  • Great piece and great sraight-to-the-point review. Thanks for posting.

  • I bought this exact pistol about 6 months ago. Just wanted to say nice review and I agree with everything you said. It's a beautiful pistol. It's a simple pistol. It feels good in my mind. Thanks!

  • @bluedogguy Congratulations and enjoy. If you have time do a review, would like to know what you think.

  • that's my kind of gun

  • very beautiful and functinal gun

  • @2009james007bond Thanks

  • nice dog

  • @MrHunkjack Thanks He is a GREAT Dog

  • john lennon disliked this 3 times.

  • I would rather have a Walther PPK

  • very nice piece. wish i had one myself. shame it cant handle the .357 mag loads. as what she said, six is better than 5. excellent conceal carry weapon.

  • @MrTestdummy11 Dont be fooled by the short barrel, sight radius plays a big part in hitting the target.

  • that is a nice weapon you got there hoss

  • @wheredidileavemycell Thank You My Friend. I like your channel.

  • There is no reason to load these (or any other modern DA revolver)with an empty chamber under the hammer, they are perfectly safe fully loaded. It is IMPOSSIBLE for them to go off if dropped on the hammer, as you've pointed out the hammer cannot make contact with the primer unless the trigger is pulled.

  • I had one of these in nickle, lost it in '85 when a sticky fingered cop stopped me and saw it in a gun case the back seat of my car, declared it a concealed weapon. California gun laws suck.

  • Prefer the Python though !!

  • @1339LARS Thanks for your comment. The Python is a Beautiful revolver and I hard hitter

  • that makes no sense saying it is a defensive gun its a gun you can go offense or defense with any gun.

  • Where can I buy one of these guns? I've been looking everywhere but I can't find it online, or at any of the flea markets. Help?

  • What generation is this pistol, 3rd? I'm having a hard time just searching info for this one you have.

  • @VegaSec This model is the last in the DS series some call it Generation 4 made between 1993 and 1995 I am not a "Collector" just looking for a high quality snubbie IMO this one has you covered !

  • Very good! I liked very much! I've a Taurus PT 138 Pro Millennium in .380ACP (15+1 rounds) and I think that I going to buy a Rossi Revolver 636 model, caliber .38SPL, with 6 rounds (identical to your Colt Detective Special Snub Nose). Do you think that will to be a good buy? Thank you.

  • Dont want that hammer.... 686

  • in my opinion.this is the best snub nose revolver ever made, past or present.

  • @butchy586 I cant name a better one. Thanks for the comment

  • My favorite comment was that it had to be fun and you had to like it to buy it. Amen. I did admire the finish on your weapon.

  • Very good presentation! I subed you! Sound like you are wanting to get something else for your Armory... Am I right?

  • No I havent had any problems with the +P. I fire light handloads most of the time. I like to rotate (fire) +P rounds that I keep in the cylinder every now and then just to keep thing fresh. My manual advises if you fire +P to have it checked every 2000 to 3000 rounds I'm not even close to that.

  • @26flash26 Got told when I bought mine, about the same time and for the same reasons, that you could use +P, but to avoid a steady diet. Actually, for this round, this gun, and the likelihood that our wives might need it, I keep recommending LOADED DOWN rounds. At likely distances, against likely targets, you want to HIT and you want HER to hit. If she can shoot a milder round, min bullet/min powder, her chances are better than if she misses with a +P. I subbed - fellow ds fan.

  • @smuckwap You make an excellent point Thanks for the useful comment and the sub.

  • And again I read another section where it says it IS ok for "certain types" of +P ammo. Have you had any trouble with it ?

  • I just read on Colt's site where they said it's not rated for +P ammo because of the "KABOOM effect" where the chamber may explode and go "kaboom".

  • nice review. i was in a shotting an now looking for some self protection. might pick up a 38. how much did you get yours for if you dont mind me asking?

  • to nlce to really use for defense. your gun can be compiscated. would be a big loss. love blue steel 38 specials. dont make em like that any more

  • @happygunhead Thanks for the comment, Its true in a way that they dont make em that way any more BUT a high quality gun today is as good if not better than a high quality gun from the past

  • @26flash26 yeah, like those high quality MIM parts used in kimbers. shit today is made cheap. period. then they charge you out the ass for it cause the lazy ass workers demand top wages. low labor wages in the phillipines keep the cost down. and quality up. those mother fuckers actually WANT there job.

  • i love revolvers

  • sweet..i dont own a revolver besides the russian nagant..but thats considered extinct to modern standards lol

  • @metallicaholic43088Thanks for the comment. That's better than owning nothing! By the way If you live in Russia are you allowed to own a Russian nagant?

  • @26flash26 actually i live in america so im not positive but im pretty sure you cant

  • @metallicaholic43088 ah st front door russian its german yuh tard jeez you need to grow up C.O.D noob

  • @stableElephant the germans never made a nagant revolver..wtf are you talking about

  • @metallicaholic43088 yea man look it up ya fuckin homosexual

  • @stableElephant why are you so angry first off all..whats with the angry slurs...and second of all...no my friend...the germans never used a nagant revolver..i am positive....im not talking about your video games...im talking real life...how bout YOU look it up your facts are based on a video game...mine are based on over 12 years of collection historical firearms...ive done the research believe me....dont get your panties all twisted up...just read a damn book before you open your mouth

  • @metallicaholic43088 i aint angry and i aint play no vidya games jeez 12 years wow u 12 hyears old gee wiz stfu idc i aint gonna read tht long ass msg of ur stupid rant sm dick dont reply i dont care i wont read it cause im mature ;p

  • @metallicaholic43088 its not russian

  • Ive always loved the lines on Colt revolvers more than any other on the market. My very first hand gun purchase at just 18 years old was a 6 in. Bright SS. Python! Still have it after 25 years as well as many other hand guns collected since. It's the jewel in my collection. The King of my safe! However over the years I've come to realize that I truly am a 1911 guy at heart! Carry on Brother!

  • @CTKTMRIDER Thanks for the comment. Hard to go wrong with the 1911 the last 100 years proved that!

  • tengo uno de ese mismo modelo en venezuela me salio en 800$ se lo compre a un gran coleccionista de aca saludos tremenda arma

  • That looks very identical to the one Jack Rubby used to kill Lee Harvey Oswald

  • how much is it?

  • Sweet Colt

  • @superlinkarts Yes Sir. That it is!

  • Awesome video! Very informative! Thanks

  • @xZk3eMx go to gunsamerica

  • I got one. Very easy to handle. Perfect for very close targets. i keep it for indoor protection. I use speed loaders.

  • @littlerayblue Congratulations! Enjoy

  • Long live the Queen! Stunning how someone else knows how better to live your life than you do.

  • i wish i could own a snuby but i live in canada and you cant own a gun with a barrel under 4.25 inches :(((

  • @snowsniper8 Whats the point?

  • @26flash26 i have no clue, are handgun laws suck up here! you have to go to a range to shoot it, cand even shoot it on ytour own property, have to have an att to even take it out of your house. cant own any firearme in 25 acp or any 32 cal that arnt for any compatition. when you buy a handgun witch is under the restricted colume, you have to have a lock box, trigger lock and a membership card to a range. handgun clips cant hold more then 10 rounds..and it goes on and on.. lol gota love canada eh

  • i really want to hunt one of these down for my first handgun when im 21. i love everything about it.

  • @2KBananaPeels its a beautifull handgun and something you may keep for the rest of your life.

  • I carry a colt agent in a shoulder rig. The agent is the same thing as the Detective except that the agent is lighter because it was not made of steel it was made of some alloy. but over all both of them are great guns.

  • @DUBLIN117 The agent is a great gun for its purpose use!

  • Perhaps the most underrated pistol of all time. If you can't solve your violence problems with this gun you're either a prepper or you're in the wrong line of work lol

  • @EMT22637 Well said

  • Best thing about revolvers is that they don't drop brass. So if you pull some shady shit, that is one less finger print to worry about

  • What a great review! It blows my review all to hell, haha. They are beautiful guns. PLEASE don't bob the hammer :( Just practice drawing with your thumb on it...its not that bad and Colts are too rare to modify. They made a hammer shroud years back (decades back) that helped with snagging and they bobbed a couple rare models at the factory but really, it makes the gun function better with a hammer than without. I have both. Great review, absolutely great, you covered so much :)

  • @snarlingrabiddog5150 I feel the same way . Thought about the shroud but No Way and for that matter NO bob.

This Gun is a WORK OF ART and a protector. It is truly a classic the way it is.

  • i have the same exact model

  • @acekiker101 Keep it brother its worth it in many ways

  • I have one identical to this one; It is one of my main CCW carry guns. After a lot of experimentation, I've found that my gun shoots more to POA with 158 grain loads that 110 or 125 grain loads, and my current ammo of choice is Remington's 158 grn SWCHP in +P; the bullets expand to over 60 caliber. My holster of choice is Bianchi's 3S IWB holster.

    Good video..............

  • @AT304 158 always shot low for me the 125 grain +P were dead or for me. But thats just the difference between a lot of factors, stick with what works for you. Bianchi's are top quality holsters I have several. Thanks for your comment

  • Outstanding video on a old favorite. Still a top grade self defense revolver.

Hey Colt, You'd make a bundle of cash not to mention making alot of people especially us older folks extremely happy if you brought back your outstanding revolvers of past. Anaconda, Python, Cobra, Detective Special, ect, ect. Maybe even add a few new models. You make em Colt. We Will Buy Them..

Outstanding video. Very well done. Thank you.

  • @Willie441 You are so on the money, sadly today its all about the big money. Today the art & quality of the gun is made by the little guy. The big corps are just greedy and dont care about anything but bottom line.

  • your dog looks like my late bichon frise

  • @thephilchannel Thanks He is a great friend

  • This is the kind of gun that a man would need to use for personal defense.. Or threaten their daughters boyfriend to not stay up together too late!

  • @twitter654 He buddy, personal defense is the rule. as for threating my dauhters boyfriends. I have 3 daughters and have NEVER had to threaten them with anything other than my words ;) Nom sayin

  • @26flash26 You never know if any bastard brings drugs.,But good point.

  • Sucks how colt doesn't make these anymore.

  • @jimothy183 Buy a used one.,friend before they cost a fortune, they will last many lifetimes ,ammo will always available.

  • why does it look so much like the Taurus 605?

  • @trevorandaj ...I think you mean, why does the taurus 605 look like a detective special.

  • I like the wooden grips too. I got this gun for personal protection . The grips that are on it feel solid.. I am a big believer in progress. "Knowledge in Youth Wisdom in Age"

  • nice gun but I like the version with smalerl wooden grip, less practical but looks better to me, maybe I watched too much 90s detective movies lol

  • exactly what model is that?

  • nice pistol.....getting mine soon.......cant wait!

  • awsome review and by the way , for me , the 38 is better then 9mm cuz , if the gun get stuk like the automatic pistols do , the revolver will slap the 9mm or .40 , a glok 40 with 30 magazine round is a great contender but , if the gun stuk ur fk , the revelver never stuk , and no safe and shit stuff , is just point and bang , the 38 federal bullet is better then 9mm bullet or .40 , is more hevier and larger

  • @IBroLLyISePhIrOtH That's not true at all. Most auto pistols can go thousands of round without cleaning or lubrication with no malfunction. Even if you do get a malfunction they can be diagnosed and cleared quickly with some training. Every revolver I shot started to get hard to shoot once they got a little dirty.

Case length doesn't mean a whole lot, and defensive loads in 9mm start at 124 grains and go up to 147 grains. 9mm is also faster, so there's more energy.

  • @AngeredKabar

let me try in ur body , i will shoot u 2 times with my colt and then with my 9mm for the TEST :-)

  • i got the same revolver

  • Love the gun I have that same gun mines nickeled though

  • Great review man! I like your review style.

  • Is it rated for+p?

  • @spritrocks Yes according to the manual BUT they advise to have it checked every 2000 to 3000 rounds

  • i really like this one. i want to buy one of these soon..^^

  • I have an old colt cobra, made in 1961. I love it and carry it all the time in the warmer weather with 110 grain hollowpoints. I prefer Colt over S+W myself, although I own a 2 1/2 " Smith, .357 Mag. It's a heavy sucker, but it carries the big loads with little recoil>
