thanks. really dig Masujaa on guitar...underrated and under-represented on guitar. Check out the "Wildflowers: NY Loft JAzz Sessions"--his work is incomparable. like hubert sumlin crossed w/ marc ribot.
Just saw Henry Threadgill @Chicago Jazz Fest over labor day weekend 2010. His compositions are RIDICULOUS!! I watched the entire show in awe of how a person can come up with all those ideas....Truly Amazing!!! And the festival was FREE!!!
@H1QA4RSXDA No. I'm not a composer. I just love good music. Would love to see him again soon. Do you know of a website that lists his tour dates? I can't seem to find one.
"Too Much Sugar for a Dime" is the best, but also "Easily Slip into Another World" , "Song out of my Trees" , "Spirit of 'Nuff 'Nuff" and "Make a Move" -- if you can get your hands on the rarer stuff from early on (Air etc) then more power to ya! I hope it gets re-released.
You Know the Number, with two kit drummers, Bass, Cello, trumpet, cornet, and HT on his winds, is beautiful, my favorite. Ola Dura played cornet on that recording.
the tune Hope A Hope A on the "Spirit of Nuff Nuff" is also amazing...
@Flannagoras Spirt of Nuff Nuff was a revelation to me. I heard them live shortly after it's release.....amazing set [2]. Since that day this is the music that fuels me.
Wow, I was at this gig! One of my all time favorite bands. This was at "Sticky Mikes Frog Bar" which was later called the Time Cafe. Ahhh... what sweet music.
real good stuff

"too much sugar for a dime" is great. for a start some older trio stuff might be good, too, especially air live at montreux 1978
