The jacket is from Japan. It is a middle school uniform outfit believe it or not. When I was out as Musical Director for Universal Studios Japan the outfit caught my eye. They are great for gigging in the states but not in Japan. Good eye!hahahaa
pretty much the funniest thing to watch-- I got to see him at a conference thing a while ago. One of the guest artists he was playing with spent Scott's whole solo staring at him with this really weird freaked out look and then slowly turned his head to one of the other guys in the group and just shook his head with this questioning look. I think I was one of the very few who noticed.... hehehe.
Weird, I've never heard of an electronic valve instrument before. What is it exactly and how does it work? I play most brass instruments, is it anything like that, or is it a reed, or do you simply blow into the machine?
The EVI actually has a sensor in the mouth piece that "senses" you breath velocity. You can set the sensitivity of the breath sensor so low that the instrument will actually play without blowing into the instrument at all (so you can practice while watching the tube:) It fingers like the low octave on the trumpet except is has an addition left finger function.
Thanks for the props on the tune. I love that tune. It is a simple 1, 7-3, 6, 5-1, 4 standard stock changes (much like Another You or Freight Train). However, this tempo and rhythmic style makes these changes take on a whole new life. Thanks again.
He beats the shit out of that pitch bend. Way cool!

So futuristic, but what's with the Nehru jacket? What year is it--1967? Oh well, back to the future, I guess.

So, which is better, the EVI or James Morrison's MDT??
bobilleg74 3 years ago
At this point of time, I am going to sugest MDT. But within the year that was, your ideas may have changed?

great to see someone cover a relatively obscure Hank Mobley tune. I'm reminded of Pat Metheny on guitar synth too!
