  • terra ripped off star ocean soooo much

  • Oh squaresoft... How i miss thee.... :'(

  • Ah nerds quit arguing and enjoy this amazing song xD

  • I'm playing Jak 3 from the jak collection, trying to beat the Wave gun course, and consistently failing at it (14000-15000 at best). I listen to this song, My mind goes into a trance-like state, and I almost get the 17000 needed for gold! WIN!

  • Can you believe Nobuo was self taught? He's a fucking musical genius. SquareEnix is a fucking joke. They are nothing now. The least they could have done was kept Nobuo was we could listen to good music while we play that piece of shit called FF 13-2

  • @Zer0SkiLL789 They wanted to keep Nobuo, but it was awkward for him to work closely with them because they moved. So he quit himself and became a free-lancer where any company can hire him. He still did the soundtrack for FF14.

And XIII's soundtrack was pretty good, it's a different style to Nobuo, but it's still extremely good. XIII-2's music was... questionable. But the gameplay in XIII-2 was alright.

I still like classic FF better in every aspect of course.

  • @Zer0SkiLL789 Amen brother.

  • It's interesting to me how many people find this game and it's soundtrack just, "okay." I actually get why that would be, since it's harkening a style long past. I think this game has absolutely the most sophisticated and beautifully arranged soundtrack. It uses MANY Baroque era contrapuntal techniques, while at the same time uses several Mozart and Beethoven conventions. Even with a focus on very complicated older conventions... his modern melodies sweep you away.

  • @justa16thnote I would have to say that FFVIII has the best overall soundtrack in my opinion.

  • porq chucha gente le pone no me gusta D:

  • this is so beautiful

  • Terra eh I wonder if they is a connection with FFVI?

  • FFIX was a meh game. Out of the first ten, it's probably places 4th or 5th to me.

  • @justa16thnote But what would you rate the music?

  • The Last great JRPG.

  • @VsionEffectable Dragon Quest VIII.

  • @VsionEffectable Xenosaga III is the last great one imho but I absolutely loved FFIX :)

  • @VsionEffectable Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii, check it out pal :)

  • @Jonoridge

I will try it and also The Last Story.

  • @VsionEffectable Yeah I have The Last Story pre-ordered. If you don't mind playing a PS2 game 'Persona 4' is definatly worth a look as well... Best RPG I played on the PS2.

  • ff 7,8,9 and 13 are the best in my eyes

  • @Warhound8619 I agree on FFVII, VIII and IX, but XIII??? No way, it's the worst imo, even worse than FFX-2. BTW, FFX was also masterpiece as well as FFVI.

  • @Warhound8619 I'm older so my favorites are IV and VI :)

  • FF VII, IX, and X are three of the best games ever made. Each is comparable to each other, or rather equally epic. Square needs to get back to its roots

  • 00:15, chills

  • this game has more character than every rpg after it. new games just... i dunno. with this game, i feel like i'm in a world with NPCs that mean something, even if they have nothing to do with the plot.

  • The top comment has been hidden

  • the chillingly soothing piece... knowing this place will be destroyed later on T.T

  • Wow, i have been listening to the playlist from the start now... I just realized just how far i have come...

  • Sorrow :( I really want to cry when i hear this beautiful piece

  • Teardrop.

  • I love this song. All the music in this game makes me feel some sort of emotion and makes me not able to stop listening to it

  • @DevastationNazo u obviously don't know what you're talking about

  • Comment removed

  • i don't remember this being so soft

  • Fucking fantastic

  • FF9 needs to be turn into an anime like FF7

  • @kyuzona ... and totaly destroy the magic that this game has even after years.

  • to all people who´s only knewing ps3 and xbox360!!! you should buy a ps1 or a ps2 and buy... this... GAME!!!!!!!!!! *-*

  • Nobuo Uematsu...please come back ....

  • @adamlutton He is back. Sort of... in MMORPG form. Uematsu did the entire soundtrack for FFXIV. The music was of course noted as being one of the only great parts of the game

  • @adamlutton

Square Soft... Please come back ...

  • I feel...different...

  • god will bless everyone who like this song

  • @kyuzona Ok, im blessed 10000 times. xD

  • Why do I feel like I'm listening to a Professor Layton game? AWESOME!

  • Song features a lot of harp accompaniment. Terra's scenery and anything related to Terra have have harp shaped structures. You're welcome.

  • bet i could take zidanes tail of his ass and stick it on my ass

  • this song just sends me into a paralisys, I can't do anything except let the song just sweep me away, such peacefulness and harmony.

  • you wouldn't think a place like Terra would had such breathtaking music

  • I lo ve it!

  • vivi is a dutty little guy, guys wana be him girls wana hug him

  • @jackukg I'm a guy and I want to hug him, he's adorable

  • @jackukg i definetely want to be him...hugging him would cause either severe burns, awkwardness, or hypothermia

  • simply beautiful... i used to hear this song when i was sad or stressed, and it always made me feel better =)

  • Love this song.

  • i love how the bran bal theme and the terra theme are so similar. when you hear them, you just know that bran bal is part of this desolate and soulless world.

  • Hahahahaha!!! No Wonder! How could i be so stupid?? XD

  • Terra.... Name rings a bell from somewhere...

  • @zidanetribal661 Terra and Gaia both means Earth, I think that's why your bell are ringing. xD

  • @thegiant1994

    did you say bell?

    /watch?v=phKCkFFXP8k

  • @thegiant1994 or it might be the fact terra is a main character in final fantasy 6...

  • Its very nice! FF9 makes me feel so many things with music

  • I respect VII for what a ground-breaking game it was, but IX was my favorite - the characters, the story and the landscapes...

I wish they'd go back to the cartoon-esque way of depicting FF games, this new shit sucks

  • @sdmac21 Funny, I find this squashed cartoony style to be unbearably ugly and partially retarded.

  • @shimazu32 graphic whore detected!

  • @shimazu32 that's your opinion but everyone now is going for visual effect that its ruined good stories

  • @shimazu32 only 'partially' retarded? Why not wholly? Thanks for the completely useless/moronic comment. I find your contribution to this discussion unbearably unintelligent.

  • @sdmac21 Agreed, the realistic look ruined FF. It started in FF8 remember? I figured after FF9, they might have realized the cartoony look gave the characters actual personalities. The realistic look and english voice acting has just reduced the characters to average people we don't care about.Oh, and If FF wants to utilise voice acting, at least give the option of the Japanese voices with subtitles....the english dubbed voices are horrible.

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed spot on - the talking (and over done cut scenes) have turned the games into a b-rate film rather than a game.

  • @sdmac21 Personally, I like the gameplay of IX, and the plot to an admitadly lesser extent, but its the art that I didn't like. I personally prefer it when the art matches the tone of a game. Now, the voice acting still kills most modern FF titles (say it with me, "TEEDUS!") but the art usually isn't the thing that gets me.

  • @DevastationNazo to me IX was more up-beat and somewhat fantasy-inspired then VII and VIII - so for me, the art fit will. I agree 100% though; the worst part of the new crap is the voice-overs. Why did they determine that is the 'direction' the games should go? Sad

  • @sdmac21 well*

  • @sdmac21 My real problem artisticly was, while the early portions start out upbeat, then you hit things like the genocide of the mildly adorable rat people by rather cute mages. And the genocide of thedestruction of terra and most of what little life it had on it by Uber-Kuja. Who still looks like a girl. And while all this is going on, up to and including the protaganist snapping and going off to murder Garland when he finds out what he is, all of the characters save two look like kids.

  • @DevastationNazo thats why its so amazing. its the subversion of everthing we know since the fact is people are born capable of good and evil, it has nothig do to with age and everything to do with the inherent condition of man, and maybe its also a little on the subject "what is evil, is it intention alone or action alone", so some individuals may do "evil" but not see themselves as evil, and vice versa. The FF series got better in this regard, grey morality from FFVII.

  • @MrJohnny56789 I don't see that. With the excepton of Amarant (and all his seven lines after his introduction) the protaganists are all unambiguously good charachters and the villains, without exception, are at best the kind of well intentioned extremists that show up enough for that to be a trope n and of themselves. And then there's Necron. But the thing I was trying to get across was that the art simply made it impossible to take the serious scenes seriously. Zidanes bouncing tail kills that.

  • @DevastationNazo I would have to disagree with you. I am not a fond of arguments and have not seen the original comment, but I do not see how Zidane having a tail is humorous, if anything it just adds to the type of personality he usually has. I am not a big fan of FF7, and do not like FF9 that much, but I would not say that Zidanes tail did not ruin any serious scenes. I really liked the last parts of the game with the "your not alone" and the final boss and good ending.

  • @DevastationNazo they are kids.

  • @sdmac21 I totally agree. But I did like ff10 but this was probably the best

  • @sdmac21 the characters were very unique the storyline was fantastic and the music was breathtaking

  • you only get to listen to this track once the entire game... and after u cross the bridge u cannot turn back anymore! sigh!!! terra has 2 of the best tracks... this and you're not alone!

  • @silverjonquil See, I dunno know why, but I coulda sworn Protecting My Devotion plays at the part where you're not alone plays... I guess I must be thinking of the part where steiner and beatrix team up to protect alexandria

  • Final Fantasy IX, X and XIII are my favorite FF! i love them.

  • this song is so magical, filled with so much emotion

  • i always got so sad when i got to terra and heard this theme....cuz i knew the game was almost over ='[

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

    I´am crying >.<

  • Final Fantasy IX is the best RPG ever made. It's a masterpiece.

  • @Raptor8762 Pretty low standards. The only thing memorable about this game was the music, other than that this game stands with X-2 as the worse rpg I have ever played.

Of course this is subjective, and i honestly really wish I enjoyed this game as much as some of you rather than it being one of the biggest disappointments for me.

  • @Raevynwhyte Some people just have something about them that prevents them from understanding and enjoying extremely high quality Jrpg video games such as FFIX. Maybe it's your upbringing, way of life? Who knows, but the fault lies with you.

  • @Raptor8762

Wouldn't say it is a fault, it is subjective.

I played plenty of jrpgs i liked this one I didnt ~shrugs~

  • @Raevynwhyte dude you know that pretty much no one here is going to agree with you, so why do you even have to say that? Do you want to argue or something? Fine, you're an idiot and don't know a good RPG when you see one

  • @crolen42 Personal opinion is all that you're shouting...remember that.

  • The last final fantasy where all you have to do is read what they say....and the last on the playstation.....the best is the last. Such a beautiful song...it'll be a very amazing memory....I love final fantasy....FOREVER

  • haunting

  • One does not simply dislike a Final Fantasy masterpiece!

  • What Instruments are Used with this One Song ?

  • @iAmSasuke1 just a synthesizer....but if it was orchestrated it would be played by a piano, harp, flute, and violin....give or take a few other instruments

  • @iAmSasuke1 Harp, oboe?, glockenspiel? and mellotron strings at 01:16.

  • @ivnmrkvc Speak English.

  • @iAmSasuke1 If I am not mistaken, those are names of Instruments. That is speaking English.

  • @lovelyXzexion Well it's not an Instrument that I'm familiar with ...

  • @iAmSasuke1 You didn't know the Harp?

  • @SuperNintendomaniac no, oboe and glockenspiel

  • @iAmSasuke1 Ok, me too XD

  • Garland: What is your name?

    Zidane: Me!? My name is-

    Garland: What is your name?

Zidane: Hey, What's your problem!? I'm trying to tell you my name.

Garland: So you believe a given name has meaning...

    Come and see for yourself...

See what Terra is, and what you are...

  • @TopZack oh Garland...you poor decrepit asshole...

  • 0:00 to 0:07 amazeing

  • I am learning in guitar this song now, i love it too

  • i'm learning this song on piano at the moment, i love it

  • replay button abused

  • テラの雰囲気と合っていて大好きです

  • i swear the first 10 sec is one of the most beautiful musical pieces in the history

  • Songs like these remind me why I kept my PS2; so that I can visit the magical world of old FF's any time I want.

Games like these will go down in history as something unique and wonderful.

Once in a lifetime gaming experience.

  • Right about here is where we're introduced to the inside of HR Giger's mind, which is inhabited by soulless aliens who live on glowing blue mushrooms, and are trying to take over our souls.

  • j'adore cette musique, c'est beau tout simplement :)

  • Im spanish ;) i love his game, is my favorite ^_^

  • Terra: Wait, this isn't my theme!

  • that ones so sick :)

  • the whole final fantasy franchise is partially responsible for shaping me into what I am today. Thanks for sharing Uematsus alltime classics Conley!

  • FF9 had the best soundtrack over all other FF, imo.

  • The part of the game where shit got real.

  • FF9 was the first one I ever actually played at all. The story, the characters, the music- everything about this game has withstood the test of time. It remains one of my very favourite games of all time and my favourite Final Fantasy in the series.

  • My favourite soundtrack from the entire game.

  • Kuja made four accounts to dislike this.

  • 4 people was so amazed with this music in their rush to press the like button they missed

  • and this 1 is also quite an underrate forgotten tune. such other worldly harmoniously beautiful tune

  • @silverjonquil Every ff9 tune is simply amazing... I played ff13 the other day and while I enjoyed the story.... FF music has obviously gone out the window. The magic simply doesn't exist anymore, and shit like this makes my head want to explode. Thank you nobuo uematsu for keeping it real. I'm afraid we'll never get a final fantasy as epic.

  • @Fellati0 That's because they have voice acting now, so they don't need music to set the mood. I've noticed this while playing too, they use the same 5 songs over and over and it makes the game shit. Sure, there were some really awesome parts of the game that just wouldn't have been as powerful if you didn't hear their voices, but overall the game was horrible story wise.

  • @MrScootify

I think cutscenes suffered a bit too thanks to voice acting. There was a certain heavy, yet artistic and even theatrical, exaggeration in movements and facial animations during the brief cg cutscenes. It's no longer necessary since now they can talk during these intense scenes. I miss that... :-(

  • @Malificious85 Same here. I want nobuo to compose one more soundtrack for an oldschool themed FF. Kinda like FF9 was meant to be more fantasy themed and had everything from old school to recent games before it all mashed into one. I want the reading back, the awesome music.. and you imagination to fill the rest.

  • Sigh! my most favourite FF9 tunes

  • 4 persons have shit in there ears

  • @XXXmitsarugiXXX not just in their ears, in their brains, too.

  • Terra = Tina

  • Seriously. Why would anyone press the dislike button for this?

  • 4 person don't have disc 3

  • thank you for uploading this beautiful music.

  • 4 persons could never reach Terra...

  • thumbs up if you think kingdom hearts was the first sign of squaresoft's doom

  • @luchiadore I disagree the first KH, was a success, but...Dirge of Cerbeus, have you seen those graphic controls, one royal mess, and I'm a fan!! I even beat it, but let me tell ya, after I played that, I felt a pang of worry. And 13 pretty much dashed my hopes. But I look onto these and see many others feel similar so I wait, for the next good FF.

  • Thumbs up if you think Terra would be a great world for Kingdom Hearts.

  • spettacolo...

  • Terra..what a planet..

  • ok...............fk this................. ALL OF U ARE MY GAME DEVELOPER ASSISTANTS!!! im gonna remake this game...and 8...and 7... but 9 first... like this for christ sakes and ill post this on every single one of PeyserConley's final fantasy 9 music videos! SO START LIKEING!!

  • @CaNavyseal7 But i dont know....shall there be voice speakers for the characters?

You know that this is a hardcore amount of work ^^

BUT if u want it I will Help you I dont know how at the moment BUT im with you FF9 shall be remaked :)

  • @Saschgede psh no voice-overs...OLDSCHOOL SON! ALL DAY EVERYDAY GET @ ME!

  • @CaNavyseal7 ABSOL-FLOGGING-LUTELY!!!!!!!!

  • this song really makes me think....

  • One of the best FF tracks, no doubt.

  • If i don't hear this at least once a day, then something's wrong with me...

  • The music represents the arrival on Terra perfectly perfectly. It feels otherwordly and strange, almost dream-like.

You listen to this and you feel calm and relaxed, but also slightly sad. Given what we learn of this world later on that is appropriate.

Uematsu sir, I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are the master of this franchise.

  • You press dislike button, then you just like other dummy-dummies

who not know beautiful music composure

  • @ffphreekz Oh, crap! I'm sorry, I accidentally pressed the dislike button. I meant to like it, though, honest. Sorry!

...I totally agree with you, though.

  • Great game. Great gameplay. Great soundtrack. And now RIP Squaresoft

  • @hotblower1 I admire you for not acknowledging the graphics (even though they are good.) That just shows that not everybody worships graphics over everything that matters most.

  • @trect18 agreed. i love this game not because of the graphics, but because of the shit you could do in the game!

  • @hotblower1 squaresoft didnt really die. they merged with enix

  • @nafis100 They died when Sakaguchi left so yes basically becoming Enix has destroyed them because they changed their headquarters and thus Sakaguchi didn't want to move...

  • @Jonoridge Sakaguchi left on his own free will though, infact he's the sole reason Square had to merge with enix because they lost major funds with Sakaguchi quiting. Idk why he'd want to though, he was president of Square of America and SquareSofts vice-president i think. I know he left to start mist walker but I would've stayed personally lol
