  • I remember seeing this in school, in the 1970s, on a film projector. More than once, actually. It seemed longer then, oddly. What a classic!

  • When I was in 4th grade we watched this on a projector. It was really fun when our teacher ran the film backwards. The projector could even play the music backwards. Ahhh those were the days. BTW trying listening to this with a headset. With all the left and right panning it is really weird. Why Disney ever got away from these classics is beyond me.

  • @kjemradio "Nyuf nyez nyif nveh, freddy is the devil! Nyuf nyez nyif nveh, freddy is the devil!" Did ya get that reference? HINT: It was a Touchstone release from the 80s starring Robin Williams.

  • Hey, it's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at 1:58 !

  • Une merveille !

  • stiiiiimulating xddd oh Disney

  • Hooray, stereotypes!

  • love the way this is animated. who were the two people who clicked dislike on this???

  • is the original stereo sound this bad? or is it from the uploading of the video?

  • @chyrd just the old school stereo.. its come a long way huh?

  • @tchiriga263 Considering that Walt Disney invented stereo sound, yeah.

  • Always flip a coin to the kitty, kids !!! ; )

  • Its interesting how the drum section of the video seems the most racist out of all of them.

  • At 10:10, what is that flash of black in the upper right?

  • @stevenscottoddballz It's called a "cigarette burn" and is used to let the projectionist know that the end of the reel is coming up.

  • @konnely

    OH! Thank you VERY much!

  • "The trombones toot."! I love it!

  • 10:10: - The End

  • 10:10

  • Boo-rah-gah-HUNH!

    Boo-rah-gah-HUNH!

  • I love this style of animation because it broke the mold in the 1950s and it comes off as free and almost asymmetrical. This very positive artistry holds up to the value of less is more, which I think can have a longer lasting impact.

  • How have you been able to load this clip without Disney's legal group asking for you to cease. I thought they were very strict about the uploading of their material. I would like to reference your YouTube channel to our students but want to make sure it's legal

  • Disney doesn't give a shit about things other than their crappy disney channel today.

  • You can reference it without worrying about getting into trouble. The only risk you make is that the video might at some point be removed. You're only pointing to the site.

  • I LOVE this style of Disney animtation!

  • The Owl is such a great character!!

  • mr owl did disney sing along songs

  • I know. That's why I grew up with him.

  • oh i remember disney sing along songs i used to have all of them

  • Me too.

  • I used to love those!!! They don't make them like that anymore!

  • 7:06-7:52 are my favorite part because every time somebody plays a stringed instrument whether plucking it or playing it with a bow, the strings break.

  • needs to be YTP'd.... NOW!!!

  • Walk like an Egyptian!

  • Extra DTV music video it was in.

    Louis Armstrong - High Society

  • In my opinion, this cartoon, and Melody are better than the Disney Sing Along Songs videos!

  • How do you say the kind of thing that goes boom at 8:11?

  • Bells.

  • I thought Professor Owl said barrels at that point.

  • Further more, the written words match the way those sounds are expressed in the Japanese language:

    Toot: "Puu" Whistle: "Byuu"

    Plunk: "Sutaa" Boom: "Don"

Anyone who reads raw Japanese comics will recognize that last one. Why did they go to all the trouble make this accurate when one presumes it would have been easier to make something up? Like I said, very interesting.

  • This is very interesting: from 9:08 9:12, if you can ignore the slightly non-PC caricatures, the written sound effects are in actual Japanese, not oriental-looking gibberish like in many cartoons of that day. ...

  • Professor Owl: Sweet dreams, Professor Von Drake. Now listen to this.

    Band playing

Professor Owl: Did you ever stop to think when the band plays rink a tink where all the music comes from? From a toot and a whistle and a plunk and a boom.

Students (singing): That's where the music comes from.

  • It also covered the entire screen in the Disney Sing Along Songs series.

  • I've seen clips of this cartoon in a few DTV videos when it covered the entire screen. Like Beach Boys - DANCE DANCE DANCE, Martha and the Vandellas - DANCING IN THE STREET and Gladys and the Pips - I Heard It Through the Grapevine.
