  • Not exactly Spyro Gyra bur you don't see many people playing this stuff around that much. Good to see there are folks who are keeping the sound alive. I say Crowd liked it...way to go guys! We need more of this and not the acid rock and rap junk that we hear at the store.

  • My car stereo ate this tape and I never bought it again. Reminds me of summer from school as a waitress. Fun times!

  • Not the Spyro Gyra I remember. Looks lite the drummer is only one left; sad cause the magick is gone to me.

  • Luvin it! Lot's of sweet memories!

  • Love the SG cover although I am laughing at those who are arguing about the personal life of this guitarist and completely missing the fact that the star here is the alto player. It is clear that even the guitarist knows he is merely comping the sax. Enjoy the music or go to another video...if you haven't noticed there are a few others on this websire. THIS BAND GETS IT...you guys apparently don't.

  • I never said he couldn't still play! I just think the whole boring jazz thing combined with the short hair, 500 extra pounds and his attempt at now trying to be goodie church dad is a little disapointing. I know it has been 18 years but you don't go from being major outspoken in your face liberal rebel to jazzy conservative church man without some alterior motive. My guess is he's doing it to look good as he's climbing the corporate ladder which comes back to my original post; SELL OUT!

  • @SLCROCKER123 Can't a person change? Can't a person better him or herself? Why must someone have sinister motives if they attend church? For me, I like this performance and don't care what their background might be, they sound great today!

  • we used to play this and cockatoo in jazz band in high school my band teacher was who turned me on to sg....love it.

  • Great alto player! After watching this I am going to take my version off of youtube.

  • Why the anger over a Spyro Gyra song? I think these guys are great. I'm trying to learn the piano & synth parts and I've returned to watch this video a few times only to find bickering over the guitar music this guy chooses to play. Let him play jazz and you can play metal. As someone who also plays guitar I certainy couldn't play a solo like that and jusdging from your page you are good in your own way too. Why not just enjoy or at least respect different genres?

  • @trimaximus Why don't you do us all a favor and slam your girl head with your piano lid!!!! Then let me stand on top and play some Sepultura on your smash ass head! How would that be oh wait I already know it would be f****insanely nirvanic!!!!! Love peace and smash your f********** head in the piano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scroo you too trimaxipad!

  • Jay Beckenstein would be proud! Never heard it done on an Alto...nice work! The synth sax deal is also cool; whatever it is. I also like the bluesy rock presence the guitar adds. It puts an altogether different attack on the song and takes the 80's sound out of it. Not neccessarily better (or worse) than Julio's Cuban/Caribbean signature guitar sound just different and refreshing for a SG cover.

  • Good cover but a little too close to the album version for my taste. SG in their live performances shake the melody up a bit and extend the solos. Jazz is about improv and making the song new every time you play it. Regurgitating the song from teh album is for pop stars.

  • Anderson Cooper on Sax, Legolas on Keys, Mike Huckabe on Drums, Lost Illegit Baldwin Brother on Guitar...All Star Band!!!

  • LOL!

  • Nice sound...brings me back to high school. We all tried to learn this song on sax. Almost makes me want to dig my tenor out of my parents shed and see if I can still play...almost :-)

  • Good job...fun to hear it played a little faster than normal.

  • Agreed! SG was never about guitar! You have to judge SG covers by the sax relating to Beckenstein and this man does a fine job. About the only fine cover of one of my favorite songs I have seen on you tube. I would like to see this fine performed from the begining though. It says you can find the whole thing out there but my searches have not found it. Can you tell me where it is TheZizzers?

  • @47bakerstreet1 I got it from the bumlosis channel which is Ryans own channel of his own where you can watch the whole video posted. I made it shorter to make it interesting. They all live by me and I know the drummer and sax player pretty well. I will see if they have more to watch.

  • After I wrote that I just checked the source where I downloaded this video. It looks like Ryan doesn't have this video posted anymore. Too bad because it talked about the song (that is how I learned the name of this song, never heard it before but now I see it all over YOUTUBE, must be popular). I am new to YOUTUBE and don't know how to restore it to the full performance like he had on his site. Like I said I see these guys almost every week and will ask one of them. Sorry!

  • Hey SLCROCKER you must be some kind of idot! Jazz takes considerably; more skill and intellect than rock. This is a great cover of a great song! My guess is that this guy has advanced while you're still trying to learn slayer tunes in your bedroom. Great bluesy solo but did you not notice the pedal work? The rhythm work? Chord changes? I hear a well rounded player. Besides this group clearly isn't about the guitar; did your metal mind miss the sax player? These guys display true skill!

  • @MrRhoadestim Say what you want man, but as someone who knew Sagers when he was actually a relevant musician and watching him now play boring sh*t like this shows exactly what happens when true artists sell their soul. He's now a corp ladder climbing, church going, takin kids to karate in the Lexis SUV poser. Not my idea of a real musician. AND who cares if Jazz is harder to play it only means he spends too much time practicing sh*tty music. Rock will never die but Jazz already did! scroo U!

  • I do a search for Sagers to see if he is still on the scene and find him PLAYING JAZZ!!! LAME!!! I remember when he smashed a fire extinguisher through the wall during one of his shows at Wooly's! Went from hard core rocker to fat a** jazz player. I guess that's what happens when good guitarists go MO!!! What a sell out!
