I have been working on this my whole life and you are in fact wrong. But that being said Slumach is not your most important player in the lost mine game.. Lets not forget Jackson,Shotwell,Volcanic Brown,Stuart Brown they did have gold and after having found some gold in the local mountains myself I can tell you that there is gold there. Do some more research put 6 more months research into the rest of the lost mine players and see what you come up with.

The reason Slumach never had gold was that he was hung in 1891, there was no mention of gold anywhere in the courthouse records or newspapers of the time and when he was hung the paper said he did it without a murmur. As well the story of an "Indian" coming into town with gold didn't appear in a newspaper till 1905, It was another native man
20 years ago myself and 2 friends went out in search of gold in this area, we hiked up a creek for about 3 hours and did find a very small amount of gold, but the terrain is VERY rough and almost cost my friends life, and when we eventually made it back to our car we found a note written on a smoke pack left under our windshield wiper that said "NEVER COME HERE AGAIN", chances are more likely that we almost stumbled across a marijuana plantation rather than Slumach's gold!!
When you find the gold thats when the fun really begins, If you do find it you will never remove all it at once. There is more than enough to around. Also lots of the gold is hardrock and not placer making getting it out a challange.
what it doesnt say is when slumach was hung he supposedly cursed any person who went in search of it i think he said something like " if i die my gold dies with me " i think something like that in a different language so yeah ... and also 11-36 ( idunno if thats right )
Even if he cursed anyone who searched for the gold, so what? Only silly superstitious people would care about that. Slumach was a murderer, and was hung for killing that guy. So Slumach was really cursed. The gold is just that, gold. If anyone can find it, they don't be cursed. Just lucky.
This Indian probably thought he'd get justice from the Gov't agents when he turned himself in as well as saving his people from unlawful racial whites that were on there land. Ya know things haven' t changed in all these years. Promises broke and a taste to lie kill and deceive is what man is best at.
Daryl, how come that you weren't able to find it by now? How many years did you spend (summers) looking for it? You restricted your search to a canyon - well, now what? Do you have anything to substantiate your claim - nuggets or hard rock samples (gold and quartz)?

Great video on Canada's most famous lost gold mine. I think you should really get a search party together next September and invite us Youtube explorers to go with you to one of your suspected locations. Even the hike through the bushes would be a blast.
i live about 5 minutes from the pitt lake gold mine... well the location of it... i do know it exsists... but hiking is not an option... the terrian in unhikable

Slumach never had any gold. I've been working on a university research paper on this for the last 6 months and slumach was just an old trapper.
