  • This seems a bit tense to me... maybe I am just not getting it, I like them both, just doesn't seem to flow well together... but, perhaps I am wrong.... fun to see them together though. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Dirty Dancing on Tom Jones, GO JANIS, I'll always miss you!

  • It's a pity Tom Jones chose to be a Las Vegas style crooner, rather than venturing into straight ahead rock or blues. That voice is limitless in range and power - no male singer could match him.

  • kick ass upload!!WOW!!!! i'm speechless, thanks!

  • Tom Jones and Janis Joplin rule!!!

  • What a fantastic performance by 2 musical legends! So sad that network TV no longer even tries to bring us anything this good in prime time.

  • Increíble e irrepetible. Gracias por subir esta joya y ponerla al alcance de todos. Mil Gracias!!

  • This song should to be longer.

  • My god, when I saw the title "Tom Jones with Janis Joplin" almost I fall to the ground. F*cking magnificent.

  • Blue-eyed soul done RIGHT. Legendary stuff here!

  • wasn't even alive when this happened, but just a big smile on my face watching it... two legends

  • :-)

  • ¡Vaya voces las de estos dos angelitos!!.Ambos admirados por mí.Por cierto, puedo imitar bastante bien a ambos, aunque l´gicamente son algo mejores que yo...Felicidades por bajar este vídeo.

  • I was born in 1990. My mom was right....life really ISN'T fair...

  • Awesome stuff.

  • S'not as if Tom can't carry a tune, but for my money Janis eats him for breakfast here. Two superb talents - shame we lost one of them too soon,

  • @graham62k I don't agree,he keeps up with her.Perfect chemistry

  • @graham62k The song is played in a key more fit for Janis,,,,two of the very best singers of all time!!

  • Stupid 60's dancing.

  • Spot on Tom could sing the blues.

  • Tom Jones' dance is awesome.

  • Watching this, I feel all arguments are invalid.

  • "The Wales' Tiger" looks like little kitty compared with Janis Joplin

  • @TheAlexisvergara You're SO Right !! He can't touch her Brilliance ...xo

  • Oh, my gosh. These two cats are really getting it down. Dig the moves. Tom had more sex appeal and talent than most of them. Janis was out of this world.

    I love the brass.

  • Damn! I actually remember seeing this when it was on T.V. I was in the T.V. room in the navy barracks in Bainbridge Maryland. Can't believe I found this on you tube.

    What a rush!

  • That... Was... AWESOME! XD

  • Very good!

  • This is when we lived; visceral and unbridled; we had given up trying to mesh into the status quo; our futures had already passed and we lived in the moment for that is all we had. To be alive again....I miss it so

  • NICE!!!!!!

  • Tom is the SHIT.

  • @pacoloco729 I agree. One of the most overrated performers of all time....in my opinion

  • @3234718 agreed squared

  • @pacoloco729 - You are the sack of shit ! - Wh y-she is an awesomely talented singer- because she isn't some " street slut " with botoxed lips and her coochie in your face accompanying her auto- tuned voice like the talentless be - hotches of the day = you sand- bag her- get lost - you tasteless loser !

  • P.S. If I tried move like that (awesome dancers in background) someone would have to, most assuredly, call an ambulance.

  • Janis brought out the best in the folks she performed with. In this video, she sure pulled it outta Tom. He was glad and blessed she was on his show.

  • man i like this alot. all that movement is funky.

  • This is POWER. And BTW it is my firm opinion that Robert Plant was hugely inspired by Janis both in singing and stage presence.

  • Prime example: ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’ (on the third Led Zeppelin album).

  • @cranie4 Prime example: ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’ (on the third Led Zeppelin album).

  • @cranie4 Well said, and anyone who doesn't realize Plant, and Led Zeppelin for that matter, owe it all to her breakthrough Bluesrock, is clueless. In fact, she still mops the floor with most male Rock vocalists. Steve Marriot being one of the very few exceptions,. and one of the first white boys to cover Willie Dixon's, "You Need Lovin".

  • I remember watching this and thought their voices perfectly complimented each other. Not many people could stand up to the full power of either voice. I wish they would have done more together.

  • ENTERTAINMENT AT IT'S BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think better thank GOD who gave them the voice and them for the use owsome ......

  • @pacoloco729 you soooo sad!!

  • It had to be the drugs!

  • I love watching the dancers, takes me back to my White Great, Great grandmothers day, when they used to dance for her...........as I recall they where made to stand on a very hot metal plate on the ground.

  • Great clip except the background dancers are distracting with the frog in a blender type movements lol

  • @cptrace This was filmed at a charity event at the cerebral palsy foundation.

  • This is wen white America was discoverin the blues, Janis was the perfect person, like Psychlion said doesn't get much groovier than this. It's a shame she never sung with more singers of her time it was good seein her with tom jones.

  • This is epic : )

  • Talk about powerhouse performances and both of them give 1000% on this, and noticed they were just jammin, imagine if they were serious. WHOA!

  • ÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁ WOW WOW WOW, YE!!!!!

  • I feel like dancing right now

  • DAMN!

  • SUCH GENIUS! & SOME SERIOUS GROOVE MOVES! + YA KNOW THEY DID IT LATER.

  • Holy crap! That was AMAZING!!!!

  • <3<3<3

  • Mighty performance by two great voices. If only we had those kind of voices now.....the kind that can sing without digital knowhow. I am a daughter of the 60`s and my daughters refer to these people as "singers", real singers. Ty for the clip x

  • @creaturebotman Yes, they don't make music like that anymore.

  • This is hot, great energy and soul from two of the best. The band are absolutely cooking, Gotta love those tight pants. Whoever said Janis was an ugly duckling doesn't appreciate a real woman

  • Dream Team!

  • damn. tom jones, got some power in his lungs. janis is a legend, some try and compare amy winehouse, but really, winehouse is far behind the joplin.

  • @babystinky

why do you have to talk about amy winehouse? :S

    stop it!!! jajajajajaj

enjoy the music... no matter who is ''better'' than the other...

  • Such distinct voices in perfect unison.

  • Looked like they were havin so much fun singing together.

  • Janis stands up to tom very well!!he almost ...ALMOST looks a little intimidated at first then he relaxes and gets into it!!!

  • Without being crass,I bet he roggered her!;). Gd times..

  • @FlashmoreGash

And what is nor crass about that? seriously, all the losers on youtube that go around saying "i would have given it to her" or stuff like that are truly pathetic little turds that have probably never "given" anyone anything except the shits. crawl back into your hole.

  • @NicksandSlick Get a grip u sad little troll!...She wasnt a godess, she was one amazing female vocalist, infact in my opinion probably the best....Yet for some odd reason u cant except that they were in the 60s where sex drugs n rock roll existed..lmao...Dya think she went to bed reading "how to be a good wife" whilst sipping on coco!...lol...U sad utter twat you!....Great singers and id have boned her all night and shed have loved it...maybe she would have wrote a song about it...who knows..

  • awesome.

  • Actually, looking at this closer it looks like he's looking up at something every so often...watch his eyes. They might be lyrics, so I doubt they rehearsed this at all which makes it even better. He adds some of his own words to the official lyrics and all that back and forth in the end is impromptu between them. And check out those dancers behind them! There's just energy all around.

  • This is a great performance & Tom is right there with Janis. Contrary to some comments, Tom had already become a star w/ his huge hit "It's Not Unusual" so he wasn't intimidated by Janis. They probably barely rehearsed too. He was known for his strong vocals & moved & grooved away, became a sex symbol, and steered to more commercial hits. His cover of "Chills & Fever" written by Ronnie Love didn't chart in 1964 but he's into it. Watch here: watch?v=DmA-mczzN3Q&feature=related

    Janis is great.

  • watch?v=HMVbobwjY1Y

    watch?v=ytTI6D9hIMA

    watch?v=fQcK1LxjF00

  • Tom Jones doesn't hold a candle to Janis Joplin. I'm surprised she would even relent to being on the same stage with him. Tom Jones was a commercialised singer. Janis was a soul singer. Tom Jones can't even spell soul, much less know what it means. enuf said.

  • @roadfossil Its funny that Janis tought Sir Tom was the best male voice around 60s-early 70s... And called him "The Voice".. And if you havent heard quotes from Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding im suprised, Otis said "He was the only white male soul singer who really had soul".. Wilson "Greatest white soul singer" .. Both of those were great soul legends.. Listen some soul classics by Tom, or other buried songs... And for me Janis was always more blues and rock singer.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Janis sing "fuckin' " at :34?

  • I think Tom had a hard time keeping up with Janice....lol...He seemed a little intimidated........Janice did have one hell of a powerful voice thats for damn sure!! Its a damn shame that she loved the drugs more then her self..........

  • @freedomseaker1 I don't agree. I think Tom was right there with her. He was no slouch whatsoever in the performance department.

  • Beyond groovy

  • rare, i don't remeber this! great stuff!!!!

  • this is great!

  • Who cares if she not amazing to look at, she's incredible!!

  • There was a time when white folks sung with soul like black folks, this is a prime example.....

Now Nobody sings with soul anymore.

  • @creaturebotman Now black folks" try to sing like eminem. It's like living in musical hell. . .

  • @creaturebotman Joon Wolfsberg does, she is only 19...but finding her true voice:)

  • @creaturebotman - Word !

  • janis sings so much better than Tom.

  • i love these two. they sing with passion and soul. 1st time i heard tom jones voice i thought he was a black guy

  • Tom Jones could rock & roll more than most of his records would have you believe!

  • probably she´s been the only one who could throw him against a wall with her voice. and, yeah, he looked scared, ´cause of the power she had in her voice. two amzing entertainers!!!

  • Janis......

  • Wow... Great fun! They both can dance and they both can sing....Wow! Guys and Gurrls , jus t take it for what it is...Great fun music. LOVED IT.

  • awsome

  • Poor janis, a waste of a great talent.

  • There's six bottles of Southern Comfort floating around inside Janis right there...

  • @Yodasboychild Actually it was cough syrup disguised as Southern Comfort most of the time.

  • Janis rocks! and Tom is really hot!

  • awkward dancing btw

  • Janis was a great singer, but man, she even looked smelly.

  • Que energia que tien los hijos de pooh (dicho con el mejor de los sentidos : ) )

  • now thats a party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tom did an awesome job adjusting his style to Janis.

  • @dean2663 she turned him on and showed him it was possible and in fact great to let it all hang out, which he slowly does as he drops his stiff, no-rhythm careful dancing!

  • Great - nicked - thank you lovely x

  • The entire place is jumping and then all of sudden you notice some people sitting quietly at a couple of tables. Weird.

  • thia is what music all about, hope lady gaga can learn something outta this!

  • These two bring out the best in one another! They are oblivious to the audience! Another song and the place would catch fire!

  • what a fuckin mess.

  • I hope Janice got some of that.

  • @wontgoaway I hope Tom got some of that

  • More "whoop ass" in one place than you could ever imagine.

  • 30 people didn't raise their hand

  • ...döbbenetes

  • who are the 30 dislikes on here? i mean come on!

  • @pablosonfire based on who the owners of the negative comments are, American men in their 50s and 60s...Janis may frighten them a little

  • CARAJO!!! QUE MANERA DE CANTAR, QUE FUERZA, NUNCA HABIA VISTO EN VIVO A JOPLIN, YA FALLECIO O NO?,

  • great performers

  • Tom Jones is an ACE , he managed a difficult position with a powerful singer, and kept dancing. Janis is good of course and she gave Tom a ride.

  • Two Superb beeings

  • looks like tom is staying at a distance

  • wish the audio quality was better, great time capsule.

  • I wisg Janis would have weathered the years like Tom

Would be awesome to hear them together today.

  • look at all this music and dancing, that's proper celebration of life!! so great footage to share with us! Greatly appreciated!!

  • nones como dijo tom jones

  • Tom has sung with all the greats, makes me proud to be welsh!

  • When I met Janis I was wearing a button that said "Kiss Me I'm Italian" so I took it off and handed it to her, She then said "You're Italian" I said yes and she said "I Liike Italians" her guitar player was behind her and said "ahhh You Like Everybody" she laughed and kissed me on the forehead, near my eye and on my cheek. It was a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life

  • @SEVFEST i bet yer never forget that,.....lucky person im italian meself wish ide of been around then

  • It was 1969 @ the Atlantic City Pop Fest I went AWOL from Fort Dix and didn't give a damn because I was set to ship out to Viet Nam soon after.. The Festival was Three days and was a week before Woodstock. It was a very different world back then and when I got to the Festival I walked backstage and no one stopped me.. Lucky Me got to meet Janis, Grace Slick, Frank Zappa, Tracy Nelson, & The Winter Brothers.......

  • I actually shook her hand when I was about 16. She had just played and I happened to be there as she walked by. Way sweet, not scary at all.

  • Hell, I'D be scared anywhere NEAR Janice! Loved her music though - ha.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • brilliant energy

    love jessica caley

  • Did he ever bed her?:

  • @DrWGONZALEZ did she ever bed him is the question :)

  • @susaninmaine i bet she did, don't you think?

  • @DrWGONZALEZ I'm not sure. Bill Graham said of Janis "I don't think men found her that attractive. I think men found her an awesome female. Not necessarily sexually but sensually. She aroused something in men. She aroused desire, but was not the object of that desire." She slept with lots of people, but I'm going to vote No re: her and Tom Jones. Janis said her best performances were like an orgasm on stage. I'm going to guess she knew they probably couldn't top what went on in this song.

  • @susaninmaine Tom Jones was hooked up with Mary Wilson at that time.

  • I love this video. Janis Joplin Is awesome. Tom Jones is incredible. These two made beautiful art.

  • gawd Tom Jones is a sex machine

  • wooh!! that was crazy! awesome voices, Janice has an amazingly unique voice like no other and crazy, crazy moves!!!

  • Saw Janis many times as I graduated from High School in '69 and lived in the bay area. Wowee. This rocks so hard.

  • Just fantastic!!! Thank you for post it, I just love this song and this is the version that I like more untill now.... And Janis is so much fun compares with Tom Jones!

  • Planets crashes...

  • Janis FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This video totally rocks! I don't think I've ever seen Janice look happier than she is here singing with Tom Jones. I wish these two had cut an album together. The energy these two exceptional artists create is mindblowing!

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this video! Puts a smile on my face every time. I love the way Janis dances, and Mr. Tom has got some smooth moves too! This is back in the day when real musicians played music with real musical instruments. My favorite moment happens at 1:31 when Janis does that spin and belts out, "Allllll right!" Sexy.

  • What a fun video! Imagine those two as the "new couple" at a PTA meeting somewhere..

  • WOW, WOW, WOW - two of the greatest voices ever!! we miss you Janis!! TJ can really wail!

  • A Blue's Master Class taught by Janis ...the student is Tom Jones ....getting schooled the whole way thru the song !! You GO Girl ...Amazing !!

  • Im so glad 4 youtube wow!

  • Old People ROCK!!

  • Sex on stage!!!!!!!

  • i saw an interview with tom jones where he speaks about this performance and he felt he was yelling the whole time, but janis commented to him on what a great singer he was and in the interview he said that what he thought was screaming that she thought was great singing lol. and in my opinion shes right :O) because sometimes you just gotta wale, belt it,take it from the pit of your stomach and let it out as if someone just knocked the wind out of you.

  • HOLY SSSHIT!

  • Cornelius Bumpus on Saxophone !!!!!

  • This rocks They are really getting down in this video Awesome Stuff

  • Tom Jones and Janis Joplin................what a duo ! ! Holy smoke ! It just can't get racier than this ! Wow !

  • Tom was afraid. Very afraid. She's rather scary, in a crumpled, unkempt sort-of way.

  • 1:37 lol at that dancer.

He groving the fuck outa this song haha!

  • 28 people enjoy Justin Bieber. lol

Dude, what madness this video, you can feel the vibrations.

Perfect combination ... Janis and Tom rocked this song. \m/

  • And in the category of ...SHOULD HAVE HAD A LOVE CHILD...the award goes to...these two sexy powerhouses of talent! What's with the woman just sitting there like a bump on a log @ 2:54?

  • Watch closely, Tom almost looks scared! Janice musta threw the classic "Hootchie Kootchie Wham Bam Who's Yo Mamma Now" move on him

  • @WealthLetter .....LMFAO!! Yep, gotta luv the old "Hootchie Kootchie Wham Bam Who's Yo Mamma Now" move!
