  • I love this type of music so much thank you for putting this up.

  • Like you said, this probably isn't many people's cup of tea, but when used correctly it doesn't sound that bad. I quite like your piece. I also did music for GCSE, and I reckon I was on Edexcell too.

  • imagine being tied up in a poorly lit room with this music playing, and then a clown walked in holding a sea bass and a gas mask and said it's time to play HAHAHAHAHA

  • @TehCacti You have great fantasy (Iwon'tsleepatnight)

  • whats the piece called?

  • the beginning is very dark. great.

  • is the sound from sibelius or something similar?

  • This is my favourite rendition of Johnny B Goode.

  • Yep, and apparently the exam is going to be hard this year!!

  • Music exam in about 24hours!!!

  • @STJukes same bro same :/

  • hmmmmm....i really dont see what the exams find interesting about this style of music? - its hard to get a bad mark for it though coz its so easy to compose and all serialistic music sounds shit anyway!

  • I'm doing a music GCSE exam in two days and this has really helped :)

  • the wrongness of this music is intriguing...

  • Just like the Game Boy games boss fight lol. Good Job, I can't do such music because it's out of my harmonic sense.

  • Serialism had to be the biggest waste of time I did for GCSE music, luckily being a drummer I just did an african drumming piece with an expressionist type score using a series of scribbles to syombolise certain drum patterns and the size determined how loud they were. Good luck guys I got my A so keep up the work :)

  • i am learing about this type of music in skl now n i think this peice if quit gd compared 2 the 1s i hav listen 2 at skl ... i was just wounderin wether it is spossed 2 be a sort of scary ... if so i think it is bril :D well done :D

  • I HAVE TO DO THIS! and i have no clue

  • Because it's the easiest to do once you pick your 12 note prime order? :D

  • Because it's relatively easy to get decent marks and I wasnt held back by musical ignorance.

  • @richardlessen Well said

  • @mikeyrose94 Its not his fault he understand music, unlike you, who "doesnt know nout" about music

  • this is really interesting. i havent considered this cause i though it would be too hard. We on WJEC board. weve gor Musical Structure, Music from Stage and Screen, Musical Evolutions, Music from Wales and Music for special occasions

  • @mikeyj1993

When I was doing GCSE it was under the section of Expressionism, but I think I was on the Edexcell board. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be so long as you know a small amount about serialism and how to put the same line of notes together in different ways, etc.

My music teacher was an absolute genius and he helped me a lot in terms of figuring out a structure, but yeah, if youre interested you should go for it, though Im not sure how it would fit into your sections. :/

  • oo sounds good do you know what you got for it? :D

  • I started music GCSE this year and serialisim s driving me round the bend. U done well in this piece though, its good.

  • like a terror movie soundtrack xD

  • im in ma last year of gcse now so hard haha

  • Man, I remember Serialism from last year in GCSE, that's some crazy stuff! I took Music A level by the way. Don't, it's so hard.

  • hallo

this sounds great but i still dont know what does serialism is? wich is the basis of this. Thank you!

  • serialism is a style of music that is basically more understandable when its read rather than listened too. It uses 12 tones, so its atonal, and it is written with a few techniques (im not sure of the actual names) which involve reversing the pattern of 12 notes, inversing it, and inversing at reversing it. I know there is names for it but i cant remember. it was started in the early 20th century by schoenburg.

  • ¡Great fenderbender! thanxs

  • Dodecaephonic

  • ? What about dodecaephonic?

  • hmmm noo. you are talking about the twelve tone technique, its not the same thing

  • you have to use something called a note row - a grid whereby you fill in the notes of a chromatic scale in any order on the first line, and continue downward going up a semitone each time, but in any order in the rows. You have to base your piece on a melody or chords from the order of notes in any of the rows - but you are not allowed to mix up the melody/miss out any notes from the note row. Therefore your piece has to convey a mood more through use of dynamics/tempo etc. It is REALLY hard

  • Tone Row. Actually lol :)

  • I call it a note row, sorry :)

  • Lol its ok, just in music i been told its always the Tone Row and on videos its always so that to so yeah lol, just thought i would correct you if you didn't know the proper term.

  • haha yeh it's fine :) It can be both xx

  • I'm doing this for A level. Not Easy

  • LOVED IT! congratulations. very serialistic

  • ps: i dont usually like serialism, like many others im suree aha! but this composition is really good!

  • i swear everyone has a music exam tomoro!

    gooood luck to allll (Y)

serious help to me too, thanks(:

  • Ahhh I have my music exam tomorrow aswell. I'm so nervous for it. I didn't do too well in the mock..!

  • whooooooo music exam, bring it b****s

  • very good for serialism, im revising for my exam tomorrow aswell and this helped, so thanks.

  • serialism is suppost to sound like shite lol but it sounds like it will get a good grade doing my music writing and listening gcse test tomorrow

  • Yeah, Ive got my exam tomorrow. If Im lucky I might just scrape an A.

And yeah, this piece gave me the highest mark out of all my coursework :P

  • I chose to do mine on serialism.

    Worst decision ever.

Although mine isnt bad its had and takes alot of time to make

  • i hate serialism with a passion!

but this helps loads - im listening to music as revision for my music exam in a few weeks so cheers man :) x

  • ye me 2 this helps ALOT thx!
