@89tero - If you mean Christian, yes, he has passed away...no on knows for sure when he died, because he was released into the wild in the early 1970's...and a male lion, in the wild, lives for *approximately* 10 - 12 years...in captivity they can live up to 15 years or more. Remember Christian was born in 1969...so, he might have lived until around 1980 or so.

I'll always wonder if growing up domesticated affected his ability to fight a wild Lion. Once again, people are to blame. When Christian became full grown, he was bigger than his pal Boy. George thought he was about 500 pounds. Christian was MASSIVE. I have the book and the DVD of this story. It IS incredible! Christian was a remarkable lion and the best lion around people that there will EVER be. What a story!

The whole reason for Ace and John buying Christian to begin with was to take him out of captivity. Living in a cage at a store was not the answer for him. He had to be set free. It was the only way he could be in a natural environment, to get used to Africa. He wouldn't have had the freedom had he been in a zoo or animal park. Even though it's a hard fact that Christian is gone, Ace and John did the VERY BEST thing for Christian that they could have FOR HIM. The book and the DVD are fantastic.

Just like dogs, they don't forget and they remember their scent for their lifetime. Had they seen Christian again, at any time later on, he would have known them. Dogs remember mostly from scent, so do lions. Incredible sense of smell. Try to hide from your dog, either in your house or yard. Your dog WILL find you in seconds. I learned that years ago. :o)

Google Kevin Richardson. Although it isn't the Christian story, it is really remarkable as well. This guy LIVES in Africa with MULTIPLE lions. Watch the youtube videos, you won't believe it. The lions actually accept Kevin into their pride thinking he's a lion. It's jaw dropping to watch him interact and handle them as he does. They are all full grown NON tamed lions in the wilds of Africa.

No, no one knows what happened. It's anyone's guess. At one time, he did have a pride. Christian just moved on and George never saw him again. Ace and John saw him with the reunions but never again either. They were, for the most part, out of the picture by then too. George was later killed by poachers. Kind of instinctively, Christian moved on. Africa, for a male lions is VERY harsh. He probably didn't live all that long but I sure hope so. Possibly, some of his relatives are still there. :o)

The Kora reserve is where Christian left from. No one knows where he went or ended up. Lions in the harshness of Africa, especially being a lone male after Boy was killed, don't live long. I highly doubt Christian lived anywhere close to 10 years old in that environment. The males from other prides are EXTREMELY dangerous. Since it's been 40 years ago, no, I wouldn't suspect anyone is there anymore. :o(
