Nice Star Trek tribute; heck, the font is the same as the original Star Trek logo! And the music sounds very similar to the ST theme! Sesame Street sure was a stickler for coming out with songs that sound very much like other songs without using the exact melody. Oh, and you could tell that it was Jim Henson who played the captain. Shatner would never have sounded that excited.
Jerry Nelson sure enjoys performing characters that say "greetings". In addition to Chunky Cheese, there's the Count (of course), SAM the Robot, the Emperor from "The Mystery of the Four Dragons", and one of the Yip Yip Martians.
Great point! Speaking of that trivia, he also voices his greetings as one of the 'Five Little Pigs' in the classic Sesame Street News clip... He's the had-roastbeef pig. Check it out! :~)
True, and someone I didn't mention before is Mumford, who says "greetings" at the beginning of the clip where he demonstrates surprise, just like this clip does.
"Fascinating." Ah, memories of Sesame Street's kid-friendly homage to the "Star Trek" franchise. Yes, "Sesame Street" is owned by the Sesame Workshop, while "Star Trek" is owned by CBS.
This is baased on the Original Star Trek where the Plant H one was based on The Next Generation so you don't have the Bald Captain or The Klingon looking muppet.
they must crash becuase he stops flying the ship so he can tell his crew mate why they fly from planet to planet

Hey, you guys aren't going to believe this... but that Sesame Street Website just poseted up an HQ version of this skecth...
It's pretty cool... but I still prefer this one a lot better. For one thing, theres no logo blocking it... and Sawings brought it back first.
This one's got my vote over the HQ one any day.

I really like this alot! I love surprises and I like the part where they make that landing!

the Crash-landings were always my fav bits too. But I always thought it was the Cpts fault.
I thought that when he went beserk, the ship got all upset.
Still... my sibs and I used to play SS in a huge box and we'd rock all over the place pretending to crash.
Heh... it almost looks fun, but I don't think it looks safe to try.

YEAH, they used to land on some real weird planets.

Yeah... and one other thing.
Cptn Kirk was never cowardly like The Captian up there. Hiding in bush, getting all jummpy. going "YEEEEES!!"
Heh: "Brave Captian?"
But most important: *Ship Crashes* "AAAAAH!! Ow." At least Shanter's character would never allow the ship to slam down like that. Ohh *Faints*

You know... I really wonder what would it be like if they made sketches based ofn DEEP SPACE NINE, or VOYAGER.
But then agian they already did a DSN on Muppets Tonight.
Still I wish they made more of this one, I have good planet ideas

But who performed the Cheering Chairs?
Deanmo23 4 years ago
Hmm... now that's a tricky one.
Well... its a long shot, but from the sound of their voices... I'm going on a limb and say..
Marty Robinson (Who is also the disembodied Narrator)
and the other is Frank OZ
it would make sense seeing as how Jim, Richard, and Jerry were all busy with the other three muppets

Its been up here for a while now.
In fact, it was the thing that started us SS fans on the request for the old sketches.

Ahhh, "Spaceship Surprise"- a real Sesame parody institution. The dissolving of the logo at the end always gave me chills!
