  • :52 how to totally ruin the atmosphere.

  • Monkey's so treal at 0:18

  • Every child actor in this program is now dead.

    Just sayin'

  • @TheDarkChildHupu Only true if you are referring to the children in this exact clip. A good number of the Our Gang alumni are actually still alive. They were just kids in the 1930s. They are my grandfather's age and I'm only 27. Porky only died very recently.

  • I see racism in it

  • I gave the 15th thumbs down because of what judgmental self righteous chimparoo said about the first 14.

  • to all the people that leave comments about the crapy stuff our gang had on, america in the 1930s . was in a depression back then lame asses

  • my nepew spoke like buckwheat and hes half mex. and white and i still call him buckwheat, i cant understand him at times. they shure had crazy names on that show, who would name there kid porky, alfalfa, buckwheat, weazr, chubby, spanky?

  • 14 MORONS gave thumbs down. Need I say more ?

  • 14 MORONS gave thumbe down )-:<

  • All of these "Our Gang" movies have a timeless quality. Some of the actors met with tragic ends but you'll be happy to know that Buckwheat had a healthy, productive life as a sound technician in Hollywood.

  • Buckwheat Toupee - Guy Black & The Beautiful Choir

    copy and paste this

    funny

  • The little monkey is hillarrriousss

  • THE BEST EVER !

  • LOVE IT! Ahhhhhhhhhhh this was my fave show!

  • Get the fuck off racist swine patty trash!

  • Comment removed

  • @faniagriselda I understand your point but the interesting thing about these is that most of the kids didn't speak well. I mean now, we have "redneck" humor and we can't forget that YEARS before these kids came out, male actors played the female parts and always wore ladies clothes and people found them funny... so I guess times don't change all that much eh?

  • Didn't Alf Alfa get executed by one of Al Capone's henchmen?

  • I like how they just tossed the monkey aside lol. Poor little guy.

  • this is so cute.

  • Why would they allow Will Thomas (Buckwheat) to perform patially dressed? Did they forget to get him in the wardrobe department. Shame on the adults in production. If he were caucasian it wouldnt have happened

  • @Sk8brdr4life I ALSO NOTICE HE LOOKS GRESSY

  • tHIS IS SO RACIST!!

That time of era seems like a weird nightmare.

  • @gulmoh please explain to me in 25 words or less why this is racist?

  • @gulmoh- How?

  • @gulmoh WHat's racist about a black kid in that era being treated as an equal amongst his friends as Buckwheat was in EVERY EPISODE HE APPEARED IN. Try knowing what you're talking about next time. It'll help.

  • Pre MGM Rascals are the best...

  • OMG I just kept on restarting at 0:14 and watched the monkey put the phonograph needle down and look back up smiling as if to say "Look at the wonderful thing I just did, aren't you proud?"

  • @JasperKeller I don't know who is cuter, the monkey or the kids. When I was a kid it was a show about other kids and I loved it. Now it's a show about goofy kids and I still love it.

  • @fjccommish I agree. I wish people would just enjoy these shows for what they are: entertainment. Sure, they reflected the social values of the times, but why pick it apart? You don't see people doing that with Gone With The Wind?

  • thers lil wayne as a kid lol

  • @tylerlane94 hahhahahahahahahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Porky was played by Eugene Gordon Lee, who passed away within the last couple years.

  • I luv it!

  • Buckwheat + Porky = magic

  • The genius of Buckwheat!

  • this is so cute...

  • The white kid with Buckwheat was none other than Robert Blake. Then known as Mickey.

  • @Rockhound6165 no, that is porky.

  • @Rockhound6165 No, this was Porky, forgot the name of the actor, definitely not Robert Blake. Robert Blake did appear later on in the bogus Our Gang MGM episodes late 30s/early 40s.

  • ooootai

  • so cute!

  • ..lol..lol..why was buckwheat so shiny?..or was he just greasy with baby oil?...lol..lol..

  • What was Buckwheats bud's name there? Cool number. Now PETA or the ASPCA would file a lawsuit against Alfalfa for his toss of the monkey.

  • @gonzocurt Porky!!!!!

  • SunOfSongun----- LMFAO!!!!!

  • lol

  • What's funny about these two is Eddie Murphy always got Buckwheat's speech confused with Porky's.

  • see? even back then white people tried to intermingle with blacks.

  • thas funny..my MOM used to dress me just like Buckwheat....an i was 15

  • why is that little boy wearing a towel...smh..this vid.is just very sad, nothin funny about it at all...

  • @jazzyj711 Because that's what the little guy wanted to wear for the show. It's probably the middle of Summer.

  • this is the best vid ever so LOL

  • i didn't know monkeys could smile...kinda cute yet scary at the same time... btw I'm actually talking about the monkey, not sweet little Buckwheat here.

  • A highlight of western civilization. Many thanks!

  • why Buckwheat gotta look all sweaty like he been working in the fields....smh

  • Why doesn't Buckwheat have any clothes on???

  • HAHAHA i remember my dad calling me buckwheat when i was lil...soi youtube it...WOW

  • I like the monkey DJ. But then Alfalfa just chucks him! Too funny! Where's the ASPCA and PETA???

  • haha, ooooooh lordy

  • little chimpling

  • man, these guy suck!!!!

  • LMFAO.

  • what the hell? is buckwheat supposed to be african?

  • WOW really

  • No he's mexican! Dumbass

  • He's 49. i'm not gonna say a thing.

  • Exactly..What, is 49 suppose to be like really old..What a prick..Now if you say 77,78,79,80..Not 49...Well the man is sick..

  • thanks for sharing

    gamgan1

  • very funny. i'm too young to remember them, but i heard about them. umm btw, gamagan1, more cuss words please.

  • assfuck horseshit.... no need to thank me.

  • oh my fuckin goodness i did not know that buckwheat was snagatooth and is that a fuckin girl or boy

    Gamagan1

  • omg. You actually emailed me. So i can only assume you have absolutely nothing to do what but cuss videos and email people that point it out. How old are you/ get a job or a hobbie. WOW!

  • fuck u sick ass, what are u a saint or something dam, i just thought u would know if buck was a boy or girl i never knew. and fyi bitch i have a job and a dam good one. you say i have nothing to do but u found the time to email me back, now who's the dumb fuck, lol

    gamagan1

  • i'm fascinated. y do you feel the need to cuss to make a point. know one listens when you do that. i'm jsut saying. Y IN THE WORLD ARE YOU SO ANGRY. not trying to be mean or confrontational.

  • Every white child should have one!

  • Even though the real Buckwheat died in 1979, there are people out there today claiming to be him. One was a used car salesman in Johnston, SC running Buck W's. He claims that he grew up in St. Matthews and was discovered by a talent agent and whisked off to Hollywood. Funny that he couldn't recall making the shorts. George "Spanky" McFarland called him a liar. He wanted to call him something else, but he wouldn't repeat it.

  • obama and biden during the talent portion of becomming elected

  • Thats a different prospective.

  • My Dad used to have Cousin Gene Autry babysit him as a child. Gene asked him to tryout for this, The Little Rascals. Its probibly good he didnt. There was the curse of The Little Rascals. Just a little neet history for you.

  • I wish someone would post the opening of their feature movie, "General Spanky," where Buckwheat tries calling a little black kitten over to him: "Here, titty, titty, titty.....here, titty....."

  • gostei do pretinho

  • O-tay!

  • The black kids on Our Gang probably got better roles than their adult counterparts. And they weren't given negative stereotypical roles. There were certain moments that could be considered cringe-worthy, like Farina getting all excited when someone mentions watermelon, but overall, these kids were treated with great respect. Porky was also a minority, I think he was half chinese.

  • I remember my mother telling me that she never heard of Our Gang when she was a kid in Tennessee. Because it showed white kids and black kids playing together, going to school together and eating at each others houses, it was legal for those films to be shown in the south.

  • You mean it was illegal for them to be shown in the South??!! Really??!!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh....I thought you acidenly didn't include the i in the legal of your comments since you said your Mom had never heard of Our Gang and supposbly she lived in the South and I can actually see that =/

  • Comment removed

  • Ohhhhh... I misunderstood you. I thought that you were expressing disbelief. But, it seems that you were pointing out a typographical error. Yes. it was ILLEGAL. The Our Gang movies, with Farina (in the 1920s!!!) Stymie and Buckwheat going to school with a bunch of white kids and playing in each other's houses would have caused a murderous rampage. It was illegal, in Tennessee at least, for a white man and a black man to shake hands.

  • love your spelling.

  • Not really. Her mom was FOS as a Christmas Turkey.

    We watched it in Tennessee.

My friends and I loved the "I wish Cotton was a Watermelon" episode.

Alfalfa was a hoot as well.

  • Illegal

  • omg thank god for change

gamagan1. mom missed out on some really funny stuff. was ur mom ok with that and if so how about today, please tell me shes not ok with it

    gamagan1

  • @phillydisco - I agree that overall the black kids got better roles in Our Gang than adult black actors despite the undeniable cringe moments, like constantly decking Buckwheat out in some pseudoAfrican getup whenever the kids put on a show, and even a few gape-at-the-tv-in-disbelief moments, but OVERALL, a very progressive series.

I'm pretty sure Eugene Lee (Porky) was just white, BTW. Of course he was adopted, so maybe even he didn't know for sure.

  • Honestly this is funny, and I think that the pple who point out that he's black are being more racist then anyone else here

  • I didnt realise he was black. thanks for pointing that out.

  • i also noticed your mother sucking him off back stage

  • A time where humor was the ability to make people laugh. Today humor is about showing a porno and making fun of it. Humor is dead to me. :(

  • @TheDirectorofFoo WELL SUKS 4 U

  • @TheDirectorofFoo Some pornos can be very funny.

  • @TheDirectorofFoo oh please back then they thought hanging a person by a tree was humor

  • @TheDirectorofFoo- Humour is subjective. Nothing is truley funny. Except retarded people they're hilarious.

  • @TheDirectorofFoo Humor makes me laugh!

  • That made me laugh. A lot.

  • @SunOfSongun lmfaoo

  • @SunOfSongun PURE WHITE IGNORAMUS, HUH?

YEAH, YOU REPUBLICANS ARE USUALLY AS IGNORANT AS IT GETS...

  • @djfakt lol, Just because he said something about Obama doesn't make him an ignorant republican. It was a JOKE - You know, something to make people laugh.

It's not like he was putting him down or anything. Take that stick out of butt. <3

  • the 1930's sound system was good. and i saw how he threw the monkey.

  • one thing.... why does buckwheat look so greasey..... they put some royal crown grease on the boy or what

  • so cute... at a time when race was so important . children proved that there was no color in freindship

  • in my opinion, it is through children that tensions of any kind in this world has eased up a bit.

  • damn u see how he threw the monkey...i guess animal abuse didnt exsist then lol

  • why is buckwheat naked wtf?

  • the question you should ask yourself is, why does he look like a greased up monkey?

they did that sh** on purpose.

  • mooosic =]

  • Obama and Biden

  • i lol'd

  • moosic

  • watch?v=nHiZ15x6Vt4&feature=related

  • white folks know they can be evil

  • lol I always thought buckwheat was a girl because of the way he put his hair up

  • Before Buckwheat died, he turned Muslim and changed his name to Ka-reem of Wheat.

  • wardop-The teacher asked Buckwheat to use the word "dictate" in a sentence ....

  • OMG!Classic

  • The name of the song Buckwheat and Porky are singing is "Strolling Through the Park One Day." Buckwheat is shirtless because the character he portrays, a palace guard, in the play the Rascals are about to perform doesn't wear one. Spanky and Alfalfa are already in costume, so Buckwheat should be as well, though he gets a cape later in the play. The short is "Aladdin's Lamp," I messed up earlier.

  • otay!

  • Man I wished that show would come back on TV. Best show ever.

  • i've been lookin and searchin for the song buchwheat juz sang..

uh..what's the name of the song??

  • where the fuck is buckwheats clothes

  • LOL

  • haha cute

  • Is their a logical reason why Buckwheat does not have a shirt on, because there should be /:-(

  • why did it get so damn loud at the end. SHIT!

  • Theres Buckwheat

  • in2tv....wow thanks for the racist show

  • can anyone explain to me who buckwheat is? cuz ive heard of the name, but im confused what or who it refers too..=]

  • Buckwheat was a character from Our Gang, or The Little Rascals, a series of short films that started back in the 20's. Originally, the character was a girl but later was pegged as a boy. He was played by Billie Thomas. Buckwheat is oftentimes viewed as a derogatory black stereotype, however Billie defended the character, saying that he was always treated the same as the white children in the series. For a show from that era to have blacks & whites together as equals was truly revolutionary

  • I couldn't said it better. :-)

  • ohh i see. thx! learn somethin new everyday i guess =]

--and why did someone thumb down my last comment?? i was just asking a question geez...

  • I love this show and I love Buckwheat! I watched reruns in the 70's. I grew up watching this show. It makes me sad that people can only see the bad in something that was so wonderful. When I watched I didn't see black or white. I just saw a group of kids. You are so right this was ground breaking television. I think he should be listed as one of the great comedians and child actors of all time.

  • Well said.

  • What the hell, You can easily see it as racist. He has bad grammer and he was always greased up and dirty looking. It was racist to the extreme. You honestly think in the 1920s they would put a african american on television without embarrassing them.

  • Actually, all I was pointing out was that it was a wonderful thing that in that era there was a show where a white child and a black child could be seen playing together, rather than segregated. Obviously it wasn't perfect, but at least it was a step in a good direction, whether the creators intended it to be that way or not.

  • I would have to agree with elestivine. I grew up watching these shows, and didn't notice the racist overtones (and undertones) until much later. Now, I watch with nostalgia, as well as with a scrutinizing eye, and I have to consider the time in which it was made. Even though it is so obviously derogatory, it is still a positive approach to desgegregational play/interaction (for its time).

  • Judge it by it's own standards, not by yours

  • Buckwheat rules!

  • haha they sound like fish cute tho haha

  • Buckwheat was a great performer and more fun than the audience deserved, that's for sure.
