Having grown up in Bethel, I actually did laugh out loud in the theater when I heard that. I wish they made it look a little more like the real Bethel.
I caught onto that to... good thing I wasn't in the theater watching this moving, though I think any time they showed this at the Playhouse in Randolph (9 miles up the road) I think there was probably a good chuckle at this point in the film. No mountains, no rivers, no Vermont.
Yeah I know... thats what I was getting at... I work in Bethel, and live in Randolph, which is about 6 minutes up the road from Bethel.
Bethel would be a good town to use, becuase its basicly a mill town built on the side of a hill so it would be a lot easier to defend then the town that they depicted.
haha i live in barnard...the next town over from bethel, and i found it very surprising that bethel was the location of the safe colony. i didnt really think the movie looked as if it was filmed in vermont though. oh well...still funny.
Whats funny i went to williston vermont with buddies to see this movie and they picked on me about that. But i had to tell them thats not bethel. Makes me kinda wonder though where this was filmed. Some agree with me it looks like Route 7 Which goes from Rutland to South Burlington. more so around New Haven area where its really small town and nothing but farm land for as far as the eye can see. But knowing hollywood it could be anywhere from that to some town in North Dakota or something.
I live in Bethel too and this is pretty funny. The fact that they say the virus can't survive the cold is ironic because right now it is 24 degrees outside. I can't wait to see the whole movie and find out what kind of freaks are supposed to be living in the dinky town of Bethel.
I said "welcome to Milton" out loud in the theater, right when they opened the big gates, got a pretty good laugh throughout on that one

Vermont is cool. It's too bad hollywood butchered the novel I Am Legend for this horrible movie. Even Will Smith couldn't save it. :(
