Why don't you try using some different hacks of the game to do Tails/Sonic Abuse? Maybe try Knuckles Abuse? (Sonic 2 SMTP has options for playing as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sonic & Tails, and a rare Knuckles and Tails! You'd better get it!)
