This version has an interesting outlook on the movie; Gao Han becomes Paying's late husband's replacement. She's been yearning for her late husband for two years and everyday dreams of him returning. That plot alone makes me sad because I'm waiting for someone too.

Have you listened to both versions and seen the movie? Pan Yun's version of the song and Gao Han's version sound very different. The lyrics are quite close and compliment each other really well though. Both the songs are called: "Ju san liang yi yi" and are about longing for someone. For many years when I was younger I thought both songs were the same one too, but they're actually quite different.

@00starryXing00 well, i've seen the hmong version and well, i've listen to or more like skim through all the versions of the songs you have up. since i don't understand chinese so idk but are the lyrics the same? i mean, is the only difference is that they sing it differently with different music but same lyrics or is it completely different or is it different because one is piano and the other is guitar? or what is the difference? you know what i mean? sorry, idk if i make any sense.

IF you guys remember from the movie, she wrote her song first and then gao han changed the lyrics, that's when the changes came in.

@lilylalacup right, i remember that vaguely but after listening to all these different versions i become confuse and curious. before, i was never curious cause all that really matter was that i liked the song. lol. but after hearing these versions, i wanted to know what exactly is the difference. now that you mentioned that, i'm assuming that he changed both the lyrics and music a bit, perhaps??

@misakichii sorry, 4got to check my inbox. anyways, so Pan Yun longs for her pass over husband. The main point of her song is to communicate with her husband, especially when she sings that she listens and waits for his message. Then Gao Han comes along and answers her, sending her his own "message" about his love for her. He sings, he can't count/trace love (or his love for her, I assume). That's the way I interpreted it, but it may/may not be. For me, this makes sense.

@misakichii The male version is a reply to the female version. Because in the female she mentions how she misses and yearn for love, which she lost her husband. While the male version is telling her that there is still hope in the future, and she shouldn't close her heart off.

I love this song. Your best bet to ever find these songs on tape or CD is any China Town store across America or China itself. I have the original singer of this exact song and voice. The singer was Li Bi Hau. I by chance stumble upon it when I bought the cassete version back in 93 from this little international mini chinese store down the block. Now, it's not there anymore. :( I still have her 5 piece cassette collection set to this day. Sorry, not for sale.
