Really lovely! I love the way Matt likes experimenting with older sounds aswell as new stuff! I think that Joe Meeks ideas of putting unusual noises on records influence him too.
Listen, grampa, just because you were born 50 million years before me doesn't mean jack shit, and it certainly doesn't mean you can make lame jokes about how long I've been playing, which by the way is longer than your play time by about 4 years. And you being a drummer for 500 years also doesn't mean jack shit because playing drums is piss easy. Finally, you starting to play guitar in your fourties means you are most likely less skilled than me, and your ears less sensitive.
sick of you dumb fucks arguing on the internet on who's right about the song. Just listen to the music and if you don't like it then you don't have to listen to it. After saying that I'd say that I do like it, it reminds me of riding on horses kinda like Knights of Cydonia.
@eduardvictor If you think this is anything like the original then you need to get a new set of ears man.... It's just a poor cover. You obviously haven't listened to the original version..
@shadoogie61 I am pretty sure your antique ears are deceiving you, old man, I've been playing guitar since I was 3 years old, I know my music, trust me, grew up with it, it's in my blood, I can play any song i've ever heard.
And you know what differentiates "experts" like you and real musicians?
Real musicians make their OWN music, or make covers and add their own twist to them, like these guys.
"Experts" like you just copy other people's music like a xerox machine and settle with that.
@eduardvictor So you have been playing for at least 2 years then!! Not only did I grow up listening and playing Shadows tunes and have written many many songs, I have been playing guitar for 20 years and drums for 50 years and was a professional musician for 15 years. What exactly can you play/write... Why don't you let us see it?
@KAmaKAsa1 listen wanker, I started drumming when I was 13 and now I am 63.. When I went to school that = 50 years so why don't you grow up a bit yourself
@shadoogie61Also, it's probably why these guys have 30 million views on their Uprising song, and won the Grammy award for their Resistance album, and sold out Wembley stadium, and Glastonbury 2010, and you are only "known" to your friends, family and Youtube.
@eduardvictor i like muse very much and i think theyre talented, but the success of a band is not compareable to their talent. music business doesn´t have much to do with the music being good or special i personally think resistance was their worst album, hopefully the new one will be better once they get it done
Respond to this video... I'm just saying, give credit where credit is due and don't dismiss young artists just because they don't fit your musical style or taste, that is just pure ignorance that I honestly would not expect from an old musician such as yourself.
I love this. I just love it. I think the electronic fuzz and sounds in the background just add to the charm. How did I miss this one? Going on my playlist.
@DarkFlamage The shadows version is nothing compared to this. Their version sounds really basic while this version sounds more full and fleshed out. The sound quality is better too, but that's expected when you have a song from 1960 compared to something much more recent.
@DarKnightofCydonia Thanks for your reply. Possibly b/c I'm an old man, I prefer the Shadows version. Anyhow that's my opinion, but regardless, you do have a creative username that, as an added bonus, contains the word "Dark", so it's all good!!!!!...Thumbs up
People don't like to see other people happy. We have found musical bliss throughout our souls in Muse; while the haters listening to Lamb of God or Kings of Leon are so unhappy and don't understand why!?! Fill your ears with garbage and it'll come right back out your mouth. When you fill your ears with beauty...
They kept it together reasonably well until 1.08, but couldn't quite match Hank Marvin's marvel. As my driving instructor so eloquently put it: "more practise is definitely needed".
Isn't it 'Funny' how on most video's the high rated comments say stuff like "Twilight's gay" , "Justin Beiber should burn in hell" or "Jedward should get a life" and I've even seen sh*t about Lady gaga.
Ya know, there's no point in it.
If you honestly want to yell about Justin beiber, do it on a vedio that's actually about Justin beiber. If you want to say some crap about twilight, Go to a vidie that actually has Twilight in it.
I've run out of letters, but I think I made my point. :)
@ObsessiveDreams Well, your comment is now on the tops and it also is about those things.
I think there's no point in complaining about youtube comments, people won't listen to it anyway... Just ignore them.
Same things with youtube jokes. Comments like " [Number of Dislikes] are [insert]" are everywhere, no one seems to understand that it is not funny anymore. Now I just ignore them...
@TheRobot13 ignorance is not bliss. If you have an opinion that you feel you must share, you should share it. If you have a gay joke that's been repeated time after time after time, and you just stole it and wrote it so you could have a couple of green thumbs up, than don't fucking post it because that's just pathetic. His comment is rated high because he said something everyone agrees with. The repetitive joke comments are rated high by 8 year olds who don't know what funny is yet.
@ObsessiveDreams luckily, when listening to this wonderful b-sides u don't usually run into those comments, because i think only real muse fans listen to these. No vampires here.
You're gona have to go P2P on that one. Either that or try and find every single muse has released this far. That's where you find them. That and japan and french releases of LPs.
Listen to Recess, the style of guitar in that song sounds more like the Tornadoes than it does in Knights of Cydonia! But yeah this song does sound like it too..
EXACTLY thats what I'm saying, but people keep correcting me and telling, "oh they did with Knights of Cydonia" but thats just similarities, I'm talking about a full cover, ya know
Can someone let me know if this is truly a Muse song? Because it seems like they just did a cover of this song, because I SWEAR THE GOD I've heard this melody before when I was a kid.
Its was made by the shadows but recorded by muse whilst on tour - they recorded it the day they decided to play it - it was recorded on a laptop hence the poorer quality
Do you mean the sound quality or the quality of their rendition? The sound quality is perfect if you have the original NME CD or lossless rip - as good as any studio recording in fact. If you meant their performance is poor then I have to disagree, this is an excellent cover - a fun song played by a fun band in a space-rock tongue in cheek sort of way... props to Muse as always for their fabulous work.
nope kinda incorrect. it was recorded in the study but the finishing touches had to be done on a laptop due to them having to continue the tour. its not poor quality
Quality, aint overly high, it sounds fantastic when streamed through youtube, yes, however, when i play it on my music player, its not to the same standards as say, KOC. It might be me, might be my PC but there is a subtle hint of an almost .wav format coming across (onkly not that bad), and the size isnt too big for 1.54 seconds
The CD came with a special edition of NME based around muse released on the week they did theyre wembley performance (16th 17th June 2007).
I was lucky enough to receive this issue as a thankyou from someone we gave a ticket to for the 17th June one and is to this day one of the only rare muse songs I have!!!
i know. as i bought it. but its still not rare. the tape that muse made before showbiz is rare. them songs are rare. Man of mystery is prity commen compaired tbh
Actually, it is rare, relative to people who aren't really muse fans. Think about it, most people who listen to muse aren't really big enough fans to know all the songs on all their albums, let alone know b-sides or covers... :P
Like Crazy Days, Forameus, Jigsaw Memory, Balloonatic, Rain, Falling With The Crowd, Muscle Museum #2, Uno (Original Version), Sunburn (guitar version), Feeling Good (without megaphone), & unmastered copy of Origin Of Symmetry.
Actually I think the main influence often quoted for KoC is Telstar by the Tornadoes - KoC was a sort of tribute to Matt's dad who was the rhythm guitarist in the band.
Purest epicness of the epic sounds of epics!

Actually I think the main influence often quoted for KoC is Telstar by the Tornadoes - KoC was a sort of tribute to Matt's dad who was the rhythm guitarist in the band.
