Though the core members are American, the band first established itself in the mid-80s in Germany. There, they were able to obtain a lead singer, tour, and eventually garner label interest resulting in their self-titled 1986 mini-album (very rare and hard to find). Some time around the late-80s/early-90s the band relocated to the SF bay area and re-established their presence, this time with new female singer, Christiana (she's on this recording). After much time in the SF bay area...

...they again relocated, this time in Los Angeles. I believe it was around this time the band had a spat, Bari-Bari and Christiana split (they had become a couple), and Bari sought to continue Mephisto Walz as a solo-project with a new female singer. Not sure where the project currently stands.

This is how I understand the story to be, but don't quote me on it.

Their 1986 mini-album was release on an Italian label called Supporti Fonografici (catalog number: SF 010). This release features a male singer named Jorque (aka Creature). All of the songs will be familiar as they were later re-recorded with Christiana and Bari on vocals.
