My friend and I will be traveling up there in the first week of Oct 2011, Thank you for posting this video so we have a recent view... I am so looking forward to the visit.
We stopped at a REST STOP and a bit noisy from road traffic but the view is awesome as ever!! It definitely would make you want to take up snow boarding!!
Shasta is nicer in May! Cold and glorious in January! And the cinder cones are indeed volcanoes. Took my son past Shasta on I-5 when he was 12. His jaw dropped. He took up snow boarding the next winter - since we lived in Northern California, he opted to go to Shasta rather than up to Tahoe or Oregon.
Is Mount Shasta an active Volcano?
Is that why it is interesting to have I-5 near Shasta? It might blow?
