Here's the problem with Better Keyboard.

With all of the permissions that are required to run it, you might as well give someone your entire keylog, your passwords for all of the websites you visit (banking, etc), all of your text records, all of your call records, all of your emails, etc.... The authors also want to be able to access your camera (and therefore be able to remotely take video, pictures, audio recordings, etc of what you are doing).

Hey i have a huge concern and i hope someone who actually knows can explain to me... i downloaded the free app to this "better keyboard 8" and it said to be aware that personal information could be viewed by other people.. i logg on to my bank account all the time and make payments from paypall.. is this a risky move? can someone really get personal info like that?? pls help... note: Great App!

I tried this and it's not any better than the factory program on the Vibrant. It's horrible because it keeps misspelling words. Half the time, it produces spellings that are NOWHERE near what I typed. I uninstalled it. Am still looking for a reasonably accurate keyboard but haven't come across one that shows the bar with five suggested words like on the old Tmobile G1.

@stephenk2012 It doesn't, at least there's no reason to believe it does. The thing is, there's no way for the phone to be certain that the 3rd party keyboard is not doing anything malicious.

After you install Better KB, enable it under the settings. Than long hold on any text field, choose "input method", than select Better KB.

Uh, it wasn't "Wasted space" as you said, it was an offset keyboard to make it easier to type on because it had the same basic layout and offset as a typical computer keyboard.

I disagree. Look a tthe HTC keyboard or a standard KB. Outside of the "A" and the "L" are symbols and caps lock. There is just empty space on the Android KB

But you still lose the offset keyboard which can increase the chance of errors.

@mikef1182 I agree with punkmonkey123, it's not wasted space. Offset keyboards are much easier to type on, as they mimic that of a real hardware keyboard.

I think it would be great on the MyTouch 3G, a.k.a. the google ion, a.k.a. the htc magic, but is unnecesary on the g1 because of the physical keyboard. Great App definately gonna buy if i get the MyTouch 3G. :)
