@TheIbanezHero the entire production team got fired and they have been spending the past few months patching it and fixing the copy paste terrain fixing the game client to run better... fixing retarded buggy quest and the long ass running times. My friends who played beta and hated it went back a week ago and said it was pretty decent now... still not FF 11 but it shard to compete with that.

It's pretty simple there guys, the blue dot represents the fish and the orange dot represents how you pull the rod. You must pull the rod in the opposite direction of the fish to bring him towards you. Fish taking line means he is getting away, you taking line means you are reeling in the fish. Larger fish would require smaller and more pulls, smaller fish can be pulled in one try. I've never played the game before and it seemed like a pretty obvious system

Looks like they've just sat down, discussed which things should be in the game, and then just programmed it all in one go and released it. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this to be so confusing. It's just bad mini-game construction. "Hey, remember that fishing thing you could do in World of Warcraft? Well, we've made it even MORE complex!"

the thing that made me chuckle was the advert at the start, the online printer one. The kid catches a fish within the first 5 seconds and it took you 45 mins from starting the game to actually catching something

This game is a lifeless void. The arrogance of Square Enix has led them to totally ignore things like content and story, and rely on cutscenes, graphics, and, above all, the title "Final Fantasy" to sell their games. As is typical of them, they assumed gamers would continue to buy their products forever just because of FF4, FF6 and FF7. They literally outsourced the development of this game to Chinese sweatshops. And now they are paying the price, since nobody is playing this game.
Well I don't think this is entirely accurate. I can understand your rage, because the game sucks monkey balls. But they've issued an apology because they KNOW it sucks.The infrastructure of a video game company like Squenix is pretty vast and difficult to understand, but basically what happened was the people in charge of this game were apparently rushed to shit. It is like the first online FF (FF XI) very confusing at first. There are so many things to do, and many ways to do it. And the game has atmosphere like no other.
To explain what the tutorial didn't seem to mention, but what keeps popping up after each jig. "If the motion you apply does not suit the location you have chosen, the waters will yield no fish."
I started off with CE on the first day of release. Played for about 4 days. This must be the most dire online game I have every played. I've played runescape / wow / lotro / ffxi and find this ffxiv totally boring. The graphics are not that good. LOTRO has better graphics. 3 quarters of the server I was on did not speak any english.

But they've issued an apology because they KNOW it sucks.The infrastructure of a video game company like Squenix is pretty vast and difficult to understand, but basically what happened was the people in charge of this game were apparently rushed to shit. I don't think it was arrogance or anything like that. They just didn't put enough effort or time into it. So it sucks

The only reason this game even has people still playing it is because of its name. No one in their right mind would play this piece of crap game for actual game play. It's all fan boys who love Final Fantasy and don't want to give up on it. Honestly this game is worse than Aion which is SAD!

i don't get it...in ff11 at least fishing had the whole "i have to fight the damn things stamina to catch it" mini game , here just seems overly complicated and dull >.>.
mind you ff11's fishing was dull but not this bad.

this is awesome watching this on how to play the game:) starting as a fisherman seems really cool^^ i think i like how the game supports the idea of leveling multiple classes within the week, it lets you see the world from all different angles^^

Haters, gtfo. Yes the fishing system is rather bad actually. Very bad. Compared to any of the other gathering "jobs".
The game itself though, is just far mature for the main WoW playing mob. I'm happy to see another FF online game out. If it's not your game type, buhu. get out.

It is like the first online FF (FF XI) very confusing at first. There are so many things to do, and many ways to do it. And the game has atmosphere like no other.

To explain what the tutorial didn't seem to mention, but what keeps popping up after each jig. "If the motion you apply does not suit the location you have chosen, the waters will yield no fish."

I started off with CE on the first day of release. Played for about 4 days. This must be the most dire online game I have every played. I've played runescape / wow / lotro / ffxi and find this ffxiv totally boring. The graphics are not that good. LOTRO has better graphics. 3 quarters of the server I was on did not speak any english.
Horrible game.
