I am sad that Black Isle shut down.... And even sadder that the trilogy ended. I wish there were more games where you continue your journey with Minsc. Can you do a Sarevok ending?
I'll do so now. The endings I have uploaded so far are from the characters I used in my last playthrough that I still had the saved games for. I'll use Shadow Keeper or something.

@opiumthoughts Infinity engine and 2D isometric graphics win the day for me.
DavidFausset 1 year ago
@opiumthoughts i'm afraid that it would spoil it. when i play BG i kinda imagine more the battles and etc. with modern graphics it would just give you everything on the silver plate. a proffesor who teaches screenwriting once told me that the viewer tells your story at best , becouse he tells the story to him/her self and can fantasise things. That's why old legendary games like BG,Fallout 1&2 doesn't have a match nowdays. Becouse the player was a part of creating the world like in paper rpg's

Pby my favorite character... kinda crazy, kinda dumb, but unquestionably lawful and ready for battle, in the name of good. Plus a very good melee guy
I'm glad his ending is good
Minsc forever
Deppherillion 2 years ago
He definitely wasn't lawful, but he had a heart of gold, and a furry squeaky friend to aid him, where his brain failed him.
If you've discovered Crazy Celvan in the Docks District at night, he'll rhyme you a tale:
"There once was a warrior true,
with the sense knocked out of him too.
But in a hamster he found,
some wisdom profound,
and now where goes he goes his Boo!"

GO FOR THE EYES!

hand him Lilarcor the blade with a mouth and you have an ANNOYING AS HELL YET AWESOME AS CHUCK NORRIS endless-talking uber-killing machine!!!
mrchuckmorris 2 years ago 9
Noober was just misunderstood!
If you talked to him repeatedly he thanked you for your kindness, and you earned some nice experience points (and a special item!)!

I'm betting it has to do with legal issues. Ya know, the whole Black Isle mess. I do wish we coulda seen a cameo from the BG2 characters.

Nadzootz 2 years ago 2
I'll do so now. The endings I have uploaded so far are from the characters I used in my last playthrough that I still had the saved games for. I'll use Shadow Keeper or something.
