@catlover383 nope, they found out it wasn´t him but it is still announced as his piece of work. It was part of the opera "Diomedes" by a different composer.
@thomase13 Yes, but I still can not believe that they announce it as Bach´s work on the radio for example. Fame sells ;) I wish I could find out something equally interesting as the question whether Bach wrote it or not.
@leprechaunishable no its not Bach it was attributed to him but they recently found that it was actually Gottfried Heinrich Stolzel who wrote this piece.
They prefixed this amazing tribute to human art with an advertisement for an annoying crackho-mangina retard singing some appalling generic mainstream rap. I'm not normally quite so judgemental, but in this case I'm praying that the guy will one day encounter the Purple Shirted Eye Stabber.
By the way, I'm not anti-rep per se, but the dude was 'yo dawg I herd u leik stereotypes so I underwent a lobotomy and suffered from (and inflicted you eith) a scorching case of musical diarrhea'.
Sicher, es isr barock, aber ich empfinde eine Vorahnung zum romantischen Kunstlied. Und so musiziert, dass ich nicht neugierig bin auf eine andere Fassung.
@mcclurgoman True, but the English idiom equivalent is more like "If you are with me" or "with you by my side." "Abide with me" does bring out the full meaning pf the lyrics, but it doesn't sound as much like something an English speaker would say in the context of the song. "If you are with me, I [can] go with joy to my death and to my rest." Literally "Abide with me, and I go with joy to my death and to my rest."

@leprechaunishable It's now attributed to Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel. It's pretty recent though.

The work is by Stoelzel, mistakenly contributed to Bach.

Remarkable :) It brings you from joy to death... no one but Bach can make this combination sound like this :)

sehr schön und "natürlich" gesungen, bravo! das stück stammt übrigens wahrscheinlich nicht von j. s. bach, sondern von gottfried heinrich stölzel.
