Even at those high resolutions, it looks pixilated. I'm not even sure how or where to get higher res maps than the 'blue marble project.' Also, your Earth has the same problem as mine in 3DSMAX, no atmospheric-light simulation, IE the effect that makes dawn and dusk red. I haven't a clue how to simulate that effect in a 3D program without custom built shaders.
