I like how the modern tetris games don't automatically "stick" as soon as they land, which allows for much more interesting game play, something the older tetris games didnt.

yeah i really like that about newer games. i like old style tetris too, but it's hard to survive in the higher levels if you can't tap left and right really fast.

thank you. i first played tetris about 20 years ago, then didn't play for a long time, and started again when tetris DS came out. playing that game a helped for learning when to use hold.

for scoring high in challenge mode, you probably want to play fast but not too fast (making sure not to misdrop) and try to make back-to-back tetrises and T-spins the whole time. Thylacine does ST stacking and that's a great way to score high. good luck and keep practicing :)

tetris friends battle is kind of weird...you can't really play a live game against somebody. you can only play against a replay.

tetrisonline(jp) is a great game but i can't play it on ubuntu. there's also blockbox, which you can read about at the tetrisconcept forum. if you want to play you'll need to send a pm to deniax.

What is the piece on the top left of the game? i cant figure out what that is for.

and are you looking at all the pieces that are about to come, or just the first one instead of all three?

1. you can buy it for $9.95 at zone.tetris(dotcom).

2. yes, it runs on mac.

3. the piece at the top left is in the hold box. when you hit the hold button the active piece is swapped with the piece in the hold box, and the piece that was in hold becomes active.

4. this is the toughest to answer. yes and no really. you always need to know the first piece coming, but some people watch all 3.

4.(cont.) i watch all 3 intently when i need a certain piece to fill a hole that only 1 or 2 types of pieces can fit in. i imagine a lot of people (including myself) watch all the previews all the time passively without realizing it, and probably would play slower and make more mistakes if they only had 1 preview.

when i first got the game i couldn't finish master mode either. then when i finally did, i was getting scores around 400k and slowly got better and better.

i saw you hit 860k in marathon and beat one of my facebook friends lol. nice game, you're getting up there.

Well after playing quite a lot of master mode since I got this game I know appreciate how difficult this is to do. Amazing skills jujube! Right now I can't get past level 15 on master. I think I'm doing pretty good with the transistion to the keyboard. Again congrats jujube.

thanks man. it took a lot of practice and some luck too. it's hard not to make any misdrops in the later levels when the lock delay gets short. i made a mistake in level 18 but was fortunate enough to get the pieces i needed to fix it before it became a big problem, then was able to keep the stack clean after that.

Hey any idea how long it takes to upload your score? I got 752,809 on marathon, but nothing is showing on the leaderboards yet....

i see you on there now. that's a pretty good score. sometimes it just takes a while to show up on the board, but if you get a personal best score in one of the modes you should be able to watch the replay from the main menu, so then you know the score was uploaded.

first you have to make a T-spin slot, then rotate the T into it. of course it helps to learn both rotation keys because sometimes you have to rotate left and sometimes right.

i have no idea. but if you know someone who's getting the game ask them to do intentionally bad in one of the modes, then see what their rank is.

That wont work, If your score is really low, then it just shows up as 500+ on the personal stats section. so at least we know there are more than 500 players. its a start.
