I play runescape (low capacity really needed) and idk if i should get the alienware m11x (11.5" screen) or if i should get the sony vaio y series (this one) what im happy about with the m11x is the glowing keyboard and portability and extra stuff like two headfone jacks. But i like the bigscreen on this and the cad-5 cord port... What one do you think i should get (does the y series run off wifi too?) thanks. Help is greatly appriciated.

@DeathToTheseWalls That's funny that you mention that b/c prior to me purchasing my laptop, I was on a hunt for as much written and video reviews on this laptop as I could (this video was one of few, lol) I even went to my nearby Sony store and they didn't even have the series on inventory. When I asked the store associate why they didn't carry the Y series laptop, they said that they were discontinuing it. As to how true that is, I'm not too sure as I think there's a lot of potential with it.

@funkeroni I was thinking of getting the VAIO Y. I ultimately ended up with the HP DM4 -- less battery life (5 hours average) but a much better processor (Core i5 @ 2.4 GHz)

@just4all1 The Vaio EB (15.6") as it has an option for a 1080p screen and can be configured with the newest i5 processor and and has a starting price of $600 something dollars. With the exception of the W,X, and Y series laptops any of Sony's laptops are good for photo/video editing, especially since they come preinstalled with trials of Adobe editing software.

@manusnadh S series has DVD-tray and core i3 or i5 processing unit (not ULV like the Y, which is meant for longer lasting battery, but you have got minor performance). Plus some business features like fingerprint reader, 3G Wireless LAN, HDD shock protection.

This VAIO beats the MacBook Pro with old Intel Core 2 Duo, The CULV Intel CPU rocks. Is the fastest processor with great performance and low voltage consuming. Allows a video, music or photograph professional go outside for 8 hours without caring the power would go down. For me these laptops are better than those with Core i3 or Core i5 since these CPU's use too much power and consume battery very fast

Sounds like you have some special demands on the LCD. Sony posts some specs on it's site but they don't have contrast ratio, viewing angles, or even brightness levels available. I could get my colorimeter and measure brightness, but that's really it. I don't know anyone out there that is posting independently confirmed display specifications for notebooks. Some people do it for monitor reviews, but that's it. If you are that concerned a $800 laptop probably isn't for you.

This is a new class of notebooks inbetween a netbook and a full power notebook. I have an Acer 3810 with a 1.4GHz processor and no optical drive. the point of these machines is longer battery life (my Acer gets 8 hours) than a standard notebook, yet still be more powerful than a netbook and as portable as a netbook.
