@TenWhoWereTaken I have never seen anyone drop i on themselves. But I have seen spotters when people do this but not everyone has one. I see spotters go underneath there arm and put there hand pretty much on there triceps and kind of help the weights up.
@DLH8DeMoN no dude... u can only make that sound when u huge like this guy... imagine if u just some skinny guy making that noise.. it will looks silly ahah
@34birddog Same problem here bro, but check this out. To gain weight, multiply your body weight X 20 and you have to consume this amount of calories per day. I drink a gallon of milk a day, a glass for pre-workout, and POST- workout it is VERY important to carbo load and get protein. Eat your ass off, fuck the expensive shakes. Hope this helps!
Its sooooooooooooo hard not invole your shoulders during pressing movement excercises like the bench, incline, presses. Its the form that has to be spot on to avoid any future damage. But all in your shoulders will always be involved and fatique quicker then your Chest will. Good Vid brother,, keep up the great work !
Great video. I did this exercise and the bench press incorrectly for years in my 20's, and I'm paying for it now with crunchy shoulders. I try to politely correct younger guys at my gym when I see them involving their shoulders too much.
Thank you so much for this video. Today when I was doing this press my shoulders felt like they were "popping" and I couldnt figure out why. Now I understand it was because I had my elbows to far back and was putting the pressure on my rotator cuffs.
if you dont have a bench like this, and just using chairs at home? Like laying down on the chairs and do the same thing? Is there really a differents between using chairs and laying flat on the chairs during this workout or using this bench?
By keeping a natural arch (or even exaggerated) in your lower back, it reduces the chance of injury.
Keeping your shoulder blades tucked also reduces the chance of injury and puts much less stress on the shoulder joint itself. It's also helpful when working the chest because when your shoulder are down and back it allows more stretch or ROM (range of motion) in the pectorals AND takes the stress off the anterior deltoids (front shoulder) so focus is almost purely on the pecs.
Then you did it wrong. The most important tip when doing any type of chest press is to tuck your shoulder blades together and puff your chest out (keeping your shoulder girdle locked back in place)- an extreme example is how powerlifters bench press.
Try it. You want to imagine as if you're trying to pinch/hold a pencil between the blades in your mid/upper back. I think Scott might have mentioned it in one of his videos...or look up some other instructional vids.
You need to keep your shoulder blades firmly on the bench at all times (w/ pinched/retracted shoulder blades/scapula). Arch your back so that only your ass, shoulder blades, and head are on the bench. Do not push your shoulders up at the top of the rep.
Scott! Theres new research that shows that incline press only increases upper chest by 5% but 85% shoulders!!! The better upper chest workout is reverse gripped flat bench it increases by 30%!!!
this is great advice. i have a similar build to this guy but less mass. im wondering i bench and do tons of chest workouts, but i cant gain any more mass in my chest. i think its because my bench has hit a plateau if anyone knows advice on breaking the plateau let me know! ive been doing negatives, but its a lot of stress on my shoulders
@MIXMASTAPWN i recently got past a bad plateu by doing the following, one day i would down incline bench, then next time i went i switched to flat, and the time after that i go to decline, ive been doin this for 2 months and i already gained another 20 pounds, so maybe give it a go
@ryuzakijeff They should even out as you continue to work out your chest. do barbell bench presses because you are using your whole chest as one unit to push as apposed to each pec separately with dumbells. should even out beter that way
Scott, when i perform this workout only my arms 'feel the burn' and not my chest muscles. My chest does look differnt then it did a month ago but i was just wondering if its fine if i dont feel it in my chest?
so if it's too high it'll hit your shoulders, thanks.., do you have any vids of using a barbell, coz doin an incline bench press is really hard for me...
after a while your stabilizer muscles will build so you can hold it steadily, give it some time. I have been working out over a year now and I can remember straining to lift 45lbs, very embarrassing then, even remember bench pressing 50lbs :(.
