  • Eric Clapton better on this song?? LMFAO

  • Eric Clapton is a genius, but he cannot since love ballads worth a damn.

  • クラプトンもカバーした、ジェームス・テイラー、畢生の傑作曲”寂しい夜”、豪華ゲストのアルバム"ワン・マン・ドッグ"だったネ!(ライヴ)

  • I have to say eric clapton's version is much better

  • @cabutchei Go fuck yourself, do you know what music is?

  • @dakeyson yes I do and I'm pretty sure I have a good musical taste:I like (love)beatles,david bowie,rolling stones,the police,ac/dc,guns n' roses,phil collins,billy joel,(love)elton john and (love)eric clapton.Also I like james taylor.Now that I proved I have a good musical taste(and therefore know what music is) I repeat: eric's version is BETTER.You just can feel the emotion in eric's version in a way you can't in james'.

  • it was nice song ^^

  • esse drauzio varela é muito bom mesmo!

  • มาจาก room 39

  • Attybong I dont commend u for this clip but the engineer that switches the cameras----where did he get all those pretty women from? Attybong doesn't tell the place of the venue nor the year of the concert but I look much better than JT and deserve the same 'in awe" looks from these super pretty middle - prime - age broads.....I may also reciprocate much better than with just a few gooey songs!

  • You don`t just listen to James Taylor with your ears.

You will miss so much if you do not listen with your heart.

  • isley brothers better

  • God bless Eric Clapton but he does not own this song.

James Taylor owns this song. And James Taylor proved it once again in this magnificent live version. The master, in rare form. The fact that James Taylor had so many women of all ages swooning over him here speaks for itself; yes indeed, James Taylor was no doubt not lonely after he finished singing that night, for real. Long live James Taylor.

  • I guess he realized that hanging out with Carly Simon was a bigger responsibility than he was willing to take on at that time. Just saying.

  • @kja427 Whatever happened with them, thankfully they kept their son Ben out of it, so he wouldn't grow up feeling responsible. I admire the way they ended a marriage but kept the friendship.

  • Amazing to think this song was written at the height of a chronic heroin addiction. Does it relate to a woman, or to the smack? Both make people lonely if they are not instantly available. I guess only James can answer that one. Nevertheless, what a song whatever the meaning. Mindbending saxophone solo to finish.

  • I love James Taylor and his song writing absolutely touches me and is beautiful:-)

    Thank you James

  • Reminds me of all the times I just needed someone to lie to me as well; to hold me tight. But sometimes, just sometimes, it feels as if love is running out through the glass just like the sand in an hour glass -- running out!

  • Very very beautiful song. Thanks for posting... From Japan

  • Eric Clapton owns this song.

  • @NeonBlueAlex actually, James Taylor owns the rights to the song :L

  • @NeonBlueAlex finally someone agrees!

  • god james is sooooo smooth

  • I think GOD will be the one to judge James..

He sure did bless him with a wonderful voice

  • Yes, johnrhodes101975, the man can truly sing. He can take a song and weave it into your heart and mind as a memory that will never fade. A story-teller with a lifetime of experiences to work with and the gift to get them to us. I grew up with him and his music and he only gets better with time. Our lives are richer because of his contributions and they instruct us to live to make a loving difference in other's lives in this otherwise befuddled world.

  • James, deine Musik ist ein Traum, danke!!!

  • I <3 james taylor. he will never be lonely tonight.

  • that guy did heroin no?

  • @hackajim WHO CARE IF HE DID I DONT KNOW THE MAN CAN SING THATS ALL I CARE ABOUT

  • BRILLIANT .....King James

  • I love Don Glornick.... RIP

  • @tobogan4 : Glornick was such a strong personality and part of these sounds we have come to cherish and sing along with when we hear them. All with him in the background moving the song's rhythm and depth smoothly along. RIP, indeed...

  • A really great song. A classic

  • 8 people deaf and blind who dislike this song.

  • @Smackdaddy9 is that really how your grandmother would want you to represent the values and morals and character she wanted you to have? Like she always said "Just say nothing if you can't say anything good, bro"...She was a smart gal and would appreciate this music for the classic art that it is. thanks

  • OK young people, I hope that you come across this presentation of another singer songwriter great and musician. Listen and learn,it could be you who is lonely.

  • ah, why couldn't that piano solo have lasted longer?

  • because JT is on the stage!

  • however...i wish michael brecker would have been there to play sax

  • this song reminds me of my ex husband he would go out with his friends but one night i said i dont want to be lonly tonight.

  • This may be with the Boston Pops Orchestra conducted by John Williams?

  • Vintage James Taylor - was there a DVD/Video made of this concert?

    Sammy D

    Belfast, Northern Ireland

  • I'm in love with that brunette they pan on in the opening part of the song.

  • I'm in love with nice women in generall

  • @Slickster52 She is very lovely

  • Yes! She is beauty incarnate! I'd eat a bucket-o-poison scorpions to win her heart!

  • @Slickster52 Taylor totally pounded that after the concert...

  • Best JT song ever, ever.....

  • Siempre me ha gustado James Taylor. Creo que tiene una de las voces más intimistas y cálidas que se pueden escuchar. Que junto con sus letras hacen de él un artista enorme.

  • ah repose for my soul............

  • I want to hear the Mike Brecker sax solo!

  • It just never gets old.....

  • @mdrawl

Oh yes it does, after 50 or so its starts to shrivel and won't work as well or often as you might like.

  • omg i love james talor

  • Bravo James!!!!!

  • Master of the masters! I love the music of this guy!! Long life to the master!!!

  • this song is one of my fav. JT songs ever

  • Yes I believe JT Is the original, and the best for this song but even if some cant admit it...the Isley Bros. did add a nice new twist to this original.

  • This song is full of jazz chords - unusual for a singer songwriter to use them and James does so magnificently.

  • Have seen James about 8 times and never heard this song live so envy those who got to be there. Lovely song.

  • I've seen so many disasterous versions of this song on youtube. Noboby does it as well as JT. End of story!

  • Actually as good as the original is, I think the studio version by the Isley Brothers is as good as it has ever been. Just my opinion.

  • man i don't think even think it's a question of skill ( although of course JT has a lot of it). It just doesn't sound right with anyone else signing this song!

  • I really miss this song. We played this as soon as it hit the radio waves in Washington, D.C.. The original had a beautiful sax solo (my instrument) that would stop people in their tracks and make them hold each other. That sure was a loving time with tasty music to match. Glad i was there.

  • !!!!!!

  • JT'S chord work is to die for!!! 5,000*

  • Great song, arrangement & piano solo at the end!!!

  • James is definately a cornerstone of my musical influences. His subtle style has a beautifully true edge that makes a statement in a way as only he can. Awesome! =)

  • SIMPLY WONDERFUL

    LOVE THE VOICE!

  • i like all the women faces they are smitten

  • bellissima!!

  • wtf

  • My favorite James Taylor song...!!!!

  • James is an AWESOME musician!

what was the name of the song he performed on jay leno's last show?

  • What a great song. A beautiful performance!

  • Pure poetry in music.

  • Sublime

  • Ditto

  • Oh shit, is that John Williams conducting? Must be the Boston Pops gig then.

  • Sure nuff good to see you, now it's time to go.

"DON"T SAY YES, BUT DON"T SAY NO."

  • More then a nice song it is classic James Taylor. This is such James Taylor....great song!....

  • really nice song!

  • when I Listen to this song I cry everytime for the emotions!!!

  • umiyak ako. huhu.. kakaiyak

  • Warm, like Nat Cole before him. That voice doesn't age.

  • Fabulous, but definitely missing the passion only sax master Michael Brecker could create, with each note filling in every emotional blank.

  • The piano solo on this video is one of my favorite parts.

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • A great ole song!

  • great wonderful fanttastic all times

  • I remember lovely times, relaxing

  • The saxophone in the studio version is amazing

  • that's because its Michael Brecker.
