Everyone who likes this composition should check out Snakefinger's rendition of it. It's truly wonderful and a bit more electric/eclectic :P This is fabulous too, though.
@DanteFingers YES!!! THAT'S IT!!! I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but you described it perfectly! I wonder what John Williams could have done with this?
@Originaldelsig Haha, I'm not sure. Regan's Theme was probably the best thing (music wise) to come out of this film. The Exorcist should have been a one off in my opinion. Although I am looking forward to the new one coming out soon.
@DanteFingers They couldn't win with this movie, even with Richard Burton, James Earl Jones and all the good intentions. They just wanted to cash in on the first one and it totally tanked. I ended up seeing it on VHS a couple of years after the fact and I think somebody else rented it. Twas a sad, sad, day for Linda Blaire.
@Originaldelsig Redeemed for me by that one atmospheric shot of the procession to the shrine at the beginning of the movie. Otherwise an embarrassment and a waste of talent.
@Lowerthetone1 Poor Linda Blair.... This was the nail in her acting Coffin, after this turkey it was one breast shot in Night Patrol featuring "The unknown comic" and Billy Barty and a couple of bit parts. I hope she invested wisely.
10 years old when i saw this movie at the Drive Inn in Fresno, california,,Sunnyside Drive Inn.. i remember this song at the end ...those where the good old days ...
I actually came to like this movie after a viewing on HBO in 1988 as a double feature of exorcist 1 & 2. If I recall correctly, it must have been a re-edited version created after the initial release as history will tell. I went one step further and edited it further, cutting out a lot of extraneous scenes not needed. It required cutting out a lot of the awful locust in-flight photography.
C'est fabuleux et magnifique en tant que TOUT L'Ennio Morricone. & tellement profond ; Chant religieux pourtant si sensuel avec le soulèvement élevé de sentiment en cela♥♥♥♥♥
A classic song!! It was removed from the ending of the Excorcist II the last time I saw it. However, I have this song on LP. A really good song!!! Thanks!!!
Strangely enough this track is not in the film itself (although the director's cut featured it over the end credits). It was originally only used for the trailer.
When I first saw Part II, I could not stand it. After a few re-watches it really isn't that bad of a film. If anything it was the Africa sub-plot that ruined it for me. Part III is worth a viewing too, one of the scariest films I have ever seen.
Listening to this has made me want to re-watch Exorcist II. The last time I watched it must've been five or six years ago. I thought it was terrible, but maybe watching it now my opinion might change.
@DallyWhitty Trust me. Your opinion won't change about this movie. This is a turkey of epic proportions. It could have been something really special but they really made a mess of it.
this is classic music with an other worldy evil twist, blood curdling and scary, the beautiful image of linda blair gives the music a creepy sinister twist as well.
Back in the 70's I used to jam to the song, when it was on HBO. A classic song, which unfortuantley was deleated from VHS. Anyway, thatnks fo the post! Carry On!
this one was much better than EXORCIST THE BEGINNING imo

Sounds like the theme to BatMan.
rfjmd 3 years ago 2
It could be a good Bat Theme, too...
Too bad Morricone didn't have anything to do with that... He's as good as the guy who did the themes for Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight...
