I love this Hymn very much. It is the first time that even englisch sounds in German Language. God bless you. The Holy Spirit give ayou a strenghth for everlasting to sing this Hymn. Thank you. Jesus died for my sin on the cross. he loved me befor i love him. God the Vater, I praise your Holy Name. Halleluja.

It's one of the earliest Luther hymns. At our church we generally sing it on Ash Wednesday.

A guitar rendition would probably sound very much like what it originally sounded like when Luther was writing it. Luther's instrument was the lute.

ha ha good song! we play this song at my old church, but we have the guitar version. i LOVE this song...Luther was truly a pre-Calvinist Reformed person!
