I’m 17 & have been playing cello for 6 years. Like everyone else, I have a dream-to be the next Yo-Yo Ma. I have a long way to go but it would be great to have some professional advice from fellow musicians so I can improve. So if anyone can take a few minutes to check out my videos, I would greatly appreciate it
I feel like the only reason this is just a picture is to make sure I'm not scared she didn't hurt herself from her movements lol. Just kidding. I love this. Great upload. Thank you!
it has been hard especially in the 3rd movement but it sounds great. but nowhere am i close to being a great as jacqueline du pre. she is the all-time goddess of cello. i am already finished learning, and i am now preforming. U really shouldn't be amazed since i started playing when i was 5. so... i am actually behind. thanks though QwertyAzerty2009
I am 13 years old and currently playing this. I am not nearly as fast or in tune. But I got the notes and expression down. Out of all pieces I have ever played, this is my favorite. I would also recommend listening to Romberg my favorite composer of all time.
@amitayshahar Have you listened to the Elgar Concerto much? When you play it, don't let anyone discourage you by saying things like "No one could possibly play it like Du Pre", because you wouldn't want to play it like DuPre. Everyone develops their own style. The same goes for any piece. Good luck in all your playing!
im 13 and... shut the fuck up we don't care kids all over the world play this. you probably play it like shit, it's so rare for a 13 year old to have the maturity to play this the way du pre does.
@yeashow123 That's really not constructive; a lot of children play this concerto very well, and many have amazing maturity too. Not that many people could play it in the way that DuPre did, but the only way people can is if they improve. I didn't play this concerto very well at when I first started it, but now I love playing it (along with both Haydn concertos, Dvorak, Shosti, and the other Saint Saens Concerto), and I definitely don't compare myself to DuPre. Do you play this concerto?
it might just not be their style of playing and they don't want to see another... Different people, different playing styles... For example, I know a friend who plays it more gently than I do and i disagree but its not like i can do anything right? Hey its free speech man... haha...
One thing i really hate people doing while I'm trying read good comments is useless comments like telling people that you're playing this and practicing? Just say you like the piece dammit
@fiilipata why do you tell us that you are 13 and play this?.. thats nothing special.. nerly everyone who learns cello plays it with 13.. if you were 9 and would play it it would be special.. and then just if it sounds good..
My sister played this song this song this year. She's 14 and of course it could never be as good as jacqueline du pre but listening to this I can tell she copied alot of the stylistic elements from her

@yellowjanie never ever copy something from jaquilne !.. that is the worst thing you can do.. noone can play it like her and if you try it sounds terrible.. every teacher loves her playing, but hates her because everyone tries to play like her.. ;)..
I'm playing this right now, i'm 17. It's just so much freakn fun. It's so amazing. I'm gonna have to practice it still a little more. Hopefully i;ll be as good as she is.
Just got into a State competition playing this piece. It is INTENSE. So exhilarating and satisfying to play, and listening to Jackie is transporting to a different world.
SHe is just flawless. that triplet bowing on the first page leading up to the high E are just flawless with INTENSE vibration and i love her slightly anticipated descent to the low not

Her play is greatness beyond all imagining Her glory will not fade. The music is there, for all the centuries, to tell those of the future that it was possible and that it was real and someone did do it.
this is wonderful... I be starting to play this soon, and I'm so excited, I can't wait!!! omgomgomgomg, and I'm going to go to music camp and be playing this and be the youngest person there (i'm 13) and whoa, that's gonna be scary... and I'm so excited to be playing this, it's one of my favorite concertos ever in the universe and Jackie is such an inspiration!!! She's the absolute best cellist in the universe!! I love you so much Jackie, why did you have to die??????????
@LightningSpeedRacer I went to Luzerne Music Camp in Luzerne, NY... nicee, I saw that program but I already knew someone who went to Luzerne... so yeah.
This concerto is so much fun to play. I should practice my All State etudes more than this because of the audition and everything, but it's just so irresistable!!!! <33333
I simply admire her!!! She's even better than Yo-Yo Ma! :)

One of the great cello concertos, often played too slow. She was amazing, technically, of course, and musically. What a huge loss!
