wow, 800 hours. Based on hourly rates from the tuning shop that works on my car. 800 hours = $120,000 in labour.... just labour. parts not included. haha
Nice time-lapse movie! smooth! Do you know you can make time-lpase movies with any camera with this device: (copy address to browser): tempusALL.bymac.org
its cool but seems so pointless pulling it all apart ... how to build rally car get a car remove EVERYTHING and build back up with totally different parts.
@jason3307 yeah, i thought it was minutes at first... 4 minutes to jack the car and remove 4 tires sounds better... then again, these guys probably aren't flat rate.
Very interesting,.... and very comercial.... probably they did not left any atom remaining from the series car.....well I think Subaru badge is still remaining from the series car. hahahaha
Its to bad that a new car is just down to pieces so fast. I would love to have the money to buy all the stock unused stuff and just buy the few things they did end up using.
@zortzy Rules of rally say it has to be a road car and if it is racing for subaru rally team the car had to be originally produced by subaru. So they start with a normal STI, but also rally rules say only a 2.0 engine so as you saw they pulled out the 2.5 normal STI and put a Crate Subaru 2.0 rally engine.
Simply because rally cars need to be road legal and registered and therefore it is easier to buy a car that has been registered and officially first built buy a proper company!
its because these are production class car's, they cost £150.000 to build into a rally car,and are mostly used buy private drivers in wrc and other championships, were as the factory wrc subarus first come from japan then go to prodrive in england who turn it in to a wrc rally car at a cost of £500.000,and the drivers dont ave to pay for the car,,,,, they get paid to drive the car for subaru ,,,, hope this helps,,,, check out a video on here called how to build a wrc car
i guess its the sport spirit whats behind this szene. its easy for everybody to buy a car. i also guess it is better when a race team is working and build on a car what they are using for races, because after they have finished, they know everything about the car and that can be very usefull in action! but i only guess :D 5*
I imagine Subaru don't sell bare shells to just anyone. In any case, the shells prodrive would get for the WRC in the UK are not simply bare shells, they come off the production line early before being dipped and before extraneous brackets are welded on to the road car shell.
as much sense as that would make, they use the drive system, so if they were to start with a shell from subaru they would then have to buy the engine (and build it up) and then the transmision, and then the rear end.
not to be mean, but you see where this is going? as expensive as it is to dissasemble a car and build it back, it would be far more to buy a shell and build it up.
No, I agree with you, maybe I was misunderstood because I said "Shell"
What I mean is if Subaru is an actual sponsor how hard is it for them to grab one car of the production line and leave it without door panels, seats, carpet etc. Just put it together to the minimum.
got it, i think that subaru has to make sure that the car works on the track before it leaves the plant... or they normally do but they just made this time lapse movie because it is really friggen cool.
just my two cent that i'm adding to the net... lol?
ive got a random question here does any one know if the drivers of a wrc car gets charged with anything if there in a rally and they go off track and kill or hurt someone and by the way awsoem video and i think travis pastrana is awsome
This is just amazing - I'm still smiling now at how this was done. Seems a shame to strip out a normal road car though! Can I have the engine and interior please?!?! ;-)

Probably because of rules. Prob has to be based on a production car, and a chassis probably doesn't count.
