I really enjoy this cover. Obviously I adore U2's version because it meant something extremly important back at the time. What I enjoy about Paramore's is that it's very reflective and shows, no matter what nationality or age they are, that Bloody Sunday is still an important history of the world, and will never be forgetton.
I think it is a pretty beautiful cover. U2's original version is really nice, but it has a funnier mood, with not much sorrow. I don't know how to say it in English exactly but... This version's sound is more painted with sadness, it's as sad as the lyrics. Also it has good sonority.
I don't know if you agree, but I could say this one has more feeling.
@mikeprojeckt Funnier mode? (you meant funner) I'm sad to see how dumb our culture has gotten. MORE FEELING? They were singing about Irish slaughter in the streets after the armistance and Janurary 1 meant nothing, which they witnessed and she thinks her colored hair is "neat". You're as dumb as they come.
@littlegirl12334 - You're not serious, are you? The band members of U2 actually lived through violence in the streets on a fake armistance day (January 1st - Sunday Bloody Sunday) in Ireland. This isn't a love song, and she has no clue what it's like not be able to die her hair with blood in the streets. Go back to your reality shows.
@168stetic I've never said that this was a love song, I wrote my opinion and yes, I'm pretty serious. U2 might have lived this but I liked the acoustic version better. By the way, I don't watch reality shows.
@PARAWHORE5563344 The way she sings this song suggests that she really has no clue what the subject matter is even about. You seem to have issues with reading comprehension. Has this always been a problem? I find the singers voice very annoying but I think her backing band are talented musicians. Can you try and wrap your brain around that? :-) It's really not that complicated mate. God forbid anyone have a different opinion than yours though eh? lol
@Nigelxman personally it seems like you're trying to be underground and hate what everyone loves. obviously if you write saying you dont like hayleys voice in a song on their video, paramore fans are going to fucking mob your house. you seem like you want the attention. i dont care if it's your honest opinion, you seem arrogant. just drop it. like its hot. <3 have a lovely day xx
I like this version, but it's more like… i don't know, a more romantic sound, but I can still hear the pain she expresses through her voice. It's good though, really good!
Hey, in all fairness, U2 AS A BAND don't suck... just Bono. I hope that fucker burns in hell for exploiting bogus "charity work" to drive up record sales and make himself popular cause he's not talented enough to do it by his own merits. Thank you, Hayley, for finally letting me here this song sung WELL.
@indietrack78 whattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt ????????????? u2 suck?????? say thank you to U2 for having rock bands like paramore playing on tv
In the original, you could feel the utter rage, disgust of British troops gunning down innocent civiians in Northern Ireland. That song had passion and a call to arms. It was raw, filled with a sense of sorrow and outrage. Old U2 (not the media ho's of today) had a masterpiece!
As for this song, well........this band, "Paramore", really had no business remaking this song. All the meaning, passion is totaly lost. It sounds any other, prissy, whiney indie rock song.
@Nigelxman The way that U2 sung it was almost upbeat, hardly a nice theme for a war song. I'm not saying that they were terrible, but I'd hardly condemn this cover as terrible when it's really quite good.
no doubt that she is a good singer, and the band is really tight, I am not a fan but I do respect the music being they are good musicians and good at what they do. Just not a fan of their type of music.
BUT, they suck the anger right out of this song. The history of the song and the lyrics and what U2 was feeling when they wrote the song are definitely not felt in this rendition. Yes they sing it play this version BEAUTIFULLY!!! BUT you don't do this to a song about violence in a war torn city
Beautiful cover, both sang nicely :D

Both versions are awesome. Stop picking sides. Music is suppose to bring us together not to argue over which version is better.

This is beyond horrific. It's like she has no clue whatsoever what this song is about. Just horrible. The band however, is quite good.

@masseur10 i think they were trying to go for the vulnerable/ helpless side that is also present in the original track.
