How come TV shows like this never end on the likes of UK gold and the likes? they just repeat the same old tat! I forgot about this show until i was searching another oldie "Vegas" which i have never seen since it was on originally. There are a lot of shows out there I have never seen since they were on first time around which is a shame really! they deserve to be shown again.
They did some interesting scene arranging in this (no different from any other I suppose). There was a car chase where the two cars high tailed it down Upper Upnor High Street near Strood and turned right when they got to the end!! In reality this was impossible because of a big drop between this road and the hill down to the river front. So in the programme they turned right into a completely different road altogether! They also stuck an imitation phone box half way up the street.
At first, i thought this was CATS Eyes, the BBC schools programme which featured Rowland Rivron, which the person below me, was probably referring to.
Sorry. Have to disagree there. Rosalyn Landor was just pure class. Cant beat a bit of posh tottie. Never got as much screen time as Leslie or Jill. Shame :-(
yeh, it was performed by Louise Burton (apparently, she appeared in some episodes of Are You Being Served? if its the same one.) not played the vinyl for years...lyrics were something like "dont try to move me, dont plan to fool me, some cats dont ever love, my intuition says, your one ambition is....running out, every night, searching for paradise... I so wish i still had a record player, lol!
jill gascoine now lives in calfornia and is married to the guy who had four arms in one of the spidermen movies also cats eyes was a great show but the issue is with this who now owns the rights to this tv series as it went to america but no body is sure who owns the rights now
Why did every 'comedian' in the 80's make fun of Rosalyn Landor? I thought she was so damn sexy. And that posh accent certainly does it for me. Great actress too. ;-)
Great to hear from someone that worked on this great show. Being a stagehand i guess you became an expert at arranging cardboard boxes for the girls to drive through...lol. Every episode seemed to have snow in the first series,i'm sure maggie always remembered being frozen if i remember rightly from an interview she did years later.I have all of these on tape/DVD,but an official release looks very slim,i believe Beuna Vista hold the rights to CATS EYES these days. Oh the first series was my fave
not really we tryed not to disrupt things to much we had traffic control and most people were happy to go along with what was going on,
this was the 80,s.then there was a pride in having a regional TV company and people were a lot more helpful then.now i don't know.i was made redundant in 92 when meridian got the franchise for ITV in the south.
it is great that you show an interest in this old program will it ever get to DVD who knows.i hope so.
@brybish Great to hear about your work on this show. I recently got all of the series on torrents. I love the fact that it used the local area(kent and the Solent) so much! The producers seemed to use Chatham a lot(I noticed the Pentagon Centre car park in one episode), plus Dover Docks(when it had hovercraft going from it).
Correct me if I'm wrong but did they use Maidstone to double as Amsterdam in the episode where Fred meets her old friend?
@alphabetaxenonzzzcat not sure about the maidstone amsterdam question as cats eyes was crewed by the maidstone boys i only got on when some one went on holiday.chatham was used a lot cos the production offices were there and the inside stuff was done there and the dockyard was a good controled space.you know more about the episodes than me and it was a long time ago:( . info on torrents would be good cos i think thats the only way to ever see cats again.
@brybish The torrents are still up on the UKNova site. You have to register, but they are there still. All three series. I'd say you have about three weeks till they delete them. I think it is the only way you are going to get hold of the series.
Could this title sequence *be* any more 1985? ;) This music is credited to John Kongas ('Step On'?) in all its FM-synthesis glory. Agreed that the later series' title music was way better though.
i was a stagehand. used to work mostly on construction (setting the next location)the production was based at chatham dockyard and the whole thing was filmed around kent.
I remember watching this at school just before we broke up for a holiday. Brilliant, thanks for uploading

Rosalyn Landor was probably the most beatiful actress to appear on British TV at any point during the big hair 80's.
She had the acting skills of a cucumber - but that didn't matter.
The scripts were all bad enough to cover for her.

Big hair, shoulder pads, lip gloss and a Ford XR3i (with extra spot lights) it just, did not get any better in 80's London.

Jill Gasgoine = still the hottest of the 3 ladies in this show.
I would give her my loving first, perhaps having a go with the Redhead just for a bit of strange.
Even before the trout pout I do not fancy Leslie Ash but might have a go if drunk, only if Jill & the redhead were not up for it.

I thought Rosalyn Landor looked hotter 5 years before this series in an episode of "Hammer House of Horror" titled 'Guardian of the Abyss'.
Unlike C.A.T.S. Eyes it is currently available on DVD.
She was also in 'The Speckled Band' an episode of Sherlock Holmes where she looked prim, but attractive.

i agree - up there with one of my first wanks she woz :P

All synthy, computery and quintessentially 80's. :D
