I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there was nothing like TPIR in the 80s, it ran like a well-oiled machine. Then came the scandals of the 90's and moronic contestant-filled shows of the 2000's.

Why is the majority of the audience on tpir today younger? Most of the audience here in 1986 was older. Is there a reason for that? Has the demographics of the show shifted to appeal to a younger, gen y audience especially with drew in charge now? (gen y are the ones born in the 1980's and up).
Whoa. After everything poor Shirley went through to get to the show, I was hoping that she'd win at least an IUFB and she ends up winning $10,800 in prizes!
Poor Graham. Obviously, a loyal friend and true and he lost his pricing game and showcase.
Congratulations to Joseph! Winning $61,289 on a makes for a GREAT 50th wedding anniversary! A dinette, New Zealand vacation, Rio vacation, some dresses, a spa, piano, and Lincoln Town Car are certainly some great anniversary presents.
Shirley's $10,000 win in Grand Game and Anne following her in Punch-a-Bunch really amazed me. At 22:46 the win in Grand; at 39:00 is the ten thou in Punchboard. YESSS!
@erikdraven1731 And this happened on the show's 30th season premiere back in 2002 with Plinko in the first half, Grand Game in the second...a quickie game, to boot.
I don't think there was any confliction. Kennedy's TPIR was syndicated, and could be on at any time of the day in any station in different cities, whilst the nighttime specials were on at a certain time on CBS.
I wonder if these six TPIR specials in 1986 conflicted with Tom Kennedy's nighttime TPIR. Kennedy's version ended on September 5, 1986. These 1986 specials ended on September 18th, 1986 so there may have been a conflict.
I'm from Wisconsin, just like Shirley is, or was.

@stephenhkovacs That was the first time I'd ever seen two cash games in one show. Come to think of it, I dunno if I've seen one since.

"Now Keith, what do you think is the *fourth* number in the price of the car??" lmao
cnlaw 6 months ago
In lucky seven they should have given him the first number like they do today.
cnlaw 6 months ago
@cnlaw Giving the last number made it almost too easy since the first number, even today, is really easy to figure out.
