@dakeyson yes I do and I'm pretty sure I have a good musical taste:I like (love)beatles,david bowie,rolling stones,the police,ac/dc,guns n' roses,phil collins,billy joel,(love)elton john and (love)eric clapton.Also I like james taylor.Now that I proved I have a good musical taste(and therefore know what music is) I repeat: eric's version is BETTER.You just can feel the emotion in eric's version in a way you can't in james'.
Attybong I dont commend u for this clip but the engineer that switches the cameras----where did he get all those pretty women from? Attybong doesn't tell the place of the venue nor the year of the concert but I look much better than JT and deserve the same 'in awe" looks from these super pretty middle - prime - age broads.....I may also reciprocate much better than with just a few gooey songs!

God bless Eric Clapton but he does not own this song.
James Taylor owns this song. And James Taylor proved it once again in this magnificent live version. The master, in rare form. The fact that James Taylor had so many women of all ages swooning over him here speaks for itself; yes indeed, James Taylor was no doubt not lonely after he finished singing that night, for real. Long live James Taylor.
@kja427 Whatever happened with them, thankfully they kept their son Ben out of it, so he wouldn't grow up feeling responsible. I admire the way they ended a marriage but kept the friendship.
Amazing to think this song was written at the height of a chronic heroin addiction. Does it relate to a woman, or to the smack? Both make people lonely if they are not instantly available. I guess only James can answer that one. Nevertheless, what a song whatever the meaning. Mindbending saxophone solo to finish.
Reminds me of all the times I just needed someone to lie to me as well; to hold me tight. But sometimes, just sometimes, it feels as if love is running out through the glass just like the sand in an hour glass -- running out!
Yes, johnrhodes101975, the man can truly sing. He can take a song and weave it into your heart and mind as a memory that will never fade. A story-teller with a lifetime of experiences to work with and the gift to get them to us. I grew up with him and his music and he only gets better with time. Our lives are richer because of his contributions and they instruct us to live to make a loving difference in other's lives in this otherwise befuddled world.
@tobogan4 : Glornick was such a strong personality and part of these sounds we have come to cherish and sing along with when we hear them. All with him in the background moving the song's rhythm and depth smoothly along. RIP, indeed...
beautiful song from one of the PBS specials. Not sure what year this was done but do remember watching this on PBS on year. Love JT and have seen him in concert 4 times over the years.
My favourite singer of all time - there's hardly a day that goes by that I don't listen to James. Thank you for the music - we are eternally gratefll!
I went from Northern Ireland to New Zealand in March of this year and my son bought me a ticket to see JT and Carol King - he was awesome! Best concert I have ever attended! It was the highlight of my holiday. Thank you for the music James!

second cd i ever got, for my 12th birthday was a JT greatest hits album. 18 now, and i still fall asleep to it. This man was blessed by god with one the great voices of our time
@Smackdaddy9 is that really how your grandmother would want you to represent the values and morals and character she wanted you to have? Like she always said "Just say nothing if you can't say anything good, bro"...She was a smart gal and would appreciate this music for the classic art that it is. thanks
OK young people, I hope that you come across this presentation of another singer songwriter great and musician. Listen and learn,it could be you who is lonely.
Siempre me ha gustado James Taylor. Creo que tiene una de las voces más intimistas y cálidas que se pueden escuchar. Que junto con sus letras hacen de él un artista enorme.
Yes I believe JT Is the original, and the best for this song but even if some cant admit it...the Isley Bros. did add a nice new twist to this original.
man i don't think even think it's a question of skill ( although of course JT has a lot of it). It just doesn't sound right with anyone else signing this song!
I really miss this song. We played this as soon as it hit the radio waves in Washington, D.C.. The original had a beautiful sax solo (my instrument) that would stop people in their tracks and make them hold each other. That sure was a loving time with tasty music to match. Glad i was there.
James is definately a cornerstone of my musical influences. His subtle style has a beautifully true edge that makes a statement in a way as only he can. Awesome! =)
*wiping my eyes* OMG I'm getting too old for this- I remember when he had his long hair and knitted eyebrows on vinyl. I was just a little girl but I was so in love with him. Thank you for posting.
