You bring up a good point. There were wars in the bible in which killing was justified. I don't understand when it is a sin, and when it isn't. The commandment does say "Thou shall not kill." Are there exceptions to this (i.e. soldiers in Iraq)?

There is no exception Paul specifically told soldiers not to kill anymore and if we take his example he did not kill after he was saved. Its pretty straightforward you cant have a bloody sword in one hand and preach peace in Christ with the other.Read 1 Peter 2:21-25 to see what Christ wants us to do under violent times and circumstances.Hebrews 12:14 "Pursue peace with all people and holiness without which no one will see the Lord"

First off I want to congratulate you on getting at least one thing right, being a Christian is being Christ-like. Which includes not judging others because the word says that we ALL have fallen short of the Glory of God. You talk about misquoting the bible, lead by example. Ex. 20:13 and Deut. 5:17 says "Thou shall not MURDER". There is a difference between killing and murdering. And if you're going to exhort, do it when God wants you to and exhort with the love of God.
