  • can you please tell me what is the 6:10 song , peace!

  • not impressive, craze fucking tore through him end of story

  • Oh I'm Sorry, I had the turntable at the wrong speed. {LMAO}

  • pure ozzy talent...very nice

  • Didn't know god wore a beanie...

  • They always overlook the iLL DJ's

they did the same thing to DJ Mysterio

  • Does anyone know this video's track list?

  • thats what i love about Dexters routines, you can always expect some crazy blend!

and i love crazy blends! :]

  • Dexta...u da man...i miss ur routines brotha...dmc battling aint what it used to be!

  • Damn I remember this....swing jazz routine was dope.

  • Saw Dexter perform at Victorian and Australian finals between 1997-2000 and without being parochial, this is an amazing set. Craze won and Craze is truly great, but not a single hip-hop tune in this mix and it's as technically creative and musically acomplished as any set before or after. Awesome.

  • Dexter is the Jimi Hendrix of turntables. Who's with me?

  • @DeepSpaceBand with u on that fa sho!!!!!

  • @DeepSpaceBand He is no Jimi Hendrix of turntables, DJ Nelson is the Jimi Hendrix of the turntables.

  • the best thing bout this set is that he doesnt even use any hip hop records

  • @postiebikeracer high fuckin five to that

  • @postiebikeracer except at the beginning.

  • Was in Australia a few years ago, spent a few weeks in Cairns (rubbish for music). But was lucky enough to see this guy play. There was fuck all people in the club but to his credit he went on the mic before his set, and TOLD everyone in the club to come up and stand right in front of him for his set.... and then started off with that exact Jimmy Hendrix mix. Good man. Quality.

  • This is one of the best sets in the history of DMC. Can't believe they gave it to Craze.

  • One of my favourite DMC sets of all time... Absolutely different to anything else ever seen in the competition

  • He turned the turntable into a real music instrument.

  • This one of those "The World Stopped just for the Dj" special moment in DMC history.

  • name track 1:51 please

  • holy shit 4:40 is the business. Blew my mind.

  • Dexta has mad style !!!!!

  • 2:04 and onwards . . . Another universe.

  • Love this! ^_^

  • this man delivers the goods everytime i've seen him! and is a really nice dude too... lookin' forward to seein' you in Brisvegas on the tour

  • DMC went downhill after this year..dexta shoulda won w/ the 3/4 change-up and swing set..think craze won because everyone wanted 3-peat..craze was 100% clean but dexta was on some next level shit

  • Crazy Crazy dope set !!! Craze was good Dexta was good heavy battle ^.-

  • @poopheadIII Plus One would've given Dexta and Craze a run for their money in this year, but he was robbed of his rightful place in the World Final, and the very mediocre Mr Thing went instead - mainly because most of the judges were his mates.

  • Plus one did fuck his set up in the uk final mind

  • technically craze got his set perfect, dexta wasn't as good technically, but just for the creativeness of the set he should have won!

  • This is one of my fav' sets ever,it's crazy creative,it should have been the winning set,the only reason craze won was because he was makin' DMC history if he did!don't get me wrong craze is the biz',but on this occasion the wrong man won!

  • KILLA

  • I think was a dope set, and really original. But it wasn't flawless, Nor was it as good as Kentaro's set in 2002. That set was flawless

  • dj craze won by using typical hip hop beats and routine

dexta should have won he used something else and had more creativity and originality with tight druming and juggling

i mean dj craze is hella good but c'mon dexta killed his routine if not killed then originaly better

if craze lost he would look like an idiot because he had a banner that said world 2000 dmc champion b4 he won

a rigged decision i heard from many people who actually came there

  • you said "i mean dj craze is hella good but c'mon dexta killed his routine if not killed then originaly better"

Dude you're a idiot. 2000 was not the only year that Dexta got served by Craze. Dexta also got his ass handed to him in 1998 and 1999.

He lost and for good reason. DJ Craze had a better set in 2000 and in 1998 and in 1999. deal with it

  • watch?v=OSxlS3Yfjxw

  • Dexta, that boy needs therapy.

  • DEXTA should have won in 2000

  • Craze set was WAY better. Better beats. Simple as that.

  • esta cancion pinchada asi no la conocia buennnisina

  • This set technically flawless. Dexta should have won DMC 2000. The conspriacy was since DJ Craze was a back-to-back winner, DMC wanted to see he 3peat. Mind you Craze's set was great (I think he no fader scratch won it) but this Dexta's set was flawless...I could watch/listen to this set over and over again

  • yea the needle dropping won it for craze

  • Craze said that i inspired that trick he did, i'm still a big fan of Dexta too though! .. Mysterio

  • to postiebikebreaker he is using j5 records in some of his routine. so how can they be copying his style? dexta is sick though!

  • jaw dropping-ly amazing!

  • this is real turntablism....

  • best set eva! no disrespekt 2 craze but dexta owned that battle even j5 bite his style damn!

  • holy shit!

  • genius ... any other year his set takes it, but he went up against a flawless DJ Craze. This set easily beats some of the past champs though ! Awesome

  • 4:01- 4:50 - Juggling those vocals "PROFESSIONAL" lol fuck yea Dexta u da man this routine is goin' down in history ae. Professional Mahfukkaz.....

  • I love how he switches genres.

  • yeah craze was hot that night......dexter should of got it tho no sweat!!!!

  • I can't stop watcjing this video, the bit were the swing music starts is my favorite part. Makes me wish i thought of that routine

  • true, his routine was amazing!!ahead on his time ;dmc was not ready for this pure creativity.

  • thats the point! exactly-

im not even sure if most of them are today..

  • I went to the 2000 DMC Champs. This DJ finished 2nd,should have won due to originality. But a yank called DJ Craze won for the 3rd time in a row with an average set.He started his set with some sort of banner or screen saying "DMC Champion:1998,1999,2000?".Can' t quite remember exactly, but it seemed to me he had won before he'd started,or else he'd look a right cunt for having the banner. And all of this crew congratulated him before the winner had been announced.A good night but a rigged result.

  • the avalanches - frontier psychiatrist

  • HOT.....especially the hendrix intro juggle!!!

  • best dmc set ever.

  • dj noizes 1996 routine, cant be compared....

  • very unique

  • Dexta is awesome. He's been to the DMC about 150,000 times now it seems, but the man is definetly great. Has his own brand of style to it.

  • this was dmc's finest era. no question.

  • i say crazes set was still better. Only thing that i really liked about dextas set was his intro and Hendrix juggle. Everything after that i wasnt really feeling. It seemed sloppy.

  • THE OLD RAG TIME PART JAM WUZ THE BESt!

  • fARRRRKkk!!!!@ does this guy still dj!?

nice track selection very original, none of that homeboy b-boy break shit. well done

  • Yea man dj dexta still dj's... I know this dude and he be doing his thing wit another unique set called grrilla step... Grrilla step consist of dj dexta, drum drum (a drumming crew) and last but not least the royal kaos KRUMP FAM... Now his involved wit the australian Krump movement.. So watch out for him and us (infamous royal kaos fam)

    Fresh aka Freezy boii

  • 1:16 - 1:40 lost him the championship. Nothing but pure noise. Too bad because the rest of his set was unique and GREAT!

  • also I feel that he should have done the beat juggling right after the jimi hendrix shit and then used the jazz sample after that and then end the way he did. I think he he started out with the juggling but ended with a bang then it wouldhave been better.

  • what lost him the title like it did every year was that he didnt spin chart shit.

  • @bigsteeb What's Spin Chart?

  • @Coatl360 he meant chart songs, as in popular shit. spin as in play/mix/scratch...

  • @Coatl360 It just means he didn't play any chart music! People say "spin" because a record spins on the turntable. Peace out...DJTrueSoul.

  • You win you lose, not fussed really, I just like music so it's not ' pure noise' if you have another listen, I flip the time signature from 4/4 to 3/4, I wanted to do justice to the track and take it to a different psychadelic level rather than what is obvious, I doubt I was scored for technically juggling in 3/4 cos it hardly has been done, even to this day. Crazy B was the first person to juggle in 3/4 a few years back but it went over peoples heads + judges, same with my routine I think.

  • That routine culd have been judged number 1 for so many reasons but regardless, its still a groundbreaking routine to this day and always will be simply because of muscianship.. Craze's was also in a way but your routine reaches a much wider audience. After seeing you perform this at the 2000 Oz final i went and purchased turntables even though it was all the money I had at the time and I've never got to thank you man.. Peace

  • Like you, I aspire to this routine. It embodies the spirit of DJing more than any other routine out there. I especially respect the use of original vinyls rather than battle records or those purpose pressed records that they use in the new DMC routines. I don't get that. Thanks infinitely Dexter for inspiring me...

  • i am also inspired from this. it gave me chills! and i am going to buy turntables and start now that i'm young at 16.

  • I really liked the Basement Jaxx juggle you did in qualifying, understated but really sweet with a nice 3/4 swing that accentuated the techno/industrial parts of the song. The locked groove stuff you were doing in 98/99/00 was much more refined and interesting than the run-of-the-mill drum and bass stuff, that most were trying to emulate.

  • Basement Jaxx juggle? Is that available to watch on video? I've never seen it. I was also at the Millennium Dome that night, and, along with Dexta's routine, the highlight for me was Kid Koala's trumpet scratch routine. He and Dexta both got standing ovations from the crowd, unlike Craze.

  • @dexterOz. Sup Dexter, Just wondering if have you ever designed a mixer? I mean from your 1999 set and the hamster switch was a wet dream. Did you have a hand in design?

It's just hit me where C2C "could" of got their routines from? if anyone? You were too far ahead of time bruv. Hate to say it since 2001, but the originality (D.I.T.C) has been diluted to weird ass, barely recognisably hooks.

    Peace.

    One love.

  • @dexterOz Hey dexter, remember we played ball 1on1 at Prahran Court? You pulled a mad streetmove where you injured my finger? Haha my finger healed a bit wierd bro - mad memory from that incident. lol

And I never noticed you took dj'ing this far. Thats respect man!

  • @dexterOz i was there and remember thinking u should have won

  • @dexterOz I love how you have the knowledge of a real musician, not just 'a guy who DJs'. That is evident in your crazy juggling like this one xD

  • @dexterOz Could you please tell us which records are you using in that routine?...I only recognize the Louis Armstrong record, Jimmy Hendrix´s Purple Haze, and Beatles. Thanks, from Argentina! :)

  • @juampadj i spotted "swing set" by the jurassic five

  • @dexterOz you sure did fam ! hahaha ! Its all good youre still dope in my book yo

  • @dexterOz I saw this few years ago and it just popped in my head to look it up. You're an original, forget about the rules, making music and DJing means exploring new ground. You did just that.

  • nice. I see a little p trix in there...

  • 1 of the most original djs.can't front on this cat.cats that battle these days are playin!

  • nearly 7 yrs has gone and i'm still undecided as to who should have won this, craze or dexter... Both were great sets but very very different styles so its difficult to judge, although dexter definately got a better crowd reaction he kinda messed up around 3min mark and Craze's set was insanely techincal and flawless for its time!!!

  • its crazy ^^

  • DEXXXTA the man !!! I also agree should have taken the title in 2000 !!!

  • I hate to say but that set is way better than crazes winning set

  • dam this was freakin awesome the swing mix was the shit it was so tight

  • it looked like he was really nervous in the beginning and then he just goes off

  • he reminds me of kid koala on the swing juggle

  • fuckin insane in the membrane

  • Hahahha, nice i like the use of classic records instead of battle records/break stuff.

  • he should have won it instead of craze this year

  • DEXTA!!!!!!! i love that HENDRIX juggle.

  • daym this blow my mind away. he flexed it with rock, swing, and with a bit of funk?!?! no one else was messing with that until like 4 years later. dope stuff dextra. thanks for sharing fefedj

  • ill give you that no one was fucking with swing music, but people were using rock and funk since 96 man.

  • word? i c. i gotta do some research then. i started djing in 1999 and since then, it was mainly commercial/jiggy shit, or a heavy reliance on break records for dj battles.

  • Haha, nice one Fefe ")

Dexta is the man, but i gotto say that his previous years were a hell of a lot more technical and musical to me ")
