Pololei Nō! In 2006, the "Tseu" competing was Tatiana Kawehiokalani Miu Lan Tseu, who is her older sister. Both are great supporters of each other and very close might I add, despite dancing for different hālau.
I don't care who won. They're both beautiful ladies and dancers. They're both winners. And who cares if she's not full Hawaiian. There's not many of us left. This not just a competition but a display of our Hawaiian culture.
She dances with the attire or style of that period. Read some books and look at the type of clothing that 'Ali'i Wahine wore. you will find that her dress is very similar. To dress of the period of the song is what is suppose to happen.
i'm not a hula expert but watching both the winner and this girl, i'd say the winner deserves it (althought this girl is pretty) cause the other one had a certain effect on me when i watched her. also the 2006 winner was very good and better than this one
ok shes pretty thats a givin....i've been dancing hawaiian hula since i was 7.....and now at age 20 hula comes to you in a different way.....as u get older your dancing and movements tend to become more mature in a way......n this is what i'm pretty sure all hawaiian hula dancers look for when their dancing in front of a crowd.......not just how she started once she stepped on that floor...but what she left in the peoples eyes once she finished.....thats the winning ticket....
What her ethnicity? Is she like hapa? Mix perhaps? From what I read she has Hawaiian mother and she won Miss Hawaii Filipina, so is she like half-Hawaiian half-Filipino? I have never really heard or read about Filipino last name Tseu

I am not a specialist, but at first sight, it seems to to me that her gestures are less fluid, little jerked. Especially concerning the body. I'm sure its because of her dress (a bad choice concerning the fabric too much rigid, not flexible enough).
the video does not do her any justice; if you saw her in person you would know that it was not jerked and her material for the dress was gorgeous, not at all heavy. :) but thank you for posting this, you rock.
She should have won the title this year. She was graceful, beautiful, confident, she had it all...her presentation was fantastic. Great combination...great dancing and wonderful music. HANA HOU!!!

She looks so much better on stage than on the road, so much better in Kahiko than in Auana.
Anyway - since the halau usually wins both competitions a Kamuela principal will not win the Miss Aloha Hula.

In 2006 it was Tatiana Tseu with Ka Leo 'O Laka I Ka Hikina O Ka La, however they both did awesome jobs representing their Halau.
