  • it dose'nt work for me :( the transfer just goes idel and all stops :P i'm useing final cut express

  • I just ordered the AX-2000...do you use Sony memory sticks or SD cards? What size works best...16 or 32g? Is one better then the other?

  • @OwenOMalley. I think the SD cards are better because if you wanted to change cameras down the line, you could use the SDs you already got since your next camera may not take Sony's cards, as they are made specifically for Sony cameras. I use two SanDisk Extreme 32GB cards and LOVE them. Two 32GB cards allow a tad over 6 hours of full HD footage footage @ 30FPS. Now to go with 16GB or 32GB, that depends on your budget and how much footage you want to capture. Hope this helps!

  • When doing the log and capture, i get a red ! in the status area. I am not able to then drag and drop into the time line. I have the Sony HDR-AX2000. what am I doing wrong. I am using Final Cut Express.

  • Oops! I didn't realize the line two switch had three settings, I thought it was just internal mic and line 2- it actually allows you to join with line 1- very cool! Still not Broadcast safe which is about -6db, how is yours set up? mine sounds better in auto for some reason- theres a noise in manual when I raise it up. What is that tiny little switch on the mic? Looks like you need a pin to switch it. Also do you move the "pan" to the center in FCP? Or do you leave it to the left?

  • @lisa728. Yah, auto is usually good way to go to make sure you don't get any peaking. And if it's too quiet, you can boost it up in post by upping the volume up to +6db. And you want more, just duplicate the audio. It's a little trick I've picked up. For the switch, its is mostly likely a lowpass filter. This means it takes the super low frequencies that could disrupt the mic, such as wind, and makes them silent. And yes, either a center pan or I record both L & R as one on the camera.

  • @MedievalHollywood I got the best audio by putting the cam in manual, linking both channels to line 1 and going into a closet! -6db crystal clear! I got the mic based on your video and I'm glad I did! Thanks again for all your help!

  • @lisa728. No problem, my friend. I'm glad I could help. :)

  • Please tell me what settings you put your mic on- Are you using one of those splitter wires that plug into line 1 and 2? I plugged into line 1 using phantom power and its so low, -30db in automatic when raising the level all the way high in FCP! When I put it in manual and raise the dial up to 8 it sounds poor- I have line two switched down so theres no internal recording. If possible please tell me how to get those levels up to -6db nice and clear. I see a tiny switch on the mic, what is that?

  • 1000 Thank youzz! The cable was not searchable by description for some reason. The one you sent "PECXMXF1.5RS" was too long so I just erased the 1.5 part and found this one "pecxmxf03rc" on B&H- looks like a telephone cord though! Not sure I'm gonna like that at all! lol, but it's short, wont drag and gets the job done!- Thank you!

  • Need your help asap! I can't find a cable for the AT897 to connect to the ax2000. I saw the video you made "unboxing the ax2000" and the cable was small but damn, who sells it! There all 6 feet and up- or not the right number of pins on B&H! This stinks! Is this right? 6" XLR 3pin Male to 3pin Female Adapter. Thank you!

  • @lisa728. I believe this is what your looking for? 'PECXMXF1.5RS'? Yes? Search it on BH. This is a standard mic cable, used everything from music recording to film. But obviously, it comes in different lengths. Hope this helps!

  • I shot my first mini film with my family just for fun, its called the letter. I'm the crazy one that shouts "not right now" and I'm also in the very last scene behind the door. This was shot with an older model panasonic- but I just got my ax2000 and so we're talking about a part 2 now! lol please let me know what you think about the angles i chose, etc.. Each time I watch it I see so many things I could have done better- but I think its good for my first try! thanks! keep up the good work!

  • @lisa728. Hey. I really liked the video. It's much better than most of them out there. The angels are great, but it would be even better if you get some more close ups on the faces. A good time would be stalker says "I believe you" to show intensity. All the establishing shots are good, so I know where people are. Another thing you may want to think about it color correction, mostly to add different feels to the video. Beyond that, everything is awesome, especially for a first try!

  • @lisa728 Thanks for watching! I agree with those points. I feel I will do much better next time as I've been analyzing every movie, TV show and commercial since filming this! lol I want to embark on a much bigger project in the very near future. I'm currently working on a script, it's about 85% done. In the mean time I intend on creating a few more of these to sharpen my skills! Thanks again for the input! Let me know if you'd ever like to collaborate!

  • Than you so much I'm getting it and I was not sure if I needed to go out and buy final cut express/ pro

  • Is the Sony ax2000 compatible with iMovie 09 ? Please answer asap

  • @auzzycowley. Yup, it sure is!

  • I added my clips to the final cut sequence, and since when I open final cut it is set to a square 4:3 ratio it says "would you like to set the sequence to the clip settings. When I click yes, it changes to 16:9, but when I go into the sequence settings it says its 1080i, but my footage should be 1080p. I also notice that there IS NO option for 1080p at all.

  • Thank you so much! I'm over and I'm gonna get it. I'm sure the PAL version will be supported also.

  • hey im kinda new to editing in general. could you watch one of my videos and give me some advice?
