  • Hmmm... so.. I guess if you just put it right into the bag after blanching, the food saver will squash it! (lol.. no pun intended!) Good video and idea - Thanks (and thanks for suscribing to my channel - I've done same w/yours!)

  • I steam my squash as if i were going to eat it right away then freeze it. The texture is much better.

  • Great Job... Thank you for the Video.

  • Other ways of using up your Courgettes (Zucchinis) is to make Chutneys, Ratatouille, or Courgette Loaf. Thanks for sharing.

  • @clairesallotment Would you do a video on how you make that? It sounds great!

  • @cfenster When the kids have gone back to school I'll have the house to myself again, and then I'll make a film about them.

  • Going to try this with the squash that I did not eat with lunch. Thanks for posting.

  • do not understand because there is no sound

  • @haleytased it must be something wrong with your browser, speakers, volume setting, or sound card!

  • Looks great!

  • Just the video i needed to watch.Great video!

  • If you douse them in ice water after straining they won't get overcooked and will remain firmer. Blessings!

  • @SleepIsMagic Boililg is necessary to kill the bacteria that naturally come on veggies. This bacteria will still live in the freezer. Canning is more harsh on the veggie nutrients but it is a much safer investment since the electricity to run you freezer can go out and cause total loss for the product and all that hard work. I purposely grow enough to last me at least 1 year.

  • I do corn that way only soak in ice water after boiling. I did freeze some squash last year and found a way to do it using the microwave. It was very easy, did not taste like fresh picked though. lol Should try it your way, thanks for sharing.

  • @loislaney23 We put up Daniels corn last week just as you mentioned. (we took it off the cob though). Should have made the video but didn't have time. Thanks Lo

  • Thanks for that....

Looking to process some carrots tomorrow the same way...

    Have a great one...

  • @bnbob01 Thank you! You have a great one too!

  • Thanks for sharing, I am going to try this. Would you do a sweet squash that way too? I would love to see more ways that you preserve garden vegetables and fruits. I just started gardening this year and I have lots of extra cucmbers. My large tomatos are starting to ripen. I also have okra, garden peas, and green beans that I might want to save some of. Did you try your tomatillas and how do you like them. I have never tried those and thought about planting some next year.

  • @Calliedollpie If you are talking about butternut squash or some other type of winter squash (by sweet squash) those types of squash need to be fully cooked before freezing them. (Do not try to can squash... they have characteristics that create gas that make it very difficult to get a proper seal for the jar).

  • @Calliedollpie I make pickles with the cucumbers, can and freeze green beans and Okra, I can my tomatoes and make salsa, spaghetti sause and tomato soup with my tomatoes, I never have enough peas to "put up". The family and I eat them like candy.

I believe the tomatillo's are a failed project for me... I have't seen a single fruit that stayed on the plant! they all fell off?

  • @mainemike52 As long as you do not over cook squash when you blanch it and freeze it the way that I did it turns out great! We boil, steam and fry it after freezing it this way! Nothing like good ole garden squash in the winter!
