This reminds me a lot of backpacks with locks; if some one wants to get in there, all they need is a a box cutter... or scissors.

If there are no locks an opportunistic thief is far more likely to steal it.

Magnetic are great unless, like many bikes now (including mine) you have a plastic tank. Horses for courses - this is secure so you can leave stuff on the bike without it getting nicked and surprise that makes it a bit more fiddly - not rocket science. Just because it doesn't suit your purposes doesn't make it rubbish.
