First of all: Hassidims are not all Chabad, there is a huge amount of hassidic people, each one coming from a different rabbi, like there is many groups of sefardims and Ashkenazims (Ethiopians etc.) all of them with different "groups" and leaders. All of the elite of the talmudic scholars, or most of them study the kabbalah.
