In the very late 1980s/early 90s, R.E.M., with songs like Stand and Shiny Happy People, entered a period in which it (partly) seemed most in synch with the joyous spirit of that other great Athens, Georgia band, The B52s. With some beautiful singing and thought provoking lyrics, this quirky, clever , fun 50s/early 60s inspired band deserve for Roam to become as well known as Love shack. In fact, I prefer Roam as it features the most beautiful singing in rock.
