How did she learn this, did she study music on page, or perhaps rainbow method. I know a lot of kids today learn by the rainbow mwthod, that is when you have colors mapped out for you and you can pin point each color with a key. Hence, the rainbow method of learning.

I agree and disagree. I think that this child is been practicing way too much for her young age. She is a prodigy for sure, but at that young age, to be playing like that she had to practice a lot. I just think that the parents of these children are pushing them too much. The children should have a childhood. Children should be seen and heard. Childhood is a journey, not a race

I have to admit that I'm a bit jealous of her.

I loved music since day I was born (literally) and have shown talent for it, but my mother never wanted me to take piano lessons (even though we had one) because she didn't like it and wanted me to play basketball witch I always hated.

The result is that I don't play ether basketball or piano. >_>

Still, am happy that at least some people can work on their talents and improve them. :)

what depresses me is when people are sooo good and dont want to or like to play. it makes me sad, because i WISH i could have taken lessons for 7 or 8 years, i prolly wouldnt have quit, i love piano and have been teaching myself for a year. if i had a teacher i could play like this or close enough eventually!

There is pressure from the media that piano lessons make your kid smarter - this is false - especially if the child hates piano anyway. Its the understanding of classical genre that makes for a more organised way of thinking, not the lessons themselves that help. I see a lot of negativity toward classical piano that comes from jealous parents venting! But I love classical piano! Its great!

okay it is impressive that she can play this piece fast, but her tempo is never the same, and she has the same the dynamic throughout the piece except for at the end. playing a classical piece isn't about how fast you play it, it is about the interpretation. dynamics and tempo are very important! i know you can be expressive, but this is a fast Beethoven piece, not a slow and melodic piece. believe me i am a youth student taking lessons at a university! i am so fortunate!

Music is something that you either love or you dont .. regardless of your age.. its not like the parents whip their children and tie them to the piano... and these kids all grow up to appreciate music greatly, and have a better understanding of the world ... they will be better prepared when they are older also to deal with college as its proven that music makes ya smarter

Exactly, it is not a matter of Asian children being smarter than American children. Unfortunately these children are likely losing part of their childhood, especially if they are that good at the piano already. It's understandable wanting to instill a sense of discipline in your children, but not so much that they grow up to be emotionless robots.
