So, Blizzard is doubling down on this weapon dmg/spd based spell effects? And they're pointing out that it means you could use a shield, too, as a positive? So, why are they even bothering to have things like wands in the game? @SnowAura1337 you think you will go around 1hit mobs in inferno too? it will be the other way around, the mobs you see in beta play will 1hit you in inferno.
some items gonna have 1/10000000 to drop, so no, you wont max gear in 2 months.

the first part of the game is intentionally easy, to let new ppl ease into it, and learn the game, while it get progressively harder. most games are very easy in beginning.

What other games last 2 months these days, besides PvP heavy or MMOs? I hope it's crazy hard. Comparing her with Tyreal's Secret (15); those wings are amazing, but Kater's costume has more detail all over. 13 has great detail and some unique changes added in his, but he couldn't move in it. 16 & 18 beats her with personality, but not costume. I'm subscribed to Katers17, but I want people to vote for her for it being a better costume, not just because we love her!
It's not possible for them to "balance 1handed vs. 2handed" items.
Damage will be superior over cast speed if resources actually work correctly.
If you're actually limited by arcane power / mana, then cast speed is a hinderence compared to +damage. You'll want to make the most out of your resource until it runs dry, so +damage will be better.
If your resource doesn't run out, then +cast -might- be better. But then it's not really a 'resource' and they've failed anyway.
Is there going to be +skill stats on items and am i going to be able to get spells from items for other classes than my own? Just like in D2? I havent had any information about this, have you?
@MrRentah Skills/points are gone. So +skill is gone too. +Skill used to raise the skill level of an ability, spells/abilities no longer have levels. So it would bea worthless stat anyhow.

@MrRentah Well no, not quite. You have to remember Diablo 3 abilities ARE the customization in this game. With the way runes work. Each spell ingame actually has a total of 6 functions. So, basically you've 6 times the amount of abilities it appears you have, crimson rune meteor is a totally different skill than say golden run meteor.
On total there's about about 300,000 possible skill combinations PER class. With gear/gems etc, you're looking at millions of possible builds, maybe billions.
@Koreiwa Fair enough. but eventually there's going to come some D3 geek like in WoW that will tell people whats best for each and every class and people will follow this persons example for the future, he's creating a trend based on extreme geekish look on the game. so he will narrow down these combinations into like 3 per class and the game with be all shallow and destroyed. thats my biggesty fear
@MrRentah Well in D3 players have no one to answer to. No guild. No group members, unless you want them. No outside influences or people forcing/relying on your performance. What you do will be your choice and yours alone
Make no mistake there will be optimal builds and people will find and share them. However if done correctly what's optimal for act 1 shouldnt be for act 234

@Kim3x3x3 Your stats are auto assigned, but you can focus on stat equipment builds. In the Beta many people are getting +Att equipment to get the highest DPS possible. In the Beta the highest DPS comes from two 1h, not from a 2h.
If you wanted the highest dmg meteor you need amazing stats on a 2h OR a 1h+orb. Currently in Infernal 1h+orb is giving better stats and faster casting, as some spells use wpn speed as cast speed. Not sure if Meteor is affected by wpn speed yet.
@Kuvter in some cases where you use weapons to do more dmg in d2 like infinity on nova sorcs,there is no fcr on infinity and even if it was it wouldent be more then any orb + spirit but it is still worth it so your point about other items is absurd because if the dmg is on par or over the fcr dps you will be able to use a 2h.I dont see what blizzard is going for here at all , just make the orb main source of +spell dammage problem solved, like wow just brought up a notch imo,fcr=faster cast rate
@Kim3x3x3 Lets say the highest flat damage on a 2h is 100 and the highest on a 1h is 75. In that case if an orb adds >26 dmg then your meteor will to the most dmg with 1h+orb. If the highest orb is <25 dmg then a 2h will give the highest dmg for meteor.
It's quite possible you're right that highest dmg meteor will come from 2h. Currently 1h+orb is working better for inferno, which might means better over all stats and fcr, but not highest single target dmg. So, highest may be 2h again like D2.
@Kuvter Might want to check the current items they've displayed however. Top-end two handed weapons are over double the damage of a 1handed weapon of the same quality. 200 1handed, 440 for 2handed.
However even the beta isn't going to be a good place to test this, so we're really at the mercy of what blizzard claims is happening internally.
Just simple math, using the weapon damage %'s given for a spell and the weapons in the current armory, make 1hand / offhand look terrible however.

I think the highest DPS will come from two 1h or a 1h+offhand. The one huge factor you're missing, att speed or attacks per second (APS). A 1h with x2 APS of a 2h doubles the +Att on equipment. Example a 2h with 400DPS/1ASP/+200 att on equipment does 600DPS a 1h with 200 DPS/2APS/+200att also does 600DPS [(100+200)x2]. Do the math for +250 Att the 1h now does more DPS. In the Beta they're already getting +200 att.
@Kim3x3x3 Additionally you can have 6 active skills. You don't have to do an all in meteor build this time around, there are no skill trees to max out. Instead to max Meteor dmg you're really using many things skills/equipment/runes/gems. The Crimson rune gives +dmg. Glass cannon (passive) increases all dmg by 20%. SlowTime (Crimson) +80% dmg to all enemies in the bubble. Cast that then Meteor will hit that much harder. You're not just maxing stats to max dmg, you use synergy, it's more fun!
@Kuvter they wanna tone down synergies, so you wont be forced into a build. cause that will make the whole point of trilion viable builds pointless, since everyone will use a *best build*
@elmondark Yeah I know that, by best they meant avoiding builds where 6 skills runes a specific way with 3 specific passives is the best no questions asked.
However, there will still be a ton of micro synergies to get specific builds or results. Ex. Melee Wizard Build: Spectral Blade + Magic Wpn + Blur + an Armor skill, or highest single hit dmg Barb might be a close up crit in mob with Battlerage Crimson + Wraith of the Berserker Crimson + Wpn Master + Wpn Throw Crimson + Ruthless + Brawler.
I was watching Yogscast where Simon was interviewing some of the people in their costumes. This poor woman who spent 6 months on her costume did not even get to enter the contest while some guy made his costume in his hotel room over night gets to be in the contest. These people should be able to have a 2nd chance. Not this guy who took his house and turned it into a barracks.
@huskysglare1 Stop being distracted by boobs and look at the actual costumes. Many other costumes beat her with the intricate detail (13, 14, 20) or personality (16, 18) they put into them. However, those wings are freakin' sweet. I want her wings!

More doesn't mean it's better. 13 can't even walk by himself. 14 looks like a duck set on fire; she doesn't look like anything. #7 looks nice. he's a little too short for that costume though. #20 looks ok, but don't know who she's suppose to be. #1 looks pretty nice too.

I remember at Blizzcon when Jay Wilson talked about the issue of 1h/2h balance for casters, and he sort of shrugged it off saying that 2h weapons attack slower.
This really isn't a legitimate answer though, because we all know that 2 handers are going to deal much more DPS, not just damage - that's the benefit you get for sacrificing your shield. So unless we see a huge buff to the casters' off-hand items, this still seems to be a glaring issue.
@Apollys The offhand wizard globe thingamabobs are big boosters to DPS and whatnot IIRC...That should equalize the Wizard at least...not sure about the rest of the characters though.
all's i've got to say is they better modify wands to still be as useful as all other one handers for the wizard. seeing a bunch of wizards with swords and maces and axes will just be stoooooopid. unless it is some creative *battlemage* build with magic melee

@huskysglare1 Stop being distracted by boobs and look at the actual costumes. Many other costumes beat her with the intricate detail (13, 14, 20) or personality (16, 18) they put into them. However, those wings are freakin' sweet. I want her wings!

@Kuvter Her costume is freaken awesome! It's simple, yet, well done. One look at her and you can tell she's Tyreal. Those boobies helped too.
More doesn't mean it's better. 13 can't even walk by himself. 14 looks like a duck set on fire; she doesn't look like anything. #7 looks nice. he's a little too short for that costume though. #20 looks ok, but don't know who she's suppose to be. #1 looks pretty nice too.

1: Fits a theme well but looks boring.
14: A duck set on fire, hehe. I like that. She won last year, her costume had lots of detail this year, but something felt off, and I couldn't place it, too plastic-y or something.
20: Is an unreleased character from I think WoW. Maybe an NPC in the Panda expansion. I heard about it on her Youtube channel, don't feel like fact checking.

I remember at Blizzcon when Jay Wilson talked about the issue of 1h/2h balance for casters, and he sort of shrugged it off saying that 2h weapons attack slower.
This really isn't a legitimate answer though, because we all know that 2 handers are going to deal much more DPS, not just damage - that's the benefit you get for sacrificing your shield. So unless we see a huge buff to the casters' off-hand items, this still seems to be a glaring issue.

@Apollys The offhand wizard globe thingamabobs are big boosters to DPS and whatnot IIRC...That should equalize the Wizard at least...not sure about the rest of the characters though.

all's i've got to say is they better modify wands to still be as useful as all other one handers for the wizard. seeing a bunch of wizards with swords and maces and axes will just be stoooooopid. unless it is some creative *battlemage* build with magic melee
