The guitars on this song are PERFECT, and whoever is trying to argue against that just does not know Sonic Youth. However, you have to admit, Thurston is singing a bit off key in this performance.

guitars by design will never be perfectly in tune (look it up). so shut up. besides, some of the greatest songs of all time have been recorded out of tune. look at anyone from the kinks to the dead kennedys to the germs. the entire concept of musical structure is subjective. if they think they were in tune, they were. you just don't get it.

Alot of the earlier stuff was written in standard tuning. Some songs (100% for instance) can be played in standard and sound just fine (Thurston actually uploaded TAB for that song). But yeah, there are a few songs in standard. And its not "out of tune" as much as alternate tunings.
